How many of you members, can remember when the Olympic Games were for Amateurs only. When the Olympics was an amateur sport, the true picture was told. It wasn't only a case of who gets paid the most, who can afford the best gear, who can develop drug masking agents. It was TRUE sport. This is also true for the Summer Olympics.

I change the oil every 5000 Kms and then change the filter as well every 10000 Kms. Just clocked up 165000 Kms on a February 2003 Model. I am also running on LPG and do a bit of towing as well. Have done about 70000 Kms towing an 1800Kg Caravan (Camper Trailer) Cheers,

Try placing some shrimp heads inside someones hollow curtain rods.

It is a Pop-Up, but only the top 18 Inches is canvas, the rest is solid. All up Weight about 1800 Kgs. It towed fine, only problem, on some of the steeper grades, had to switch back to normal Petrol (Gasolene). Cheers, Colin

Not a wise move to run it empty on any vehicle with fuel injection. Even though you have a fuel filter. I have a dual fuel (LPG as well) and I don't let it go far past the fuel light warning. Usually a fill from warning light, requires about 65 litres. Cheers,

From an outsiders view. If the Government needs to help the Auto industry, then instead of giving the money to the companies and then allowing the shareholders to be saved (who really have taken a gamble with their money), perhaps as a means of stimulating sales of US produced Auto's, they spend the money giving rebates to purchasers, in effect reducing the price to Taxpayers. This means that the "man in the street" benefits, not the wealthy who will survive anyway. Cheers,

LPG here in Australia, is, I believe what you call Propane. I have had my Pathfinder fitted to run on LPG. Makes a big saving on the cost of running, $37 for a tank of LPG. I have a 60Litre Tank, fitted where the spare was and so I have the normal 79Litre of gas plus 60 litres of LPG. I did notice a little drop in power, but is only a problem when towing up hills. The thing to remember is that 60 litres only equates to about 51 litres of gas, due to the specific gravity, specific heat etc. My weekly bill is under half what it was before. The other added advantage, is that the engine lasts longer, because there are no impurities and so it burns cleaner. Here in Australia, all the cabs run on LPG, so that should be a good indicator. Hi, I've got a 2002 Australian Pathfinder with the 3.3 V6 and regularly tow a Caravan (Camper Trailer), its max weight is about 4000 Lbs. All the 2002 models were auto in Australia, and I have no problems. I did think about an additional oil cooler, but haven't done it and (Touch wood) no problems. I also have a Tekonsha brake controller and electric brakes on the trailer. Cheers, Colin

Another way is to back the nut off a couple of turns and go find a rough dirt track with corrugations and get a bit of speed up. This has been known to loosen up frozen ball joints. Cheers,

As a rough guess, if you change timing belt at 60,000, I would suggest another change at 120,000.

Well, its in the dealers getting done, got a good quote, then they said that it needed another $300 or so of work done but it would be ready on time. I then asked them to confirm that timing belt had been changed, "it doesn't have a belt", yes it does, its a 3.3 litre, and it says to be replaced as part of 100,000 service in the maintenance book, "wait a moment, we'll call you back". Ten minutes later, "unable to finish today, but we can lend you a set of wheels until its finished".

The engine is a VG33(E), The Engine Maintenance service book says to replace the timing belt at 100,000KM (60,000Mile),plus all the usual fluid replacements and check, brakes and all the other usual things, but appears quite adamant that the timing belt replacement should be done. In Australia, we have a 100000Km service that includes a Timing belt change, so I assume that in the US, this is the same with the 60000 Mile service. If this is so, what is the typical cost charged by a Nissan dealer. ?? Cheers,

Had this problem about 30 years ago, got one of those fancy torsion wrenches that you use a block and tackle on. It could torque up to 1000 ft Lbs. The dial reading when it came undone was 735Ft/Lb. I think what VW do is torque the nut then drill the hole for the split pin so you are left with "Burrs" on the thread. Try cleaning up the pin hole. Cheers, and lots of luck.

I just cleaned my throttle butterfly valve, lots of black gunk in there. Haven't had it stick since. Re the Altitude, the ECU should look after the problem and using all the O2 sensor and the Exhaust gas sensor, should compensate the mixture. When flying in a gas engined aircraft, as you climb, you "LEAN" the mixture, not make it richer. Cheers Colin

Just to make sure about the moisture, put Methylated spirits,(industrial alcohol) through first on the bleeding, that will absorb any moisture and clean out the cylinders, then put new fluid in and bleed until nice clean fluid. I used to do this regularly on all brake lines to keep them free of moisture. as the normal fluid is Hygroscopic and does get moisture in due to condensation.

Currently don't use one on my pathy, but have used them on other vehicles in the past. Great, especially if "Towing". If I put one on the Pathy, will put it in Series with Pathy cooler, in order to really keep fluid cool. Two problems with oil getting too hot, 1, you get to eject it out of the dip stick holder, 2. you "Burn" the oil and any reidue so formed doesn't do the transmission much good. Cheers, Colin

In Australia, all new pathfinders are Auto, the only way to get a manual is to by overseas and import.

I mounted mine in the spot previously occupied by the small tray beneath the Stock CD/Radio. Mine is a 2003 Model. Cheers, Colin
