Already been there and done all that! I was basically standing on the frame pulling on a big ratchet when it just twisted out. I tried welding a bolt in the plug but I'm scare to get to close and burn thru the plug threads and really lock it in there, so my weld didn't penetrate the plug and broke loose. Now I'm thinking about drilling the plug out and tapping it for a regular pipe thread. James

I ordered some amsoil GL4 and got a quart of Lucas, then tried to remove the drain plug on the transmission. Some butt head must have used a 5 foot cheater pipe to tighten it up! The ratchet drive just twisted out. I tried turning it with a chisel but thats just cutting pieces off without budging the plug. Today I plan on getting some of those stubby extractors and hoping that will get it out. Has anyone had this problem, and how did you get it out? I can't believe a simple operation like just draining the oil can get screwed up this bad and will probably take days to complete. This truck gives me hell on everything I do to it. If everything I worked on gave me this much trouble I would have quit doing mechanic work a long time ago. James

I did just like you, bought one had it tested and put it on the shelf. Ben like three months now. I will get it mounted up soon. James

My brother has a hobart 140A 110 volt machine, and it works great. The biggest difference with the cheaper machines is the duty cycle. As long as you don't try to make one two foot long bead you will be fine. James

I used a old school C type spring compressor, you just have to come from the opposite side of the head. From the exhaust side to get the intake, I had to set it pretty tight where I had to kind of wiggle it on but it worked fine. Spend the money and change the sensor while you are looking at it. On my wife's quest, which is the one I was pulling the valves, the old sensor looked good and rang the same as the new one with an meter but the new sensor fixed the problem. And you don't want to have to take it all apart again. James

You would have to use the auto that comes in the titan too. The bell housings are totally different. the starter is under the intake manifold. Makes changing the starter on a wd21 sound easy. You would need a wrecked donor truck to take everything needed to get it going. The transfer case is on the same side as ours. James

Hell if you go with a mega squirt injection system just stuff a VK5.6 in there. From an 04 to 06 you got 305hp with no mods to the motor. It would get awesome fuel mileage too because the motor would be stock. If you ever looked at a VK5.6 close, once all the crap is taken off the motor itself isn't that big. Its all aluminum too so it wouldn't be much heavier than our cast iron block. James

The sway bar is ok, I just finished rebuilding the whole front end. Now that y'all are telling me that it's not normal I guess I need to crawl back under there. It honestly didn't do this before the lockright install. The lockright and front end rebuilt with hoohaa link went in at the same time though. Today I did some heavy swerving going down the highway around 45mph and it all feels tight so I will look it all over again to make sure I didn't miss anything and then just roll it till it gets worse. I hate to put it like this but my pathfinder was built in Japan, my titan was built in Mississippi. Kind of looks bad for American workmanship. James

This is the reason I vowed after my second Titan that I would never buy another Nissan. The dealers around here have nothing but idiots in the service department. I understand a new vehicle may have a few small problems, but when the service department cant even fix small problems I sure wont trust them to fix large ones. So basically I waisted my money on the extended warranty because if I want even the little problems fixed I have to fix them myself. Then I turn around and bought this pathfinder. So I changed my vow, I will never buy another NEW Nissan! Besides these older ones are way better built. James

They all looked ok when I was just under there changing the springs, I cant twist them by hand either. I guess I will have to pull one out and look at it. I don't get the death wobble on the highway so I figured they were fine. James

Hey Guys, I have never driven a truck with a locker or a spool so this may be normal. When I take off going straight I notice that the front diver side fender lifts first. Before the front end lifted even. Also if I dump the clutch fast and then let up on it the front end actually swings to the side like if someone was pushing on the fender. I thought I might have a tire low or with less tread than the other but they are pretty even. My guess if this is normal is that the axle being solid now is transferring the rotational effect of the drive shaft to the body? Or is the axle now trying to outrun the truck? James

I read the whole thing and now my head hurts! That is one sweet sounding 6! James

I said it feels like the compressor is turning on, meaning I feel a small lose of power just like the when compressor turns on. James

Really B, I thought you were running 31"x10.5"s

I used the treaded rivet nuts to mount my roof rack. I got them at harbor freight. I did pull the headliner so I knew what I was drilling into and you don't want your bit to go through the headliner or just rip a big hole in it. I used some acrylic windshield adhesive to seal the rivets and them used teflon tape on the treads of the screws I put in the rivets. Its also I good time to add sound deadening material and insulation to the roof while you have the headliner out. As Precise said I'm a machinist too and always over do it. It took me a month and a half to finally get the rack mounted up. Course I had to cut it up to make it fit so fitment took most of my time. James

Mine does that too sometimes. I shift gears and give it some pedal and it starts accelerating, then it feels like the A/C compressor kicks on (even when the A/C is not on) and it stops accelerating and I have to give it more pedal to accelerate at the same rate. I have replaced everything as far as a tuneup goes even the O2 sensor. My snap on scanner says everything in the computer is ok. It doesn't always do it either. It drove me nuts at first now I just give it more gas. James

anyone know a way to fix seatbelts so they retract?

Speaking of mph I still remember how excited I was when they raised the speed limit on I-10 from 55mph to 65mph! Wow I get to speed and it legal now! That was in 1986. James -
My 87 came with those shoulder style lugs on lego wheels. So it shouldn't be too hard to find. James

Wheres the love for us old guys? I mean old trucks? James -
And I thought I was going to be mudding through some poo! your supposed to dodge the patties! Thats not a click it a clunk. Wheel bearing wouldn't make that noise. I would go with johnm for starters. If you can reach the strut from above the tire, jerk it back and forth to see if you feel any slack. with the hood open have some one watch the top strut bolt while you jerk on it to see if it moves. You have something loose in there it shouldn't be too hard to find. James

Here is a tire size calculator but it doesn't have flotation sizes. James http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalcold.html

That looks cool, I wonder if they have them for an 87? James

Mine was doing this so I pulled the little triangle plastic piece off of the anchor up on the side wall. Apparently it was rubbing slightly on the belt and with the weaker spring from being 23 years old it would stop. I will try trimming it and putting it back on but may just leave it like this. Why screw with it if its working! James -
