  1. I replaced mine on another vehicle at one point and they had little clips on the outside of the strut end that slid to an "open" position, thus releasing the ball on the other side. Kinda like pressing the release button on a socket wrench...
  2. those are pretty red "X"s
  3. rip'em off and don't look back...
  4. found a converter - http://hem.passagen.se/perlon/converter.html yes, I have too much time on my hands...
  5. 110kph should be somewhere around 65-70mph, no? 100kph = 62 mph
  6. although you unlocked the door - the battery was dead so the alarm brain didn't get the signal that you were disabling it. The alarm automatically arms 30 seconds after you lock the doors (keyless or otherwise). It is disarmed by unlocking... Since your batter was dead, you kicked the alarm on when you went to jump it - again, the brain didn't know you unlocked/disarmed the alarm - so it went off... unlocking after hooking up power would cure that. If ever you alarm goes off - unlocking the truck with the key in the driver's door will disable every time...
  7. hey 88 - what ever happened to the round piaa's you were running up front? still got em? wanna sell em?
  8. HOLY COW - time for beer break for sure... good for you, just think of all the $$$ you just saved by doing it yourself - just the perfect excuse for going out and buying more stuff for the truck... time for a winch! Oh, wait, maybe that - "I'll do the work myself to save the money for more stuff" argument only works with my wife...
  9. anohter of our pooch up at the lake... he LOVES his sticks
  10. the chevy 4.3 v6 is the same block, bore stroke, etc as the 350 v8 minus 2 cylinders... lots of go fast goodies for the v6 too... AS far as the 3.5 VQ - doubt it's possible as it uses drive by wire for the gas pedal to throttle body... plenty of other stuff to worry about too like variable valve timing, more sensors than you can shake a wire at and as many potential headaches. I think the 4.3 is the way to go - just swap in a gm tranny and an NV transfer case... easy as pie. Trying to mate up to the stock Nissan stuff might be possible, but why do that? just fab new mounts for non Nissan stuff (brackets and crossmembers) - otherwise you will have to source some sort of adapter plate to go between the engine and tranny
  11. paid 1.99 per gal this afternoon in Hopkinton MA - Gulf station - the Mobil station across the street is perpetually 8-10 cents higher and they were still 2.08 9/10ths today... dunno why anyone would go over there...
  12. getting the full kit installed in about an hour - dropping off at my buddy's shop... will let you know...
  13. That's pretty sweet! nice job! I'm jealous, have to get out there and make my own sometime soon!
  14. just try going up to NH, VT or Maine and NONE of the overhead Freeway signs are lit up on 95, 93, 89 91 etc... duh - why do you think the DOT wants some light up there...
  15. someone is bumming big time about their missing truck - just imagine how you'd feel with your truck ripped off... man - I'd be beside myself...
  16. I'd like to see a pic myself... I have a source for ordering aluminum plate and have thought about doing this myself. I haven't heard any pricing on that plate from runnerman - If I knew how much that one was, I could decide whether I'd make my own or buy his...
  17. got 2.9% and $2500 off when I bought my 02 - I also worked at the dealership as a sales person. Paid about $26500 before my trade - it was a demo that was driven by the service manager... 7400 miles on it, never registered... not too bad on a 35k LE... :contract:
  18. "The system offers the driver the choice of 2-wheel drive, 4-wheel drive or "automatic" setting, in which the system instantly distributes torque to the front wheels - in the precise amount that is required to restore traction only as required - and then returns to rear-wheel drive operation." the above quote is the critical part of the All-Mode AWD system. You have a choice of 2WD, 4WD or AWD... I have this system in my 02 LE and love the "auto" setting when it's raining or snowy/icy... This is, however, a much different drive system than what is in skibum's XE... There is a multi-plate wet clutch in the center diff of my truck that provides AWD function. You can also select 2 Wheel High, 4 Wheel High or 4 Wheel Lo with the transfer case in addition to the auto setting... that is a great article though - great find...
  19. either way - let me know when you've got-em available - you can shoot me an email with pricing if you know what you will be asking... you can get me at squam5@msn.com thanks - Chris
  20. If I understand what you are saying correctly, you are suggesting that your TRANSFER CASE is limited slip... and that is NOT correct - the transfer case gets locked into 4-hi or 4-lo. That is a solid engagement - limited slip in a transfer case refers to something like an AWD viscous center diff. Your truck has a part time x-fer case - either on or off - not capable of slipping... Your rear differential however, that is another story - that could have a limited slip diff, but I think that an open diff is more likely in an XE Finder...
  21. did someone say something bout shocks? or was it tires... I forget...
