Calmini Suspension Kit - Anyone Know About It?
88pathoffroad replied to pathy689's topic in The Garage
You have to order just the UCA's and bushings on the phone. Roughcountry.com had them for that price, last I checked. -
It works fine with the top coil heated and re-bent. I've been running mine for going on three years now like that. I didn't use an oxy-acetylene torch, I used MAPP gas and barely got it hot enough to glow red. If it does anything, it'll most likely simply sag at the top coil that was heated. I suppose it could also break, but that won't strand me any place, I don't think. I realize that stock Pathy coils do fit tighter at the ends, but the coil seats fit the ends perfectly fine.

I can't think of any places to use a Hi-Lift jack without scrunching sheetmetal on a stock Pathy. There are no tow points in the rear, just tie-downs. The front is supposed to have a tow hook on the pass. side.

I think you're going to be disappointed. As other people have said, why would sticking something into your intake (thereby reducing interior flow) help? The air doesn't spiral all the way into the cylinder, not with the way it's set up. It's been tested quite a few times IIRC.

Add some tabs for lights and you have a $500 rack for the cost of the steel and your time to put it together! Looks great!

Clean water is no problem, alternators are sealed so they can get wet. Dirty water can dry and leave mud inside, causing problems.

I think the t-case is the same but the engine and trans are 4-cyl only items.

Pacesetters are built in Mexico by children with stick-welders. They fit OK but the overall build quality is lacking. That's why they're cheap. Thorleys are nice. I had a look inside the crossover pipe for mine, there was (honest to god) a quarter-sized hole torched into the tube for the y-pipe join. Then they welded the other tube on top and shipped it out. Not real high-performance if you ask me.

Please Help! Speedometer Keeps Disconnecting

Tried lubing up the cable with Teflon spray or liquid lube? -
They are resonator tubes, not cats. I have yet to see Nissan cover any exhaust problems under warranty or for free on any vehicle older than one or two years.

The Calmini stuff is well-built and durable, sure. It's just the most expensive UCA lift you can buy. My feeling is that if the RC/Superlift UCA's do the same job for less, why pay more?

Question Replacing Spark Plugs On The 3.5l
88pathoffroad replied to Thunderbolt's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Use a spark plug socket and a ratchet with some extensions. -
If it's only $400 there's gotta be something horribly wrong with it. Double-check the frame for rust, it may be rusted out inside so badly that it's about to break, and you don't want that nightmare.

The master switch on the driver's door is a likely culprit in the lock problem area. Check that out, maybe?
-
Whatever RPM's you get with a manual trans are what you get, there's no way for it to be off by a few teeth, even if they're missing. It's direct drive, no variables like a torque converter. Unless your clutch is slipping badly, and I think you'd notice that.

Between $1100-2200, usually.

Inside the cab or outside? Could be that the canister didn't get hooked up right, you have an exhaust leak, or perhaps the EGR line is off. Could be a few different things. How did he find out one injector was bad? Or did he just kinda pop that one in on ya and expect you to pay for it?

Ecu Self-diagnostics For 87-95 Pathfinder
88pathoffroad replied to 88pathoffroad's topic in How-To's
EGR functionality problems can lead to other issues like idle quality and emissions, along with poor mileage in certain situations. It's meant to work along with the other engine systems, so without it you may experience a few minor problems that may or may not annoy you. -
Not unless you use 3/8" steel to box it with and do the whole thing. The frame is only 2-3mm to begin with, innit?
-
AFAIK they fit just fine. Slick, don't they make two sets, one for auto and one for manuals?
-
I have a full set of 1/4, 3/8 and 1/2" drive sockets and ratchets from Home Depot that I got for my birthday years ago...the case they came in broke at the hinge but all the slots and spaces for the sockets are still full, I just take the lid and lay it out alongside the bottom section when I use it now. Never broke one, but the ratchets are dying now after 5-7 years. In the Pathy I just have a big plastic toolbox packed with odds and ends, I don't like the heavy steel boxes. Best tool: Husky (Home Depot) 3/8" ratchet with a spinner handle (rotate the handle and it spins the socket, either direction!).
