  1. So it was a VERY LONG trip down from NH to TX, almost 2,000 miles; and there were some bumps in the road... So to start off I did all the work to my new flatbed trailer like new lights, wired the electric brakes up, new class G mobile home tires for the mobile home axle (which this trailer is a "dead axle" so the axle is welded to the frame), wheel bearings. Then the passenger side fender came un welded because this trailer does not like to be towed empty, so I had it welded on before we left, and bought some chain and binders to go along with my 10k ratchet straps. We leave MA and head into CT and the hills started to get bigger as we went through the mountains and put my brakes to the test in my chevy, by the time we got into PA I had a 1/8th tank of gas and the next exit with gas was the last for 30 miles so I had to take it, it was at the bottom of a very steep inclined hill and the exit was liek a "S" turn and I had to use the transmission to slow the truck down the hill and smoked the brakes stopping it at the bottom of the ramp; then we had to pull over because the pedal hit the floor. We let them cool down and got back on the freeway and hit a huge pothole and the driver side fender came unwelded so we pulled over for the night at a hotel. Went to a awesome welding shop in the middle of PA some where and they hooked us up and welded everything for $40. Then when we got into VA we lost power because my battery's were dry so we put some bottled water in them. And by the time we got to Houston we stopped to get gas and noticed my trailer plate was missing so we drove the rest of the way home without a plate and good registration and didn't get pulled over once the whole trip. Also I went wheeling for the first time today and found about 75 acres+- around the San Jacinto river with endless amounts of trails and class VI roads.
  2. i am in the process of collecting the parts.... over time it will happen
  3. you still parting out your other one? I would take the parts that are better on it and put them on this one and make a super pathy! Or you could build both and just not care what happens to that one considering what already has happened to it; it is nice to not care if you damage something more......
  4. you can reuse the mount with the new bearings
  5. I mainly use 4LO havent used 4HI in awhile but will try it tomorrow.
  6. As for the wobbling thing it is your lower control link bushing on your 4 link in the rear (common problem with our trucks) easy to fix with new poly bushings you can order off 4x4parts.com. As for shocks there are many variations of what you can use it just matters what your going to use your truck for whether its wheeling or a mall crawler or a little of both; and it all depends on how much $ you want to spend. For struts I highly recommend KYB GR-2 struts which are very dependable just make sure you get the upper strut mount/strut bearing from a dealership or autoparts store as the ones that come with the struts usually fail and do not re-use your old ones. As for coils you can pack 2" AC lift coild with your SFD for 6" of lift in the front or you can run your stock coils and have just the 4" lift and as for the rear there is a kit that is sold with the SFD to either get some jeep springs to fit or you can order custom springs like me. I suggest you do some research and read this thread and visit this site.... http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=23821 http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=27981 http://www.krfabs.com/product_detail.php?productID=2
  7. It does it only sometimes but not as much when I am in drive than reverse, and it mostly does it when I am in reverse but it only does it in 4WD otherwise it drives perfect in 2WD with no problems.... which is why I believe it is the transfer case; I did replace the filter when I did the flush. I think it is the transfer case just 4WD gears and not 2WD since the majority of the time my truck is in 4wd because I dont DD it and it spends most of its time on the trail.... I found one on car-part.com for $100 and it has 98k on it so it should be good. I think I am going to change it and take apart the one I have and maybe rebuild it to use as a extra; you can never have too many extra parts. If it doesn't fix the problem then I need to start eliminating something else and start with the easiest and cheapest. Any feedback is appreciated.
  8. I am moving to Texas (TX) next week, and the more and more I think about it I believe it is just the transfer case and it has finally went from all the abuse I put it through?
  9. I need to change the gear oil, I plan on changing out all the gear oil when I get to TX just not enough time right now with still trying to get everything ready for the move and working full time. I just am at a loss of what it could be but am willing to try anything at this point.
  10. So I have been having this intermitten problem with reverse with my pathy, It only happens when I am in 4WD. When I am on the trail or anywhere in 4WD and I go to reverse my engine stalls out and I have to restart, even if I rev it up before I put it in reverse it will stall out, this problem has been intermitten and I thought it was the tranny because it only happens when in reverse and when I am in 4WD, so I flushed the tranny and it still does it.... I have no clue what it could be but am going to try and run some sea foam through my engine. Any ideas? It is fine in 2WD and goes in reverse fine without any hesitation.
  11. did you get them with the coils from the same company? Get the ones directly from the dealer, they are alot stronger; I had mine go out on me in 2 weeks after I did it all.
  12. Sounds like upper strut mount also known by some to be the "strut bearings" you want to get that taken care of when you can as there have been some members on here who have had catastrophic results with bad strut bearings.
  13. Well lets see... -First Aid kit -Tow straps -Spare CV -Spare Wheelbearings -High Lift -4 way -3 Assorted Tool boxes -3 gallons of Water -lighter -jumper cables -Grease -Rags -Trash Bags -Toilet Paper -Anchor Shackles -Tree Saver -Spare Hubs -Random Nuts/Bolts -Trail mix -knife -electrical/duct tape -hatchet -chainsaw (sometimes) -flashlight -spade -air compressor -spare wire -zip ties -spare tire -ratchet straps -spare shirt/shorts -brake fluid -power steering fluid -fire extinguisher -cell phone charger -a pipe (sometimes) -Beer (sometimes) -S&W .38 special snub nose (sometimes) And that explains why only 3 people are in my pathy at the most, you can never be over prepared; I don't know how many times my buddies have had to ask me for stuff on the trail.
