  1. git 'R Done!! I'm finally in the R50 parts market now and I need this thing to hold together xD
  2. Holy hell in a hand basket xD You R50 guys are SO complicated when it comes to slapping on some tires and making them go round without f'in anything up!! WD's, if there's not enough room, slam in bigger pucks between the frame and body if there's still not, keep cutting stuff until there is >_< /minirant *sigh* on a side note... I need help making the 33" Mickey T's fit onto this beatup R50 I just bought >_> SO, with AC lift, to prevent rubbing from a 33x12.5R15 tire on anything IMPORTANT (suspension bits and junk), I need WHAT amount of back space?? dont worry about the non-important stuff (fenders, plastic junk, brake lines or my feet, I've got a grinder for those) total backspacing upfront required is... what, still 3.75" ? thanks guys xD
  3. oooooook so I've read all through this thread trying to make sense of things I've just picked up a '97 R50 with all 4 tires worn out and all struts leaked right out, so that gives me a good excuse to go ahead with a 2" AC lift however, I've got my non-running 4" lifted WD21 Pathy sitting out back... with a perfectly good set of 33" Micky Thompsons underneath her that I'm thinking would look great on the R50 and would really rather nooooot have to buy 4 new tires if I don't have too SO, to summerize this whole thread, 33" tires can be fitted onto a R50 if all the following conditions are met: 2" suspension lift 1.5" spacers up front (for a total of... 3.75" ?) factory offset in the rear and either: --- a good friend that's a bodyman --- you yourself are a bodyman --- deep pockets to pay a bodyman --- or beers and a grinder ... right?
  4. I'm not sure how much I like the oil pan hanging so low unprotected... kinda like playing football with no jockstrap O.o still, a very neat grocery getter manliest mini-van I've seen in a while xD
  5. an adjustable 4-link would be really sweet. Keep the final cost for parts required for a total install under or around $2000 (including extended drive shaft, brake lines, shocks and struts and everything else) and I'd be interested too.
  6. Sooooooo I went and looked at her today. Definitely going to need struts all around. lol Real bouncy... kinda like driving a water bed xD Besides a bunch of surface rust on the body and a bunch of dents everywhere (probably would have looked like that anyway after first week of me owning it), it looks in good shape. Interior is really clean and drive train feels, sounds, and looks really strong. Heavy sweat on the front diff, but that doesn't really phase me. Steering is even tight and on center! Think a 2" lift from AC some sanding, grinding and spray bombing and it'll be a nice rig again P.S. guy even dropped the price by $300 (sooo $1200.. Canadian... )
  7. Don't worry pezzy, I'll try to keep this one alive... I rather miss my first R50 Think this one will just mainly be used for work and daily driving while the WD21 takes abuse on weekends
  8. thanks guys I'll do a quick search. I'm going to go take a look at it tomorrow morning to see what exactly it needs, but if it's just struts like he said on the phone, I'll pick her up for sure
  9. Soooooooo with the '92 Pathy causing more and more headaches, and spending more time in pieces in the garage than buried frame deep in the mud where it should be, I'm starting to think about setting it aside for a while. While browsing some local used cars, I found this http://edmonton.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-cars-trucks-1997-Nissan-Pathfinder-SUV-W0QQAdIdZ230501937 Perhaps it's time for me to kill another R50? Hmmmmm.... =D It "needs new front and rear suspension" I agree, not being used to factory ride height anymore since my WD21.... I'm thinking 4x4parts.com should have something... how much lift do these things need to fit 33" tires? Thanks boys (and maybe Pezzy if she chimes in) for any feedback
  10. y'know... come to think of it... when I replaced my passenger side mirror I don't think I ever did put those washers back O.o hasn't fallen off yet lol
  11. hey man, how's progress on the pathy?

  12. I had to buy a whole new motor after a faulty belt let go in mine and pooched the heads! (after rebuilding half the motor and firing it up, it was discovered that a cradle for one of the camshafts cracked -_- snapped T-Belts are a PAIN in these motors, dont take any chances!!) As soon as my new motor arrives on my door step from Toronto I'll be replacing everything Precise1 just mentioned (I have Rob Lacy's contact info around here somewhere I'll have to dig it up... I'm going to need to order some parts pretty quick myself) xD
  13. Check out this thread, it is written by a Nissan/Infinity mechanic. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=12828 Here is another very detailed one. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=23280&st=0&p=416969&hl=timing&fromsearch=1entry416969 *stole this post from Precise1 in another thread*
  14. I always do the tensioner same time as the belt, regardless of condition. I'd go ahead and do the waterpump and thermostat while you're in there too. Not 100% required, but you might as well since it's all apart and could save you a lot of grief in the future. Also for belts (especially the timing belt), I recommend only Nissan belts. If you haven't seen them, there's some threads with step by step instructions to do it all on here Hope it helps, cheers
  15. hey man, bit random but I'm an R Gallant too, Ryan Gallant that is haha, welcome to NPORA

  16. +1 for recommending the timing belt RIGHT NOW it takes maybe a Saturday and a 12 pack beer to do and it will save you a TON of money and hassle later on.... trust me, I'm experiencing the loss of money and hassle of swapping motors right now due to a snapped belt -_-
  17. there should be an additional wire to the starter, a smaller positive to the 'start switch' http://www.misterfixit.com/starttst.htm

  19. I am by no means qualified to answer this question -but if it were my truck, I'd say do it and git r done! Whatever works But then again... None of the nine vehicles I've owned have ever passed a -real- safety inspection either... >_>
  20. IIRC From what I've read, the stock gauge cluster in these trucks seem to have issues and can just pooch right out after a while Picking up a used gauge cluster out of a wrecker is the most cost effective repair Another option is to get an after market tach-- they're REALLY easy to hook up the Canadian Tire #22 Nascar and crew were at our shop the whole day today If my cluster starts to go, I think I'm going to rip the whole thing out and fab up something like what they had I may be wrong, but I -think- those gauges are Equus 8000 series, I wasn't really paying attention at the time xD
  21. Get a late model Tercel =) those things are bullet proof little Yota's, cheap, and get ridiculously awesome gas mileage xD or... get a bike =) lots of cheap late 90's / early 00's cruisers and crotch rockets going for cheap from guys having middle aged crisis' that ride them for 2 weeks then put them in the garage and never ride them again... or young guys that get them to be cool, but then realize that education costs money and end up having to sell them RIGHT NOW so they can pay for next semester... or rent after blowing their paychecks on beer... I'm looking at a 2008 KTM 300 2-stoke that's been supermotarded it still does 160km/h and has been fitted with a 21L fuel tank (2x original tank size) so it's still usable on the highway, around the city for work and back anyway anyway, there's only 25 hours on the clock and the guy is only asking $1700 for it I'm fairly certain if I show up with $1200 cash with another $200 in my back pocket just in case-- I can get it for even less Bike when it's sunny Z when it's raining Pathy when it's snowing (if it ever snows there?) ANYWAY, moral of the post: lots of more economically friendlier options for a long drive commuter vehicle than buying yet ANOTHER SUV with all that money you save on gas, you can build up the pathfinder
  22. +1 we use that trick in our shop all the time
  23. I'm running duel terminal, I'll grab some pics today
  24. The states get all the best cockroaches we dont even get REAL cockroaches here in canada >_> Dear Southern and Western United States: Please send all your unwanted, rust free Nissan cockroaches East and North. Thank you. With Love, Manifesto xD
  25. the K&N Apollo intakes looks like they could be incorporated to work with a snorkel easy enough =) http://www.knfilters.com/universal/apollo.htm
