  1. lots of clearance now alternator is a tight fit, but it works its in!
  2. finished block bracket(i was just learning to weld on a 120v lincoln wire feed, my welds are much more pretty now had to shave some off the alternator case, no biggy
  3. also made a bracket to hold the pump to the block to gain even more clearance and allow me to later add the A/C pump back as an onboard air compressor. which is happening soon so stay posted! belt looks a little crooked but its just camera angle, its bang on
  4. heres the setup all ready to rock, almost done the steering moved the pump return line fitting around to get the old line to work, had to bend the old line but it worked out fine. no leaks 2 years later. bolted up, this was a happy moment haha
  5. the power steering pump didnt clear the frame rails so I had to make a custom mounting bracket which would move the pumps location inward toward to engine about 3-4 inches. I then used a much shorter drive belt and had mucho clearance afterward. sizing up the area alternator will fit with some shaving of the case, i will make a lower clearance bracket for it down the road but i have been running it with a shaved case for 2 years now with zero issues. heres the r50 bracket, i have to mimick the offset of this bracket but make it much shorter starting to fab the tensioner bracket. used a piece of the old 3.0 bracket and some flat stock I had laying around. mocked up, so far so good heres the offset of the two, exact same heres how much room clearance i gained from. my adjuster up top, r50 adjuster on the bottom after modifying the old r50 pump brackets to work with my setup, had to shift and cut soem things, redrill some holes, etc.
  6. my 2.4 litre rear drive gas powered engine hoist tow machine (a.k.a 240sx). lol. pulling a vg on a gravel driveway by yourself sucks. engine out a big hole, engine bay looks huge with a 3" body lift and no engine! the new beast, kind of ugly but it runs perfectly and silently. great runner. had to drill out a broken stud (previous owner of the donor truck snapped it), can see the new stud on the right. that was not fun. snapped off an ez-out in the broken stud trying to extract it... i will never use one of those again....cobalt drill bit to the rescue to drill out the hardened steel ez out....nightmare over...lol test fitting
  7. Ya that's a great idea. I will do that for sure.. ill post back up after we dissect the filter.
  8. Yeah the flakes are either not metal or they are non ferrous. There is no magnetism. The truck sounds good aside from one noisy lifter. We did a compression test a couple months ago and it was 170 across the board except one which wae 158, still within spec tho. There's no roughness to the motor at all, no bearing noise. Kind of weird to find aluminum in there... I dont even know where that would come from? It was a brighter white metallic colour. No change in how it drives since we got it about 6000miles ago. It feels stronger now if anything... Very weird.... I did clean some gunk out of the lifters area when we did the valve cover gaskets so maybe i dropped some built up crud down inside.
  9. For anyone who is interested, I am going to be experimenting with tuning pathfinder ecus. I have already learned the 240sx ecu and have successfully tuned it, increased power and gas mileage over stock. Nissan likes to tune really rich from the factory so there's a good amount of wiggle room in the fuel and ignition maps depending on the octave of fuel you run. Next up is moving my wideband over to the pathfinder. Installing the chip socket into a spare ecu and experimenting with the tune on my 1993 pathy with a vg33e swap, headers, intake, and soon to be vg30e cams. Will be running 370cc injectors and a maxima n60 maf. I will be using virtual dyno for the tuning, it has worked great for my s13. Once I have my pathy tuned I would be willing offer a tune for those interested. This is all still up in the air but if anyone is looking for a REAL ecu tune for your pathy then stay posted. Should all be happening by this summer.
  10. .if someone wants to move those to the first page feel free, just so they are easy to find?^
  11. Hey everyone, just got a photobucket setup so the pictures should stay up for all to see. Hope the pics help! and its still holding up! love this swap.
  12. just use your factory vg30e engine mounts, they will bolt right up to the vg33er block.
  13. Well, didn't work on mine today (although I wanted to). Everything is now fixed up on my other halfs pathfinder, her steering and suspension etc. so it's time to get it higher!! lol. We installed some cut JGC v8 springs in the rear, fitted some gas magnum 3" longer shocks out of I believe a full size dodge pickup(found them in the pick-a-part near brand new for 20$!), had to shim the shock mount bushings so the shock post would fit the eyelet properly but it ended up a perfect fit. Rear is about 2" taller now and between the new springs/heavy duty gas magnum shocks the truck rides SO much better! Much more smooth going down the road and corners a lot better too. Can't wait to try it up Mt. Sumas tomorrow! We will crank the t-bars up an inch and align it next weekend. My pathy gets an interior swap tomorrow! Getting rid of the horrible red 80s cheese and installing a full dark gray interior. STOKED! will be a lot of work though im sure, lol. Still need to track down some gray door panels but I have everything else.
  14. is your truck manual? it may have been manual swapped at some point and still have the original 4.63 auto gears or maybe it came with 4.63s with the manual because of some offroad package or something? stock size tires with 4.63 gears and a MT would probably account for those revs? what does the door jam sticker day? should be HG43 or HG46
  15. https://fbcdn-photos-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-ash4/285593_10152593882355504_1517483130_n.jpg There's my pinstriped and non pinstriped vehicles lol.
  16. Haha, by the way, I wasn't trying to be a mean person. LOL. Honestly if you want to fix the scratches up, yes you want to clean the area with an abrasive soap to remove the waxy coatings and grime. Dishwashing liquid should be fine, then u can dab on the paint where you need it. Dab clear coat over top after if you want to go all out but it's not really necessary depending on how picky you are. Wax the area again after to coat it again. Have you tried nu-finish scratch remover? If its just surface scratches, it will take them out quite well. but..... really it is meant to have scratches
  17. Best way is to drive it through a bunch of tight trails so the whole trucks paint job is full of scratches, then it will blend in and look normal. Trucks are supposed to have scratches, silly!
  18. You get the regular right hand threaded section drilled out and tapped to 18mm right hand threads. leave the left hand threaded side alone
  19. I've been using the obx headers on my pathy for a couple years now. Still in great shape, no cracks, they sound great. No complaints for 90$ shipped.
  20. This is what I was just thinking...today actually! Just run a wire from the parking lights to the pink/black stripe wire that powers the dash +ill terminal at the dimmer before it hits the dash. That is if it doesn't go well when I take out my deck in my pathfinder to compare the wiring. I have installed 6 or 7 car stereos now and never had a problem! I can't wait to straighten out the wiring in her truck....after the stereo is done I'm tearing out that garbage factory alarm and installing a viper too...that pos factory alarm goes off in the middle of the night for no reason!
  21. Freaking awesome...if I wasnt going turbo on my vg33e swapped pathy then I would be doing this!
  22. just got an egr today from the junkyard...what a pain to remove... now i can put it in my truck....go pass air care.....then rip it out again after i pass, lol...

  23. Yeah that's actually not a bad idea..... I was just at pick a part... I think next time ill do that!
