  1. Took the bulbs out of a bad cluster in a pathfinder today... I noticed the ones by the major things (speedo, tach, fuel, etc.) had like a blue rubber on top of them... What are these all about? To give it a different glow? and would it hurt to remove them? possibly make my dash lights appear whiter?
  2. on the 94 it's screwed on under the trim pieces. But the full bar is 3 pieces. and I tried finding a pic for the above poster but google didn't give me any images.
  3. We have a computer that gives us prices other yards are charging for certain parts and we usually go off that. It's also usually to try and get what we put into the car and make a profit. Same with just about anything. I know alot of junkyards that sell stuff real cheap (but they aren't run right business wise) and some that charge a ton of money. so it's hit or miss.
  4. We are paying a small fee to be included on the list. But nothing extravagant. Had to go through a ton of hoops and such just to get approve. and a TON of explorers got taken off the road. Most the top 10 list of cars traded in were explorers of various years.
  5. yeah I figured i'd have to take those pieces off. I just wasn't sure if it was stuck on with the regular cloth part.
  6. reattaching with glue while it's still in isn't happening lol. I'd much rather take the headliner piece out itself. It should just be clips but I've seen some goofy headliners. My old SL1 headliner I used glue on though and it made a hell of a mess. I'll never use it while it's inside again. But that vinyl bar is separate from the rest of the headliner?
  7. A lot of clunkers are not being sent straight to the crusher. People assume that's what happens. And that's what the government is trying to say. The whole Cash 4 Clunkers businss is BS. A lot of dealers are still waiting on their money (i thought we were in debt). Not to mention when a good percentage of those people who couldn't afford a new car (hence why they are driving a clunker) default on their loan. Then you tank the economy again. Then you eliminate multiple cars from the pool. So you dwindle the numbers of cars to get your parts off of. Not to mention they have to be crushed by a certain point and time. We have around 20 CFC cars at the junkyard. Some you can see why they were traded in like that. Others... Well. We got a 99 Bravada. Top trim level. MINT condition. Not even 50k miles. Engine is seized as tight as possible. 85 LTD, 60k original miles, mint condition. We've got a few F-Series pickups that are junk. But for the most part most of it is near mint condition or very acceptable condition. One of the big things is the government is strictly regulating what junkyards get these vehicles. You gotta go through alot to hook them in. And they HAVE to be destroyed after a certain time period. 180 days or something around that. Also it's Sodium Silicate they run in the engine rather than Oil. Liquid Glass essentially.
  8. i hate odd colored interiors. I guess back then it was popular. I couldn't live with a red interior. I've always had grey or black. That's my preference. It looks clean though. I dig that grill more than my 94's though.
  9. yeah I can see where they'd be quite the pain. Not to mention I imagine 15+ year old plastic isn't what it used to be. Luckily mine are in the headliner. Although I was confused at first cause I saw no speakers but heard sound. Then I looked up and realized they were there lol.
  10. yeah in the hatch wouldn't be as good of an idea. It'd be fine for a while. But over time I think it'd eventually mess them up. Not to mention having to run wires and worry about the internals of the liftgate. Although it'd be pretty cool to have one of those fold down speaker things like the Dodge Caliber has lol. also didn't the rear speakers in the early WD21's have some kind of floating thing over the rear wheel wells? I saw one yesterday and thought it looks... different.
  11. How does it come down? Or the grey vinyl covered piece in the center, does that come down seperately from the rest of the headliner? the vinyl is coming off mine and I'm going to replace it or reattach the vinyl. but it's got pushpins holding the vinyl up now.
  12. While I am not denying your rattle canned interior plastics look "awsum." There are just better ways to go about it. rattle canning something usually turns out just looking cheap. Dash trim kits can look cheap. and some can look awful. It's all personal preference. There's more prep if you rattle can an interior than if you use the trim kit. That and a trim kit isn't going to be permenant lol
  13. 193k. As far as I know original engine and drivetrain. my truck is a one owner truck though so I can't complain.
  14. Yeah sucks to see them destroy a good bel air. But I guess it illustrates a good point of how far safety has come in 50 years. Nice to see it put into perspective. But yeah. Death for the Bel Air driver. This one features interior views
  15. for the time they were. I guess in today's day and age it feels weird to think about it. Back then 200hp was amazing (the Corvette was rated at 185 in 1978). Now we got 260hp I4 compacts. Just sort of feel jaded.
  16. Yeah that's how it usually works. I don't mind some debates so long as it isn't the usual internet babble and lame or immature comebacks.
  17. I hated the K-Cars with a passion lol. But you have a point. I guess from a fuel mileage standpoint it worked. But a car that handles like a minivan is no fun. Although they had other cars on the same platform I liked. I actually kind of liked the LeBaron with the flip lights. There are some other goofy ones I dug. Daytona was on there at some point. And the Shelby Chargers I liked alot! I wish the Shelby Rampage got a turbo. And before I hear "It wasn't real" it was a dealer installed option for the Rampage lol.
  18. Al Qaeda exists. The government is as crooked as anything. But having friends in the military who have done the fighting and aren't "believing the lie" that far away. I believe Al Qaeda exists, and loose change and all that is utter BS. The problem with the country is, nobody wants to bother. Election day is just a day when you get off work or school. People just want the government to run their lives which is a big problem. A large percentage of conspiracy theories, and zeitgeist this, reptile that, are all just absurdities. I'm not a genius or anything. I call it as I see it. Obama could've said he'd turn water to wine and people would've believe him. He got a large percentage of votes for his race. A few places I know of had black panthers in front. Voter manipulation? This year's election overall was just... a disaster. After the sheepish hatred on Bush (it became the "in" thing to hate him), that almost any republican didn't stand much of a chance. Then Obama's race played a pretty big part. Not saying there weren't people who liked his socialist views, just that he had alot of people simply doing it for the wrong reason. But yeah. People are easily controlled. Conspiracy theories capitalize on it as well. 2012, Reptillian Agenda, Nibiru, etc etc. All just giving you the illusion of an explanation to point fingers. Rather than actually do something. we could talk about politics all day. All I know is after federal tax I'm broke lol
  19. Oh god. I'm so sorry. My friend has an 07 focus. He's not a car guy so it's a "point a to point b" car. But it's one of the worst cars I've ever driven since the Chrysler K-Cars.
  20. the stock roof racks are a bit weak. Last I checked they were only rated for around 80 lbs. max.
