  1. 265/70r15 tires should read correctly on the speedo if it came with them stock , if wider wheels change the circumference I suspect the difference would be minimal . 235/75r15 tires would make your speedo run a little low like you say . Mine came stock with 235/75r15 tires , I put 31's on the stock steel wheels and had a little rubbing at full lock but not too bad . My speedo ran slower with the 31's . I've since gone to 32's with the AC lift and 3.75" wheels and they do stick out , I'd think 31's on 4" wheels would come pretty even with the flares . Probably minimize rubbing too . I can't offer anything on the 8" wheel fitting the spare tire well .
  2. The lowers cause the wobble I believe , but I'd do both upper and lower . If one is gone can the other be far behind ? And you're already in there . Out of all the stuff I fixed on my '96 , the upper and lower rear bushings were the most bang for the buck .
  3. When you're sitting in a parking lot getting ready to take off , and you see a large imposing looking creature covered in tattoo's walking towards you . As it gets closer your aging eyes realize it's an old friend you haven't seen in years . The creature comes to your window and say's "Dude , I knew it had to be you 'cause you're the only person I know that would have a lift and mud tires on a Pathfinder".....
  4. I don't have pics but I ended up ripping off 2-3 of those things over the years . They're easy enough to find if I found them.... The best one was the one that had rotted enough to fall 1/2 way off when I hit a bump doing about 60 mph , I thought I dropped the whole exhaust it made such a racket dragging on the pavement .
  5. After looking at your profile and seeing what you've done to the truck so far I'd go for the SFD . Being that it appears you'd do the labor yourself you'll still have $1000+ to apply towards 35's and you're already geared for them .
  6. FWIW , I replaced the cable and the lock mechanism (not sure what its called) that the cable actuates . It works great , no more PITA....
  7. Mine did the same , on mine it seemed that the cable got stretched over time and reached a point where it just wouldnt work anymore . I had the cable and latch replaced , parts were something around $90.00 . I'd contact this fella here for dealer parts at a good price.... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/user/3939-alkorahil/
  8. He looks like a "talker" , responding when spoken to . My old buddy "Doink" was a big talker , he had a range of vocalization and we'd have conversations . He was a cool cat ! RIP Doink.... Has Danger been (gasp !) neutered yet ? It seems severe to some , but in a few months those hormones will trump everything . He'll figure out that others of his kind are outside the fence and do his best to get out there . My old buddy "Stupid" (yes I named him Stupid...) , I left him intact and wished I hadn't . He became a classic alley cat , staying out for days , fighting , etc.... He'd come home and act like a perfect gentleman , but in the end Feline HIV got the best of him at 5 years old . I cried like a little girl . I love dogs and always carry a box of cookies for any I might meet along the way . I'll have at least one when I retire , as of right now it wouldn't be good for the dog with my schedule . To me and it's just my opinion , the dog people vs. cat people debate seems to be one based on dominance . Dogs respond to the proper use of dominance by becoming a doting member of the pack , while cats respond to dominance with a "WTF do you think you are" attitude . Cats being more solitary and secretive by nature , they seem to respond best to those who realize that they retain a good bit more of their wild instincts .
  9. Ha ! Lock him up in jail works ! Danger Kitty stays un-squashed and you guys get some POM , good deal.... Those kitten claws are sharp , but thankfully they don't go too deep . My 14 year old cat came to me at 6 weeks old , freshly plucked from her semi-feral Mom . She had never been handled and was a little ball of hissing spitting fury if you picked her up . I would hold her and just go for it , my hands were bloody for a couple months... She eventually settled down and actually became one of those cats that flops over for belly rubs . She's a good cat , one of these days I'll post a pic .
  10. Pretty much my experience . I bought new from Rockauto and had binding on the passenger side , changed that one out to a rebuilt Napa and most of the binding went away . My AC coils and spacers were also new , and I still got binding if I stepped on it in the snow . My coils seem to have settled now after 4000+ miles , the topping out went away unless it's a pretty big hole and when I goose it in mud there's no binding now .
  11. You found the right place that's for sure ! What are your plans ? Keep it stock ? Lift it ?
  12. Check out the video in this link of a cat saving a little kids butt from a dog attack . Gotta be the worlds most badass house cat . GO KITTY GO !!! http://news.yahoo.com/blogs/oddnews/pet-cat-saves-boy-from-attacking-dog--with-video--161925992.html
  13. The 2 times I've had to change a flat since I picked up my truck on 1/31/2000 , made putting up with the little inconveniences worthwhile . I could see myself on my back or knees struggling with rusted "whatevers" tying to drop one of those bottom mounted spares . When I picked out my truck it was the only one out of a dozen+ on the lot with the rear carrier , and it was a major selling point for me . Over the years the latch and wire mechanism needed replacement , but all the parts combined were about $100 and it works like new again . Had Nissan done away with the carrier when they introduced the R50 in '96 , a Pathfinder probably wouldn't have even made it onto my short list when I went looking for a 4x4 .
