  1. not worth it, slip up and your head is done its easier to get the turbo 300zx studs and use those you could install headers though, they make your engine bay look nice
  2. its like glass marbles bouncing inside the cylinders the owners manual describes it as a "metal rapping sound" its very high pitched, an average consumer camera can't pick it up like it can pick up rod knock, leaking manifolds, and flat valves
  3. thanks its funny how its almost normal for this thing to spark knock lol it even says so in the owners manual, look at the fuel recommendation page
  4. well i don't have any issues on either octanes i was just wondering if that pulley provides any additional balancing or if its safe to put new marks on it like they did btw my timing was about 10 degrees off, it ran at 25 lol
  5. OK, the timing is set to 15 deg exactly!! Now using new OEM cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. They told me that instead of trying to line up the pulley with the damper, they just made new marks on it. The pulley position really doesn't matter right? Spark knock on load is gone. They said if it comes back on that setting, don't use 87 but use 89 or even 93. I think it should be good but I need some comments. BTW, 15 degrees seems to give less HP but the most torque.
  6. meh if you think an odometer that doesn't move is bad, try an odometer that likes to move around spontaneously like mine does lol my tach and speedo work fine tho
  7. i wouldn't mess with it because then you will have to take the entire engine apart again if something goes wrong if you want more power, its more worth it to put a v8 in there or a vg33e
  8. they had a few of those engines made for the sports car throughout various years VG30E VG30ET VG30DE VG30DETT etc... D means dual cams and T means turbo the most power ive seen out of a VG30E was about 160hp http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_VG_engine#VG30E note the lower torque and higher hp and vice versa which probably means different timing settings
  9. ok thanks do you know the exact pressure? i took it to the shop to try and get the pulley corrected
  10. you can use the heads but i don't know if that will give you any power difference at all
  11. i can't believe they didn't key the pulley on the damper that is such a poor design
  12. if you are talking about the same VG30E engine as used in the sports car then yes
  13. extra power could come from a different timing setting and higher octane gas
  14. so apparently the owners manual says that spark knock on acceleration is normal however consistent spark knock when cruising is not and the engine should be adjusted at the dealer to fix it anyone know what adjustment are they talking about? i have that consistent spark knock when cruising (even with 93 octane fuel)
  15. i asked for 94s plugs at the dealer since my engine is out of a 94 thanks for the info
  16. can anyone tell me what is the correct heat range for this truck? right now i'm using the dealers NGK-BKR5EY plugs apparently they are the Hot heat range
  17. the reason i keep mine on is because i already have rust spots behind them so having them on hides the rust
  18. its the fuel sender mine did that same crap until i changed it and then it became more accurate i have a feeling they revised the resistor
  19. oh the squeal wasn't from the engine at all, it was either from something i did to the camera while holding it or a squeaky gas pedal my camera can't pick up the high pitched sound but as far as i know its definitely a spark knock at load it sounds like glass marbles bouncing around in cylinders
  20. OMG!! The tick is so high pitched that the microphone in my camera cannot pick it up. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NY4AoXoNyh0 Well thats as good as I could get it right now. Listen from about 0:11 to when my camera makes a squeak sound. I think it sounds like a blender.
