  1. Wow-very nice! Idea: If you come acrossed a bike carrier rack at your local recycle/junk yard/goodwill etc, you might be able to snag parts for your rifle rack. I'm thinking of the thick rubber strap deals like: Thule straps Also if you all haven't sleept in the cargo area before, give a try before your trip. In my 1999.5 I had to sleep kinda angled when I camped out in it. I might think about popping out the narrower rear seat bottom so as to give me just enough length that I wouldn't have to sleep at an angle. With the seat bottom popped out I might even have enough room for my cot back there (hmmm got me thinking about that!). 2nd Also...I was just thinking about this earlier today...I have a new (free-to me) 6/9 can 12 Volt cooler. Will work excellent for camping. I'll need to figure out it's power consumption and wether or not to get a 2nd battery. Anyways point being-that the smaller units are not very pricey, ~$100 new. The one I have is made by the same folks who make the bigger offroad units that cost like 1000$, so I'm hoping the quality/reliability is similar.
  2. I had long range daylighters on a Mitsu Montero 2 door, they were really nice! In fact I give my self a kick every now and then for not pulling them off when I gave that car away. Oh well... I have Hella Black Magic style lights on my Pathfinder. They look pretty decent, kinda "blacked out" when not on, and light up OK-but KC's are better IMO.
  3. Ditto above. My summer wheelset are the original 5 spoke type. They are the ones I might try to plastidip .
  4. Try painting them with plasti-dip. 20$ and you can see if you will like the color combo or not. -That's what I will be doing.
  5. Where abouts in Oregon is that? I lived in Tigard (Portland area) for a few years. Commuted to Tuality Hospital in Hillsboro. Loved it out there!!!! I'm thinking about headed back, but maybe Eugene or Rogue River this time...
  6. Most LE models are listing a few thousand more than SE models around here. List price is also dependent on mileage of course. Ex-There is an 03/04 LE model that's been listed for a few months now started at ?6900, now is at ?5900- nice color blue, with leather and such.
  7. I don't think I have a 4lo light either. My Pathy is automatic with the floor shifter. I've run 4x4 a lot (and that indicator light works), but only tried 4lo once a fees years back so can't say for sure. Interestingly enough my 4x4 indicator does not illuminate at startup (ignition "on" but not cranking yet).
  8. Aha-good know about Fast info. Thanks Town. I sent an inquiry and asked about the discrepancies, was replied with-thanks for your interest, please call such & such. Seems to be a "bait & switch" kinda thing. Eww used car dealers. Eww.
  9. Howdy, I came across this Craiglist listing & wondering what folks thoughts are. Nice looking lifted Pathy, seems the description is misleading... http://boston.craigslist.org/sob/ctd/2861817420.html The description is: 2003 Nissan Pathfinder Low Miles 4x4 CD - $8977 Trim is listed as: LE, but photos show SE badging. Vehicle also has the 4x4 shifter next to the regular shift, I had thought that was dropped in ?2001 in favor of that 4x4 "knob/dial" thingy. Way overpriced if it is an '01 SE IMO.
  10. Courtesy Nissan parts currently lists front shafts for $482.64 . Part# 39100-R50001
  11. I voted no, but... I should have rotated it in, but never did. Now I can't. It's still the original tire (note to self...check my spare...). I now run 4 upsized tires 3 seasons, and 4 studded snows winter.
  12. Remember that 2nd generation Pathy's have a bit of an optical illusion kinda thing going on. I believe the wheel well on the fronts are bigger than the wheel wells on the back (least ways on mine). This alone gives the illusion that the rear is higher than the front.
  13. I believe that non Nissan strut bearings are subject to very premature failure (like within months)...I certainly could be wrong though. Any way you ask the previous owner?
  14. I would imagine your Pathy is not affected. You could also take a look and see if there is any rust around the strut towers though. Point being if it was going for the recall fix, depending upon the level of rust, the struts are removed anyways. Since the struts are removed for the repair, you could have them put in new bearings at that time. Doesnt sound like the case for you though. I wish I had been reading the boards when I had my recall done, I would have known only to use Nissan bearings, and would have had them done at the same time...oh well...
  15. I'm not sure where "Woodlands" is, but make sure that the strut tower recall has been addressed for your new-to you Pathy. If it has not been addressed, take it to a dealer. Should the strut tower be deemed repairable, have them look into any further issues w/the struts at the same time.
  16. Similarly I've been thinking about setting up some bright (5-10 watt) LED lighting, either auxiliary wired to an outlet or permanent mounted low.
  17. I'm curious if folks install this while the front end is jacked up, or not. Perhaps it might cause extra ?torsion or something if it is (or isn't) installed while jacked up? Along a similar idea: My pathfinder seems to ride/corner "nicer" since I installed my sliders. Could be psychological, could be the added weight at lower center G, could be semi-binding of the unibody to subframe, or any combo of previous.
  18. That's a nifty modification! For Diesel WD21's? I'm still left wondering if that is the same function as the Overdrive on/off button on R50's.
  19. My crosslink arrived yesterday afternoon. Looks great!!! The install won't be for a while, but I might put it ahead of a few other projects though... I'll likely shoot some Deep Creep on the bolts once a day for a few days prior to the install. I have to find a suitable breaker bar before hand anyways.
  20. I filled ~2/3 of my tank yesterday & did a quick math check. I got 12.9 MPG for the gas I used. Mostly city driving, maybe 20 miles highway. Pretty cruddy MPG, but reasonable IMO as I am running studded snow tires. I might do a better overtime average if I have the time to do so. I log allmost all of my fillups (date, trip distance, total distance, ppg, total price, station, notes). Handy habit to record the data especially as I write most maintenence in the same log.
  21. Great! Again, no rush though. I've a bunch of other projects to get to as well.
  22. I ordered a crosslink, but told Fleurys no rush on mine. I am looking forward to it. Plus I'll have the added benefit of installing his armor in the future if I want to.
  23. *Before... How SuperSliders are packed for shipping... Bolts included, bits and tools required...Each "arm" bolts into the subframe with 2 self tapping grade 8 bolts. The pinchseam attachment seems to be more for aligning the subframe arms, as it only has 2 smaller bolts. Jackstands and a jack are handy, especially if installing alone... *Installed... Post edited to figure out photos. I still can't quite figure out how to link imageshack when posting using an iPhone, I had to use a full size PC.
  24. Nothing taped/attached, it would have been handy to have that's for sure! Both sides are now on-I'll see if I can post up some pictures later in the week. Go Patriots!!! Plenty of time left to come back...
  25. I bought a set of these a few weeks ago, and finally had some time to install today. I got one side in at least, and hopefully the other side Sunday. The set I received only has 2 bolt points to the pinch seam and this portion only runs along less than half of the seam. It does have 3 mount arms to the subframe. Each subframe arm point has 2 self tapping bolts. I would imagine for this rail to be strongest, it should be better mounted to the pinch seam-there is about av1/4 or 1/8 inch gap between the pinch seam and the part of the rail that it mounts to. I wouldn't use this rail as a jack point unless it was better attached to the pinch seam- maybe have the small gap filled in then welded. -also, i thought Rocky Road's site stated these sliders come with a a thin metal pattern you can clamp on to drill holes. My set didn't have the strip pattern which would have made install ever so much easier. For the other side I'll make some type of pattern from cardboard or something.
