  1. hey Stew Welcome to NPORA. Which bit if AU you from? I'm in West Gippsland in Victoria Nick
  2. There's a few of us in AU that have also done this mod with similar fuel mileage figures. I used the Nissan Navara front hubs that had the same spline count as the Pathy. I used a 104mm hole saw to make the hole in the wheel cover. They look sweet, as do yours Oregonian. Some of us have noticed the 4wd lamp flickering sometimes but no pattern to it. Also, I think the US transfer case is different to the AU one so the oil pump issues are eliminated. Nick
  3. I think you could also fit an onboard compressor and cabin mounted up/down controls to make things easier for you. You can adjust from inside the cabin.. :-) Nick
  4. Thanks Cyril I have sent some Qs to Jasun. Nick
  5. Were the 40 x 40 mounts snug under the sill seam? Nick

  9. nice one Cyril I don't have any holidays for a while now. Got a big trip planned on http://www.4x4earth.com.au/forum if anyone is interested. Go to Trips and Gatherings > Grannys Flat Trip. It's in November. There will be many interstaters coming so welcome to join up and join in. Last year we had about 48 cars and the year before was about 40. Grannys Flat is on the edge of the High Country. Nick PS. I'm Nickj there too. Nick

  13. nup. sh1tty wife. I sent my mate from work up to the High Country tho. He hired a Troopy and 100 series. I plotted his route for him, insurance for his safe return. Nothing too steep or too deep! Chance they may freeze to death tho! nick
  14. Cyril Does the sq tube sit in the corner of the seam just below the sill? Or are they at the level of the lowest point of the underside? ie. rear trans crossmember? I picked up the steel finally today. I bent up some round tube for the steps but I am not happy with it. Lucky I only bent 1 side. Nick
  15. If they are anything like a VF Valliant, we didn't even get through a stubbie doing them! that was in my youth though.
  16. Nice one Dave, getting the car back.

  18. Good. We did a mine trip up to Walhalla with an authoritive person last weekend. Great fun. See report here. http://www.4x4earth.com.au/forum/gippsland-latrobe-valley/7045-2010-walhalla-mine-trip-report.html Highlight, crossing the river on the way home. See pics on above post. Nick
  19. I don't plan on stopping in the middle of river crossings. I know this can happen though due to many reasons. Nick
  20. Quite simple, it isn't. It just helps to keep the water out of the engine bay area and electrics. My model Pathy has a pre-air box under the left fender with a couple of chambers in it. Not sure which other year models also have these. The actual intake height on my model is just under the top of the fender almost level with the bonnet. The air or water has to flow down the pipe to the bottom of the first chamber, then up to the top and into the next chamber, then fill that up before it can get drawn in. Thats the theory anyway. There would be a big air lock under there which would eventually fill up with water if the car was stationary for any length of time. Except for a quick dip in the river! Nick
  21. Hey all I felt the need to add this useful device for all to share as an alternative to fitting a snorkel to your Pathy. Myself, I don't see the value vs cost and trouble to fit a snorkel for the amount of REAL use it will actually get. We don't have many deep water crossings round our way, but there are a couple that I love doing that will get water well over the bonnet when the river is up. So rather than a snorkel (I have never been a fan of them) I set about doing something easy, adaptable and cheap. I bought a poly tarp from the local hardware store, I think it was 6ft x 4ft (180cm x 120cm), some 8mm shock cord and some 2.5mm fencing wire. Laying the tarp across the bonnet, long ways across the bonnet, you can then meaure up your shock cords for the guards. I just hooked one on each guard flare, if you tie them firm but not too tight, you can use the tarp for other vehicles, including bullbar/nudge bar equipped cars. When you do the underside hooks, don't need to use shock cord. Just attach the hooks direct. The tension in the flare hooks will keep them in. Here are some pics. Note** Hook on the lower side, hook and shock cord on the upper side. Tarp fitted before river entry Have fun! Nick
  22. Thanks Tex I'm really chuffed to win TOTM! Thanks also to DavefromOz for the nomination and all those people who voted for my truck! You can't see it in the pic but I did have a bra/blind across the front. I did a post in General Forums on this simple and cheap option. Tarped up before the crossing The river crossing in this shot is quite short but as you can see, can be deep. my boss crossed it in his Land Rover Disco 3 a couple of weeks before me and pointed me down there for my turn. I did make it out the other side and the air filter was still dry. Nick