  14. Danger Kitty is a hoot ! Please do keep the pics coming as he grows .
  15. Forgive me if I'm breaking any NPORA rules , but this is a spammer .
  16. On my '96 they were complete , no other parts needed .
  17. Those are the ones I used , only one snowy winter and a few mud excursions (nothing too wild) so far but they've worked as expected .
  18. Upper and lower control arm bushings . What a difference they made for me , lemme tell ya .
  19. Gotta love it..... Set 'em up and take 'em down !
  20. Sadly , about all you can do is set up a camera and lock your truck up religiously . These days it seemingly doesn't matter if you live in a good neighborhood . Example #1... A good friend lives in a rural area here in CT , quickly being surrounded by suburbia but still a town with a large farming area . Little crime , quiet , good neighbors . Last summer there was an "in progress burglary" reported about a 1/2 mile up the road from him , in the middle of the night . The perp made it into a connecting swamp and emerged on my friends property , finding his nicely kept Tahoe unlocked and keys in it . They found it a week later in a "crack haven" area of New Haven , beat into oblivion . No theft insurance so he took the whack , live and learn was the sad lesson . Example #2.... Another friend lives on a cul-de-sac in an upscale suburb , everyone knows everyone . Last summer things started to disappear in the night . Two houses up from my friend is a guy who works 3rd shift , one night he was off work and farting around in his garage with the light on and door open . About 1:30 a.m. he heard a car pull up and thought it was his 19 year old son being dropped off . A minute later three men who clearly "didn't belong" walked into his garage like they owned it . The homeowner surprised them when he grabbed his 870 , racked it , and asked "can I help you boys ?" . He was lucky , he had his gun within reach , what might have happened had he not ? The trespassers were lucky also , they were confronted by a guy who had a cool enough head not to fire on them before they did the 100 yard dash for their waiting driver . I lock my truck every time I get out of it , it's sad but true that no matter where you "think" you are , there is someone who would gladly take whatever is yours without blinking an eye .
  21. 10.8 per gallon on a truck with low mileage and running well makes me wonder if the tires have been replaced with larger than the originals . If I calculate mileage for my '96 using the odometer , running 32's , it comes out to around 10+ . Using the mileage shown on my GPS it comes out to about 13+ . Just a WAG on my part but ya never know...
  22. I don't doubt that many got removed over time when they had trouble with the latches and the pull wire . Mine stopped working about 3 years back , a 15 year lifespan ain't too bad though . For less than $100.00 I got all the parts needed to make it basically brand new . One thing with them though , is they're susceptible to practical jokers . A few months back I and a buddy drove over to the local Cabelas , walking through the lot I spied a baby's pacifier on the ground and said to him "dude , you dropped your binky" . I got the typical CT response of "Ah GFY" and we both chuckled . Getting back in the truck , he stops at the rear and starts tinkering with something . He's a real tin knocker so I never thought anything , he tells me that the rod that holds the swing away open was dangling and he put it back in and we drive away . Weeks go by and we're talking on the phone , Mr. Tin Knocker laughs and says "did you ever see what I did to your truck ?" . I go out and start looking , can't see anything after three/four roundyrounds , so I start brushing snow off the swing away and there it was.... He'd picked up that binky on the way out and slipped the rod through the handle , SOB had me driving around with a pacifier strapped to the back for 3 weeks ! Moral of the story , if you have a swing away , beware of binky's and practical jokers ! I have yet to get even but I will , revenge is sweet.....
  23. Just as a referance point , I had 5 31x10.5x15's on stock steel wheels stuffed in my 96' with AC 2" springs and it felt like nothing back there at all . I figure they weighed around 350 lbs. . With the AC springs I'd have to wonder about having sensitive electronics back there though , they're kinda harsh .
  24. When I bought mine in 2000 there were about a dozen used R50's on the Nissan dealers lot , most were '97 and '98 SE's that were loaded up pretty good . Mine was the only XE there and the only one with the tire carrier . I never did see a lot of XE's around here .
  25. My '96 has the LSD , tire carrier , roof rack with wing , flares , power windows/locks/mirrors , CC . It came with a single disc CD AM/FM , small tires on 6.5 steel rims , cloth interior with kinda hard seats . There are spots on the dash that look as if switches for other options would go , stuff like adjustable suspension I'd guess .
