1. Okay, thanks for the help, its because of the clutch would be able to support the weight over a torque converter? thats what my thinking is. thanks though for the info -Kyle Brain fart, i meant how much you can put on the hitch, so towing capacity. -Kyle
2. Forum specific sale would be slim pickings, I'm more than happy to link to one other nissan pathfinder forum ,(if that pleases the mods) but an 01+ RARELY comes up, Your best bet is to keep your eye on the places you already searching on, people who have the 01+ tend to hold on to them, lol But here is somewhere else to try http://www.thenissanpath.com/index.php Its generally where the R51's guys (05-13) hang out, but you never know. -Kyle
3. Oh yeah, i knew you'd come through, that's cheaper than some of the aftermarket options!!!!! And my car has lived in washington all its life, so as far as rust goes, i should be okay, but you know who ill be ordering from after i get a chance to inspect them. does that "three bolt" kit, include all three of the bolt needed, very likely a stupid question ,but Nissan part names confuse me. lol Yeah, i've had the pleasure of speaking to rob for parts already, happily with my new datsun family member (77 280z) I get a nice big NISSAN box on my doorstep. WOOHOO!! I might give MOOG a second chance, but on something that is going to be much easier to change. -Kyle -Kyle
4. Yup, im fairly sure, ill check it when i get to school tomorrow, but i dont think its an issue, i might just get an OEM while im ordering from ROB.
5. I was going to post this too, But in case you're still interested http://www.sbfilters.com/Universal-Filter_1591 this is the exact same thing (im told) as what a JWT gets you. -Kyle
6. No worries, i think the ball joints are Original and if they need changing, im just going to get oem, because raybestos are only 3$ less than OEM, so OEM IT IS, still rough a $71 a pair from courtesy, well see what Rob has to say to that price. -Kyle
7. No, I've got a link to site that will get the same thing for a lot less. I'll get it to you tomorrow when u have access to my computer.
8. I think it's the same but 4500 for the manual, I'll go home and look in my manuals, see what the rest recommendation's are. Does anyone know what determines payload? Engine and trans aside. What's anyone's guess at chassis towing payload? Out of pure curiosity. -Kyle
9. Really? What was the cause of the failure? Bad spot welds? What would you recommend getting that's similar to that? The goal I'm going for is better foal, and no god awful drones, just some nice throaty grunt with some butt dyno gains. -Kyle
10. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="borninabarn" data-cid="654313" data-time="1360623279">
I found this site for some inexpensive Grille guards/Bull Bars But havent ordered anything yet? Check it out:
http://www.truckgeardirect.com/?ITEMID=WN-802

Heeeeyyy you made it over from the Nissan path. Com glad to have you over here. Welcome -Kyle
11. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="Towncivilian" data-cid="654290" data-time="1360614914">
01+ also got a heavier duty automatic transmission variant to back the more powerful engine.

Wait they changed the transmission? Did the towing payload go up with it? -Kyle
12. <blockquote class='ipsBlockquote'data-author="DsR50" data-cid="654341" data-time="1360639485">
lol V8 would tear the frame i feel like, and yea it is alot of work for 40hp so maybe do it when the motor is toast. tossing a cam in there is going to suck gas worse then it already does

