Not sure on 2 doors because the distributor is a little different but look around the housing and you will see either a metal tab sticking out or a wire connected to it.

I have been chasing down an annoying tick as well. It's not a crazy sounding tap that you hear from a broken manifold either so I don't know. No idea what it is but It may most likely be the joining flanges at the Y-pipe. I know for sure there are no leaks at my headers.

Is there any value in having the oil changed at a dealership?

That is true, dealers are much better with handling appointments. -

In my experience, private family owned shops are the best. I tend to stay away from chain places and dealers for my repair and maintenance. -
There is also a ground wire on there, which sometimes gets lost somehow.

Nissan Pathfinder 2 Door Zombie Apocalypse Survival Machine

saw this before ruined a perfectly good 2 door if you ask me -
Cloth heated seats are fantastic in the winter. You get in and your ass is already warm before the hot air starts blowing. Luckily, for those of us without the heated seats option, the VG engine will already produce heat much faster than 90% of the vehicles out there. So while they are nice and I would love to have them, it's not really that big of a deal for me.
-
Exactly! Looks like a dark gray color to me.

I did write that, I reverse engineered that entire system. The BPT valve only came on late 1995 VG engines, on California models, and on some Canadian models. You can add that system to your truck if you don't have it and there is a good increase in performance with it. Kind of like cutting off the EGR but at the same time still keeping everything state inspection legal.

You pretty much got it, the knock sensor will retard your spark timing and the power will be terrible until that code is taken care of. Make sure nothing is triggering the knock sensor like a heat shield rattling somewhere or the pipe banging against something. If those vibrations resonate to the engine, the knock sensor will pick them up. That's something you want to look at before considering to replace the sensor. About the timing belt, if you are a tooth off or so, it will have a random misfire and not be able to rev above 4000 rpm or something like that. Don't bother to try to fix anything by turning the distributor to other than where it should be. It doesn't work that way on these (1990+ only) engines.

It's a BPT valve. http://www.nissanpathfinders.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=30704&view=findpost&p=582631 The BPT valve uses the exhaust back pressure to modify (or reduce) how much vacuum the EGR valve receives, which determines how much the EGR valve opens. So in a case where there is too much back pressure built up, for example during a high load situation, the BPT valve releases the vacuum to the EGR valve to close or reduce the EGR valve to gain more power. In other words, the BPT valve is there to create a vacuum leak, which is why it should have a filter, to disable the EGR valve for more power. If the BPT valve does not operate properly, for example if the diaphragm is torn or the valve is damaged, it is like having a vacuum leak to the EGR valve, which will cause the EGR valve to never open resulting in no EGR operation. On the contrary, if the BPT valve never opens, from less back pressure for example, it's like the valve does not exist. The BPT valve can be bypassed by disconnecting the small vacuum hose that's on it and plugging it; this is the hose that goes from it to the EGR valve and the override solenoid. Then the EGR valve will be controlled only by the intake manifold vacuum and the override solenoid but I have no idea if that may cause issues at certain speeds and/or loads. To test the EGR operation, connect a vacuum gauge to the "vacuum signal source" and see how much vacuum there is. If there is at least some vacuum then the EGR is operational and if there isn't any then the EGR system is non-functional.

I think both Nissan's and Infiniti's designers are on a combination of drugs in both the car and truck departments. The G coupe, M sedan, Titan, and GT-R are acceptable but the rest is lame. Those sales haven't been that great for a reason. -

What's the big deal? If you want more fuel, add a fuel cell in the cargo area. -

No, Infiniti is an example of everything WRONG with today's SUVs. -

idk i like the older style pattern and seats it's not as boring looking as the newer stuff they may be a bit harder to sit on because of more ass hauling days that they saw before the brownish-gray also looks nicer to me than the 93+ gray but i might be more used to the older gray -
Just a heads up, the one size down sold at NAPA auto parts is actually 11-13mm. Put one of those and it tightens no problem.
-
Yeah that last one at the bottom is like an L shaped tab, do not pry that off, just pull up on the piece and slide it out.
-
Just pry them off and be careful to not break the plastic.

That's right! Every auto maker has their questionable cars but as nismothunder pointed out, most new Nissans are also ugly as hell. These days I would rather buy a Chrysler or a Ford. I find new Nissan designs to be very repulsive. The only worse brand is Toyota (Lexus). I just laugh at people who drive these ugly as sin vehicles. As to why they are still around, I don't know, they really should not exist anymore. People must like leasables that they can drive for a year and then get rid of. THIS IS DOG CRAP --------------------- THIS IS NICE -
It's all a matter of if you can get the bearings and the seals.

Renault was very involved in Nissan since 1999. The cars just suck. I have worked on newer (01+) Nissan cars (not trucks) before and was very disappointed with their quality. It seems to me like nothing lasts past 30,000 miles! -

From the design of the vehicle to where that vehicle is assembled, it all matters. If one of those "from design to production" steps are a failure then you will get a crappy vehicle. I'm not saying that all American plant workers suck but American Nissan operations aren't the greatest. Now, Nissan is also making crappy designs, just look at their recent model line, 90% of it is Renault garbage in Nissan's overalls. You can't blame the workers for that but you can blame Nissan and their CEO. Nissan still only exists because they went on a cost cutting operation in 1999, which explains their steep decline in vehicle quality. The only exception from all this mess is their flagship model, the Nissan GT-R. -
yeah i can see the need for a SYE here, especially with 37 inch tires i can't think of any one that stocks them though

Not bad for an extra tank. If you have the bed, you can throw a shell over and have yourself a XL Pathfinder.
