  1. Welcome Eugene, down here in south Louisiana we don't have to wait for rain there is always some mud somewhere! James
  2. We discussed this a while back. The problem you would have would be your distributor. You would have to find a mechanical advance distributor then you would be good to go. James
  3. First off y'all need a pick-a-part, I paid $20 for mine. What are you going to do for sun roof clearance? Or are you going to let the rear and middle feet hang over the side step down on the roof? I shortened mine to where all three feet sit flush, then I narrowed it until all of the rear and middle feet are sitting on a full surface. Now the front feet will be sitting over the front corners of the sun roof. The only thing I can think of is milling clearance on the front feet so that the sun roof will still open with the foot sitting over the corner. This will work but look crappy if anyone looks up that high. I guess I will have to get some pictures with it on to explain what I'm talking about. I'll see if I can do that this afternoon. If you get yours mounted before then take lots of pictures. James
  4. Definitely use a unibit step drill to drill your holes. They sell those at harbor freight too. A regular twist drill will not make a round hole in thin sheet metal. James
  5. This is what I got to put the xterra rack on my pathy with. I just haven't had the time to finish it up. I have used these before to mount mirrors on delivery trucks, they don't always work well. Sometimes the nut will turn in the sheet metal after its been compressed. I'm also worried about leaks. James
  6. 107k on my 87 and I still have the factory plug wires and belts! James
  7. Yes just new territory for me but its all good. Just like from a car engine to a big truck, runs the same just bigger. I see you have an ARB bumper. How about some close up pics of it? Some good shots from the front, sides, underneath and the mounting brackets. Sure would help us alot. James
  8. I didn't. I had found a tittle service in Alabama that claimed they could get you a tittle for any vehicle. You would send them a bill of sale claiming to sell the vehicle to them, then they would sell it back to you with the paper work to title it in your state. When I mentioned this to a buddy of mine he told me he did it. He sent the bill of sale and a couple of weeks later the cops showed up at his house to pick up the car which they said was stolen. So he got screwed! I didn't feel like getting screwed so I passed on the deal. James
  9. My winch came in now just to find the time to work on the bumper. My Dad and Brother will help me, so between the three of us we should be able to come up with something cool. I got the smittybuilt 8000 winch. The only winch I ever played with is the 2000# warn on my quad. The 8000# winch is BIG! James
  10. Y'all are loosing me here, when you say crank pulley are you talking about the stamped sheet metal pulley or the actual cast iron harmonic balancer that is pressed on the crankshaft? If y'all are talking about boring out the harmonic balancer, are y'all sure the crank balances the same? A guy on clubtitan started making lighter balancers for Titans to improve performance and through off the crank balance and caused all kinds of troubles. James
  11. Like they tell us at work; the fire extenguisher is not for fighting the fire, it's for clearing a way for you to get the hell out! So if you path to get away is clear screw the fire extinguisher and haul butt! Unless in this case you owned the gas station. James
  12. This man knows what he is talking about! I have a ton of unfinished projects laying around. I plan on building my own bumper too. Waiting on my winch to come in first. I sure could use a lot of up close and different angle pics of an ARB or any other winch bumper you may have. I'm planning to fab it up in wood first so I can see what it will look like before cutting metal. James
  13. If modding your bumper is illegal in your state y'all must not be able to purchase a buck stop bumper. They are designed to mow down living bodies without damaging the vehicle! Lol! James
  14. When I was looking all I could find for $400 had a slipping auto trans and no title. I found a bunch of ads with no title, how do so many people loose their title? James
  15. I hadn't thought that far ahead yet, the ignition would be a problem. I remember seeing after market duel carb intakes for the older pickups with a four cylinder but they already had a carb so the distributor would not have to be changed. James
  16. They have it backwards. The system runs in open loop with preset values until the motor reaches operating temp, then it goes into closed loop. In closed loop it monitors all the sensors to give you the correct fuel mixture. Everything must be in good order to function properly, even a loose or coroded ground could cause problems. I wish these trucks would be like the newer OBDII system that can give you live data. That way you could look at the sensor values to see if they are working properly. The only way to check these sensors is to back probe them but you must know what values they are supost to run at. First you must make sure your ignition system is in good shape then go to the emission system. With the limited data the computer gives us to trouble shoot I really wish someone made a replacement intake and carburetor setup. James
  17. Cool so they are working like they are supposed to! It figures I wouldn't discover this until after taking the doors apart. It was a real pain to get unlocked especially the passenger door. I didn't want to force them and break the plastic clip I read about some guys having trouble with so I would just jiggle it until it would unlock. It was getting to where I didn't want to lock it, but I don't trust the parking lot at work. The white lube fixed them up though, they unlock very easy now even without the solenoid. My windows still sound like they are straining to roll back up. I greased the tract well and will hope for the best. James You guys are the best owners manual I could hope for!
