  1. There's a ford in there? I guess I didn't pay attention to cars I know I can't afford! I never saw a multiple disk clutch in anything but big trucks. I guess I'm just an old school mechanic. They always used the button type friction disk too. I hated changing them. I've seen big trucks go 500k on a clutch but most driver only use it to get going anyway. James
  2. I wonder why Titans weren't included? My Titan radiator cracked the bottom tank at 40k. There were 10 other people on clubtitan that had cracked radiators at the same time as me. I would call that a defect. Mine was covered by my extended warranty but it still cost me $50. That was a funny discussion with a woman at the dealer. Dealer: The radiator is not covered under the powertrain warranty because it's not part of the powertrain. Me: So if it's not part of the powertrain, then the powertrain should be able to function without it? Dealer: A.................... I love to leave them speechless, I had to pay for it anyway. James
  3. Thanks for the warning, I'll try to keep the rubber on the ground! Good luck with the new born, I'll say a few prayers. Nothing can bring a grown man to his knees like watching his child suffer. I thank God every day that my kids have been healthy. James
  4. I like unibits but in my experiences using them on anything but sheet metal dulls them out too quickly. You spent too much money on milling tools to buy a good pitman arm puller? I posted a picture of the snapon puller I used, comes right off. I pulled 3 off in the pick a part trying to find the right length arm for the duel box mod. I guess I have the advantage of being a broken mechanic, I have lots of good tools. Maybe if you didn't live on the other side of the country I could loan you some. James
  5. I read where several people mention this. From what I've heard when the distributer gets wet it's not water getting inside the distributor that causes the problem. When cold water hits the hot distributor cap, it causes condensation inside. The condensation forms along the top of the inside of the cap and diverts the spark from going where it's supposed to go. This is what I've heard, I never tried putting silicon on the cap. All I remember is if I hit water on the road going to fast, I'm usually screwed. James
  6. You know all about the ECU and it's wiring now! Probably more than you wanted to know. James
  7. I figured you were talking about some off the wall import that I never worked on. You said ford used 4 disk? What ford would you be referring to? James
  8. Ok you got me there! I'll shut up now. James
  9. We were talking about standard transmission not automatics. I have replaced many duel clutch disk on heavy trucks but have never seen a duel disk clutch on a standard transmission on a car or light truck. If you have please give examples. James
  10. See what you got yourself into Mr "superior feature" Now go get your camera! James
  11. My wife drives an 01 Quest with around 130k. We bought it new so I know the temp sensors never been changed. If its that easy to change on the quest I will swap it just because. James
  12. Yes, the H233B looks like it has shims to adjust the pinion bearing preload so just tighten it back up. If you have the smaller axle, H190A i think is the number, it uses a collapsible spacer to adjust preload and you must not tighten it more than it was before or you will overload the pinion bearings. I always mark the position of the nut, and count the number of threads passed the nut. Put it back the same amount of turns and line up the mark. If you have a V6 you should have the H233B. James
  13. I used that stuff all over the roof and rear quarter panels when I had the interior out to put the roof rack. Now I need to pull my front door panels and add it in there. I can tell a big difference when I knock on the read quarter panels and the door. I'm gonna get hooked on this stuff now I want to do my titan too. James
  14. They have a really nice R50 in the Lafayette pick a part. Shinny dark green paint, leather seats, tinted windows. Looks like the auto tranny is the reason its there. I've seen three go thought that yard. James
  15. That's an understatement! It's worse than replacing the timing belt because you have to dig deeper. I'm looking for round tooth sprockets for mine for when I change the timing belt. When I do I'm replacing this sensor again. For $19 bucks you can't beat the insurance. My truck only has 108k on the whole thing and the sensor has been crapping out since before I bought it. It wasn't out completely just reading around 300 ohms off. I guess telling the computer it was colder than it was. So even if its running fine change the sensor when you change the timing belt. James
  16. That thing does sound good! Looks to be haulin ass to, fat friend and all! James
  17. Yes the coolant temp sensor that screws into the driver side head behind the timing belt. James
  18. Woohoo first tank with the new sensor is almost 17mpg in town. That way up from the 14mpg I was getting before. Hopefully the highway is better too. James
  19. Get it checked out, the oil pumps on these engines are reliable but I had an oil filter plug once on a ford. It would built pressure when I started it and then it would slowly drop down to nothing. It's probably your wire but don't just ignore it. James
  20. You need to put the name plate back on top the intake. That would make it look really cool! James
  21. Multi layers would give more clutch surface area. Thats why big trucks have two friction disk with a plate in between. It takes a large dished flywheel with drive lugs for the middle plate. It would basically add the weight of another flywheel to our little motor though. James
  22. I did mine on a mill. Used a 5/8 endmill with a .03 radius so it didn't want to grab. Indicated it in and just pecked my way through. Makes a nice round and very smooth hole. James
  23. A motorcycle wet clutch isn't metal to metal there are friction disk in it too. I have seen quite a few burn up on big bikes like my 9. Mostly from them not being adjusted correctly though. James
  24. I'm not saying don't buy the truck, I'm saying I have the worst luck. You may never have a problem, and I think toyota is a little better on their warranty work. I have a 100K 7 year warranty on my Titan and I finally fixed the problem by fixing it myself. Like B said once you work out the bugs if you have any you should be good. James
  25. Your name is James too! you must be a really cool dude! Your second video sound awesome, I love the sound of a high revving motor. You gonna break some @!*% now! James
