  1. XPLORX4 your truck looks sick! What headlights are those??
  2. Just an update: I actually DID get this project finished, and its working great again! Took a week's worth of evenings after work to finish it, and my trusty wingman's help in exchange for pizza. So nice to be able to drive again!

    350Z #1

Thats pretty sweet that he got the 1st one! I fell in love with the 350z when I was living in Tokyo a few years ago. There they call it the Fairladyz. Someday when I'm super rich I'll have a 370z among my collection
  4. "So the weekend went well (a few pics in the photo forum) and now I am back on the spring hunt. Looking at FJ/Prado springs now, I will let everyone know the results. " Any luck?
  5. You've had the Ironman Springs for a while now, any updates? Still love them? I'm super interested in them!!
  6. Now that you've had it on for quite a while, how do you like the ORI's?
  7. Underglow is totally worth it I've got blue in my footwells, as well as around the exterior underneath. If you do want to do it, go for the 5 Meter long, 500 led lights on ebay. $15, and enough to light up anything you feel like. My buddy figured out a way to make them fade to the bass of his sub. Pretty slick if you ask me, but then again, I did live in Tokyo a few years and I think it rubbed off on me I just wired it to the back of my cig lighter, and have a toggle switch right under the radio.
  8. Traded a guy for a new roof rack! Its a metal bedframe for a twin bed, but goes the entire length of the roof, and doesnt look out of place. He had it aside as scrap metal, so I traded him some of my own scrap metal, bought some U-bolts and bolted it down to my cross members! Took maybe 30 mins total Merry Christmas indeed!
  9. Thanks for the pic comparison! x2 on if anyone has the actual specs on the coils!
  10. In Highschool my two wingmen and I, after watching Top Gun, named each other after the characters in the film. Glad I wasn't goose. 29 is the day I was born, and 89 is the year~
  11. PaMountainbiker - Your truck is freaking sweet! Awesome job building it up!
  12. yup! the transmission is officially drained, and I finally got the transfer case all the way off! Feels great to have that much done at least. Next step is doing it all in reverse! and no worries xplorx4, now I know!
  13. I'm pretty interested in seeing the setup too
  14. Ive got a manual transmission, and its a golden-ish color..... I had to run off to work this morning, so I cant go check right this second, so I'll double check when I'm off. If it was transmission fluid, wouldnt it be red-ish? It sure has dumped a ton of fluid all over my parking lot, so I sprinkled stuff all over that and put the oil drip pan underneath before heading off to work.
  15. Okay, I need some help now.... We've got all the bolts out, but now its starting to leak fluid! I understood that the both the transmission and the transfer case were both internally sealed, and that when disconnected there should be nothing between them.. Its got 14 years of force from those bolts still holding it up, and I'm calling it a night (spent 6 hrs out there today). I tried using some leverage to pry the tcase off the tranny, but its not budging. Double, even triple checked all the bolts so I know that they're all out, but its still hanging up there... But the biggest question/concern is WHY IS IT LEAKING??!?
  16. Thanks so much for clarifying! That makes sense, since both units are individually sealed. It should be done within the week.
  17. the napa guy said to use rvt silicone.... was he wrong?
  18. Do I need a new seal for the transfer case to transmission?
  19. Started this project Saturday, got both drivelines out and 6 of the 14 bolts! Its just a start, but I dont get days off work very often so itll be up on jackstands for a while... The more we look at it the more we're thinking that we'll have to gut the inside too. There isnt exacly a removal diagram in the repair manual, so its guess and check. Did you have to remove that crossmember (not sure if thats the right word to use) that is supporting the transmission in order to get the transfer case out?
  20. Thanks for the speedy reply. I'll definitely be trying to get it out without removing everything, that just seems like a pain...haha. Do you by chance have a diagram of all of the bolts that need to come out? I wonder how many there are.
  21. xplorx4, you had to take out the whole interior to get to the top bolts?? Was there no way else to get to them? If there is, I would love to know.. Hoping to get started on this tomorrow. And Im guessing that the wd21s and the r50s are pretty different from the responses I'm getting... Its a different tcase isnt it? the r50 has the tx10, I know that much, but Ive never dealt with the wd21s at all. please keep chiming in guys, I really appreciate all your $0.02!!
  22. good advice for marking the plugs. I noticed that there were three, thats a good way to not mix em up. By taking out the transfer case, I shouldnt need to drain the trans right? They're not internally connected, so it should just be an unbolt, rebolt, fill with fluid, good to to type of project right?
  23. Okay! The time has come! I purchased the new-to-me transfer case the other day, and this week I'll be starting on taking the old one out and replacing it. My1path, how long did it take you to do that work you did? I just wanna unbolt, replace, and rebolt. Any idea how long it should take?