  18. I just found out that my 87 SE has power locks! There is no switch anywhere in the truck so I figured it only had power windows and not locks. I pulled the door panels to lube up the regulator tracts. Also the doors were hard to unlock with the key or the knob inside. When I got the panel off the driver door I saw a lock solenoid inside. I figured maybe the door had been changed at one time and they just didn't take it out. I started spraying white lube on the latch mechanism and I pulled on the lock rod and both doors and the rear hatch locked. I tried with the key and now when I lock and unlock the driver door the passenger door and rear hatch lock and unlock. I guess when the key was hard to turn I never turned it far enough to actuate the power feature. Is this the only way to use the power lock feature or was there a switch on the console? My console has a blank hole that might have had a switch. The Haynes manual doesn't have anything about power locks. This little truck is full of surprises. James
  19. Here's one https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/pathfinder-inch-body-lift-p-277.html It's half the price of the 3" suspension lift. And you don't have to get it aligned after. I have heard people talk about rollers for boat trailers too. I prefer suspension lifts because you get more ground clearance. James
  20. so if the "other" injector isn't working will it throw a code or just run weak? I didn't do the self diagnosis but used my old snap-on scanner to check my ECM when I first got the truck and it was clear. My truck runs smooth just has no power. If I give it a little throttle or floor it there is no difference in acceleration. I haven't had a chance to really go through it but there is nothing obvious wrong. I will have to look at them with my timing light to see if they both spray. Will just revving it hard in neutral make the other injector spray? James
  21. It's easy to test your coil. Have someone else turn the key for you while you place your finger on the coil wire. If you feel nothing coil is bad. If you jump backwards a little coil is weak. If you pee on yourself coil is good! James Fine print: this is only a joke, don't try it!
  22. Sure I'd like to see ideas. Is it a mount for the factory bumper or a whole new bumper? James
  23. It's a AR15 I built in 243 WSSM. It pushes a 95 grain bullet at 3100 fps (I checked it on a chrono) At 300 yard it only has 9" of drop. I haven't had a chance to push it further than that but use my Iphone program to calculate drops. So far its been right on. James
  24. I'm not worried about them getting in the way, you guys probably never been off roading in south Louisiana. We don't have big rocks and very few hills to climb just lots and lots of mudd! Once I get my pathy ready to hit the hunting lease I will post pics of what I will be riding through. Here's a few pics from last year on my quad. This is what happens when it rains too much. This is one of the roads that cuts through the middle of our lease. This is part of a trail going to one of my hunting areas. This is a little further down the trail where it starts getting a little deep. It was a little over a foot and a half. I sometimes have water coming over the headlights. A little rattling in the dark when you cant see because your headlights are under water and there are guys like this swimming around. Check out that shot, a few inches behind his head with my berreta 40 cal about 15 feet away. And I'll finish up with a pic of my last deer getter. May it rest in peace. It gave me 12 hard years rolling thought the crap and getting me back out. I will get some good pics of the pathy in action once I get her ready. I need tires first and then build a bumper for a winch because where I will be going no one else's truck will be able to come get me out. James
  25. The nissan nurf bars are pretty darn strong! I got a set off of a 93 at a pick-a-part. They sit there vehicles on rims welded together. On this pathfinder they had set the rims under the nurf bars toward the front of the truck and they didn't bend, they were holding up the front of the truck. I got the guy on the forklift to raise the front of the truck so I could reposition the rims under the frame, then I pulled off the step bars. The front brackets that wraps around the frame were bent a little but a little massaging with a hammer fixed that problem. James
