started my lift...have some questions
csutke replied to laxman0324's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
They would prob be able to help with the rear more than the front as we have the same rear setup as some jeeps, they may be a little confuesd on the the front though. Its really not hard at all to do. When me and my dad installed the lift on my old pathy i thought it was gonna be harder than it ended up being. Im sure that there are many thread on here that can walk you through step by step install. And no i wouldnt have a mechanic install it as all the quotes i got to intsall it were like 4-6 hundred. If you do install it your self just be patient, take you time and expect things to not always go your way. When you do get aroung to installing it go out and PBlast the chit out of all the nuts and bolts as it will help. And if you have access to air tools it will make things 10x easier than just using hand tools. Good luck. Ohh BTW where are you located at? -
MMMM headers on an R50, Id like to see that.

NaturaTek is you want to find a site that has a lot of X's on it and dont want to deal with XOC check out http://www.roninwheelers.com/vbulletin/index.php. Its a site for mostly nissan's in colorado but they do have some other members that have other rides and its now started to grow out side of Colorado.

R50 or R51? you could always do some bushwackers that arent brad specific. Is there a reason that you need them or do you just want them?
-
I have a set of front and rears that came off a stock 98, make me an offer and its yours.

If it has the 3.5 its a 2001.5. Also if you look at the metal plate on the firewall where it has all the specs it will say in what month it was made, and it might also say that on the plate on the drivers side door jam but im not sure about that one.
-
mike he does not have a 3.5
-
wow that is long, but he does make some really good points

Ding ding ding we have a winner, When you go to set up your court date tell the bailiff that you want to see the DA not an ADA. Then explain to the DA that you were being harrassed by the cop and explain the situation. I had a friend in HS that was a big guy. Like 5'8" and pushing 275. His parents got him a honda CBR600 for a b-day present, the day he got it he got pulled over for doing 70 in a 35 with out proof of insurance, registration, or motorcycle license (very stupid of him) When he went to court he talked to the DA and stated that the cop was harrassing him for being a "Fat kid on a little bike" after hearing this the DA threw out the case and dropped the charges. (all this really happened, he wasnt just blowing smoke). So tell the DA that you were being harrassed by the cop and more than likey the case will be thrown out, and if that doesnt work then they know your side of the story and may be willing to drop some of the fines and what not

Id say go through Napa they normally use WIX filters and they are a good brand. And again Remove your spare tire, not just drop it down but remove it. It will make the job 10x easier
-
I believe that phatG20 has them as well.
-
Good info Pickles. When doing the inside of your rig DO NOT use anti-static sprays as they WILL remove the dye from the upholstery over time.
-
The filter is gonna be in the back above the rear diff area, its easy to locate and i would recommond lowering and removing the spare tire first it makes the job a whole lot easier to do. Ohh BTW welcome

alex do you have stock wheels? I have installed the hubs on my old 98, and need to do it on my 04 but I had aftermarket wheels on my old one and stock wheels on my new one.

if you have problems with the rear loosen the bolt that hold the panhard or take it off, as that is what was limiting me after i hacked my swaybar links. -
Evap very sml leak. Go to phatg20.net and you can DL the FSM, what your looking at is on page EC-611
-
yes you can just replace the insert, or if theres still some left, take a flap wheel grind the rust off and herc it.
-
Hey ill go shopping with you if ya want, ive got nothing else to do tomorrow.
-
New car looks good, sorry to hear that about your pathy, i know the feeling.

So on my way back to the rig about a week ago I started noticing that the tranny was acting weird. Maybe its just cause its a different engine, I used to drive an R50 with the VG and now drive an R50 with the VQ and it was the first time that I had spent some real time in my new ride. What would happen is going up even a slight hill, the tranny would have real hard up shifts to 4th, and if I left of the gas before it would shift the tranny would act like it was in N, meaning that as soon as I let off the gas the RPM's would take a huge dive from around 3k+ to around idle RPM's. Oh BTW I have an 04 with 53k miles
-
ok that sounds like whats happening with mine I have to wait a second or 2 for it to take
-
So in my 04 pathy I was just wondering if what I dealing with is normal for the cruise control. When Im driving and want to turn the CC on I hit the on/off button but then have to hold and sometimes press multiple times the set button. Is this normal? Also some times on long hills and high RPMs the CC will cut out and stop working, Im talking like holding 3k+ for an extended time.
-
cool can you snap me a pic if you get a chance?
-
Im getting around 18 in town with mine, but its also an 04 so it a little newer. What do you mean by this? Do you have pics or a link to a write up? Was it easy/cheap?