Hahaha now your realizing the endless cycle every motor head realizes. Power over fuel economy, ask yourself this. With the supercharger, do you think you are more likely or less likely to be flooring it all the time? I know when we did the exhaust on my fiends Durango. He went from 13 to 11 average because he wanted to hear that engine roar. The same would be true of that supercharger, hearing that thing whine would be awesome! 1 thing that hasn't been talked about yet on here is breathability for your engine. I've heard opening up the exhaust really helps to get some more power. Plus on the right setup a VG sounds mean with an exhaust. Exploring header options as well will definitely get some higher numbers on the butt dyno, there's a company called hurricane headers in Australia that makes headers for the upside down version of out cars. If your willing to have them imported and seeing if they fit, you have a really good chance of opening a significant amount of power. The only concern is the difference between their right and left hand drive. So if your willing to take the risk please report back. -kyle Edit:looks like quoting on the phone isn't all that great. Awesome, sorry for the mess.
13. Haha you know you can get multi quote now right? Jk pulling your leg. The supercharged Idea would be nice but still it's $1400 and up for a full conversion. There is a thread on the xterra forums of how to covert an N/A VG, to supercharged (I can post it when I get home if anyone is interested, has part numbers and everything) but it seems like a lot of cash for only 40 hp, I think some JWT cams would be a better investment for power. Or like I said, V8!!!!!!!!!!! POWERRRRRRR lol -Kyle
14. Yup, replacing those too, not getting moog crap ever again though.
15. So im going to bump this old thread, and PM the OP so i can see the transformation of the 03, sorry about your 98, that looked like a nice rig, But can you post up some new pics, that be SWEEETTT Thanks -Kyle
16. Nope, i haven't replaced the ball joints yet, and if the joints are sealed units, how do you go about greasing them?
17. Your kidding, weird, well i have heard the 3.3 with a 40 series, SOUND amazing with a 2.25 cat back, so that is what im going to do. But my understanding it a flow through gives more power, baffled not as much, wont the new piping open her up a bit as well? our roads are not salted in Washington, happily, rust is a non issues, at least we can ignore, my buddies 00" rango has 130K on the clock, (his family has had it from 50, i think), there is no rust, the only time we found some was between the radiator support and the fender mount, (metal on metal). same with his 86 BMW, given it spent 10 of its 27 in colorado, the only rust is from a failed antenna grommet, Pathy i cant say the same, but still, a non issue. sounds good, next payday its new O2's for the front.
18. But like i had mentioned, im going to give that ball joint a good smack (On the tire, see if i can re create the sound) and see what happens, if the bump stop wasn't it, its new front ball joints. -Kyle
19. Sounds like you have the same issue i do, but mine hasn't been clunking at all recently, its very strange. IDK, should be fairly inexpensive, and im making an order anyway. -Kyle
20. Alright so i might have been generalizing a little, but still, there is not a day that goes by where. i feel at least, some newbie over on NICO, or even on here, post some sort of VQ related issue. IDK, maybe im just jealous of all that extra power. -Kyle
21. and spending endless weekends replacing O2's MAF's, CPS, and any of the codes that a VQ owner goes through, If you are suggesting an engine swap, a VG33ER is the way to go, SUPERCHARGED!!!! I MEAN LOOK AT THE POWER GAINS!!!! 3,000,000 HP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But in all seriousness, this supercharger gets you about 40 more HP, and 40 more torques, This guy supercharged his VG30E, another good thread http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/33332-supercharged-94-le/?hl=supercharged But the supercharger option would be fairly expensive, i've heard guys paying $1000 and up for JUST the supercharger, you'd be better off find a wrecked X-terra or frontier and getting engine as a whole, that way you can get the extra stuff, like the harmonic balancer, the exhaust manifolds, and all of the upper intake witch craft, needed. Huge was of resources if you ask me for 40 extra HP, do what tyler did and swap a VH45 in it, its around 300Hp, and VH's are easy to come by, unlike the supercharged VG's Thats what i'd do. This thread is full of some much win http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/topic/18663-vh45-swap-sas-update-merged-threads/ -Kyle
22. Check and see under your back seat for the Nissan provided tools, some of its for spare tire replacement, but three of the tools are for spark plug changing. these saved my butt when i went to change the spark plugs on my car, ESPECIALLY number 6 But this photo i took of me doing my knock sensor change might help to give you a visual of how hidden spark 6 is. So this is taken right about where the harness would sit coming from the firewall (firewall is on the top left, front of the engine and car is going towards the bottom right), so pretty much reach down and its the only thing back there with a stud (So putting the boot back on it much easier) and the ONLY upward facing socket headed anything larger than 14MM But like i said, having the Nissan tools MAKES A WORLD OF A DIFFERENCE for this job. -Kyle EDIT: as far as getting them out, trodgor is right on the money, a small amount of PB at just the right angle and given time to soak, will be just the ticket. if not, start (Kidding, please don't do that)
23. that's my thinking too, but it is genuinely the only thing that is not correct in the rear suspension, the Sway bar links look good, from what i can see the trailing arm bushings all seem to be fine, sway bar bushings are good. But that does reminds me, i forgot to mention this, we inspected the front ball joints and found a tiny amount of grease next to the passenger ball joint, but im claiming that due to the recent CV boot replacement, because other than that dismal amount of grease, the joints were DRY. But ill jack it up and give the wheels a tug and a hit with a hammer or two, see if that explains the knock. -Kyle
24. Okay, i kinda was thinking of doing the same, are the ones on RockAuto good? (bosch) I thought the 40 series was a straight pass through?
