  1. If you cut it it will only make it worse. On there fenders there are 2 layers, and inside and an outside, when you cut them that high there will be a gap and both layers will be visible. Go to the wreckers and grab some new fender, you can get them for cheap. As for the rockers, with rust that bad they need to be cut off. But it also looks like the rust is above the rocker panel too. You are going to have to fix that before it gets really bad.
  2. Lol when I first read the topic title I was like whaaa? Isnt it normal for your rpms to go up when you stomp on it hehe. Sounds like fuel related does it only happen on an incline?
  3. Adam I already told you this, im a mega chick magnet. So no matter what im driving the girls are all over it.. Update on project: I took off the fender flares and mud flaps today when I got home from work. The guy had them attached with drywall screws Wtf??? When I took off the mudflaps there was also about 5 tons of sand and mud in there. How ever there was very little rust. Makes me wonder if the frame is made with worse steel then the body?
  4. You can make any vehicle turn heads man, and I am not looking to do heavy offroading, even if something did break ill just fix it. Ill look into the superchargers more they seem to be the better option right now. As for an update on the project I took out the rest of the interior and 80% of it was good, the rest was rusted on the floor. There was alot of moisture trapped in the carpet and it was really effecting the metal.
  5. Flat black is not bad as long as you add color. I am going to tint the windows and buy myself some light covers. Can my ECU be tuned? So you think I would be better off finding a 300zx and take the turbo components off it and just putting it on my engine? I plan on keeping this truck for years to come, that's why I am doing this. Also I vehicle is one of the first things people notice about you, we all looked at the guys with cool cars when we were younger, I just want to be one of those guys thats all.
  6. Do they even make super chargers for that engine? And what would the price be compared to a turbo kit? Sorry about getting defensive, but I don't like stereotypes, that's like me saying all you ole guys can't get it up anymore.
  7. Thanks for your confidence buddy.. I have done a restore before and worked on many cars. My father has 40+ Years as a body man and painter. Maybe you would like to tell him that.
  8. Okay guys, I have chosen to start my project earlier then expected because I want my beast done for college. I plan on doing a body off, while the frame is away from the body I am going to grind, sandblast , sand and weld it back to perfection. And hopefully stronger then ever. While The body is off I will be working on it, It's not to bad. Worst spots are under back seats, around the fuel access hatch and there is the mother of all holes under my drivers floor ( Or what used to be a floor ) I will be putting a body lift and hopefully upgrade some of my suspension components. If I get my student line of credit I am going to use that to pay for a new 3.3 L JDM engine and maybe a Turbo kit. The engines are on Kiiji for 700, Complete turbo kit runs for 900. I am also going to put a wider tire and hopefully taller. I will be redoing the Interior, and stereo system. My color scheme is a Flat black body, with Red and White accents. The interior will also be red and white. I will be redoing my exhaust, new headers and duals. I want them to come out in front of the rear wheels. I hope to have the frame and body done in 1 and a half months. After during that time I can save up for the body lift and any suspension components I need. My first step will be stripping the vehicle down and removing frame from body. I don't really want to make a large wooden structure in my yard so I am going to ask one of the farmers I know if he can lift the body off with his tractor. I am looking for some major advice on this part, mostly in the direction of hidden wires and cables or anything to avoid taking off that I don't need to. I am going to make a detailed photo gallery online and also keep notes so anyone wishing to do this project them selves. I took pictures today of what im dealing with. In the pictures you can see the rust and holes in the frame ( I can stick 4 fingers in one ) There are also two cracks under the passenger doors. The frame by the trailer hitch has been patched before but who ever did it did a horrible job and and there is already holes starting again. There is rust holes starting over top of the suspension and along the bottom of the frame rails. The front part of the frame looks good except for a lot of surface rust ( Witch I will get rid of. In the pics of the body you can see the hole in my drivers side floor about the size of a large platter. And it's falling apart more and more every day. There is rot under the back seat and a large amount around the fuel tank access point. So much that I didn't have to undo the screws, i just pulled it away from the floor. The outside body is in good shape, only bad spots are on the rockers, wort being in the left passenger side corner. There are some small dents but they are fixed easily. Enjoy and thanks! http://picasaweb.google.ca/110474407708868683434/ProjectEagleFinderWeekOne
  9. Im buying a red parts truck on Saturday but I think your too far from me to get the hood. If you want to drive up ill give it too you for a decen t price. Or I can give you a vent from my parts truck right now.
  10. Would be easyer to take the frame off and change the tranny or just do it from the bottom?
  11. Well I didn't have a specific Year in mind. I was just wondering if using a frame from those would be easyer then fixing this one. But I think I found a donor truck with a very good frame, rust proofed twice a year since he has had it and hes the original owner. But it's an Auto and mines a Manual. Are the frames still the same?
  12. Haha I have to fix that on mine. How ever its not my pins its the hole where the pins go in themselves, Im just going to weld a new plate on with the right sized whole over top.
  13. That doesn't look that hard eh? Do I have the remove the steering column?
  14. LOL my bad, as far as im concerned Canadian tire should be world wide haha. But any good place where you can rent tools should have one. Or even if you know a buddy that works in a body shop, or has one.
  15. They are good, My starter is Bosch too.
  16. What do you guys think the odds are of getting the pathfinder body to fit on another frame? Like an old Bronco or something.
  17. Go to Canadian Tire and rent a Uni Spotter. Sand down then area of dent. Use the Uni Spotter to weld the copper pins on. Then use the pull hammer that comes with the Uni spotter to pull out the dent. Grind off the copper pins. Put a light coating of bondo ( Make sure you mix it right ) Then cheese grade and block. Then put a fine skim of putty. ( Let the putty dry at least over night to get it nice and hard. Then sand down with a high grit sand paper. Prime and paint. I would suggest putting a black line across the bottom of your whole hood. That way you wont have to colour match. Earl
  18. That would be great if you could post it after you are done. I am not looking to start this project till October so no rush.
  19. im sure you could fab up a gas can holder easy enough?
  20. I was looking on Kijiji and I found something haha. Look at the sticker on the back window. Whos rig is it ?? http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-SUVs-trucks-vans-SUV-crossover-1995-Nissan-Pathfinder-4X4-offroad-truck-W0QQAdIdZ188462434#
  21. Okay great, I will also look for the thread. So I should just make the A frames out of lumber? I was just thinking of putting 2x4's threw the doors and getting some of my buds to lift it off haha.
  22. Hey guys, I have learned today that my frame is fubard. Everything from the transfer case back is falling apart and it is starting to crack in some spots. I don't want to sell the truck because I have invested money in it already to make it mechanically sound. I want to do a full restore on the Pathy. From bottom to top everything repaired and rust free. I have the time and most of the knowledge. My father and I have tackled projects similar to this before ( Minus the frame problems ) What I am looking for is advice on taking the body off the frame. The steps required and the easiest way. I am hoping to get the communities input in the whole project and let everyone follow along with pictures and videos. We can build a nice thread of anyone wanted to do this and also show some of the hidden surprises and how to fix them! Thanks!
  23. My 1995 has Jeep springs in it, I didn't install them but it's something to think about. You could probably grab a couple from the wreckers for cheap.
  24. Lol wouldn't there be at least 5 Fire extuigishers at the gas station?
