frontier21k had a cage I believe b4 he hacked the pathy into a short body with a truck bed...I saw one on here not too long ago with a cage b/c they rolled their fronty? on the highway (whoops I just made the ocnnection Richard was the 1 that rolled his fronty and did have an internal cage... theres been some custom fab jobs...along with some exocages...It's possible if you have the right tools/friends to get the work done...just take the time to lay it out and get it planned then do it...just be conscious of weight

You can lengthen your breaker bar by adding a pipe on to it...Long before Igot my breaker bar I was using my ratchet with bars on it but decided I need to get one when I scored it at pepboys for like $5 and I think its the 18" long one

My mom got me a Companion tool kit from sears when I was 16 it had your common size wrenches and 1/4" and 3/8" sockets with a couple extensions and a ball peen hammer, channel locks, needle nose and whatever the wirecutter name is...They got me through most jobs on the pathy...I eventually purchased a breaker bar and 1/2" to 3/8" adapter and larger sockets as required...The only thing it lacked was deep well metrics so she got a craftsman set of those... I used those for probably 6 years...They have now been retired from the tools I carried everywhere to the ones in my tool box and if I were you I'd wait till the day after thanksgiving...last year I got the 253 piece "mechanics set" for $100 off the day after thanksgiving...that is the only thing I went out for and I was back at the house in less than an hr...even jumped some curbs in the pathy to park b/c I got tired of riding and not finding a single spot...

Thanks...but these are the parts I need...I have the wiring just need the parts to convert my tranny from a mechanical to electrical no worries I guess I should have made it clear that I've put the 95 wiring harness in my 87 but still ahve the 87 gear in the tranny along with the mechanical connection which I need to swap out

so I would then have a mechanical gage still with the VSS to go to the ecu? I would like to use just the electrical gages but if I could use that adapter to do that then I could create a box in the engine compartment or something to maintain the "original miles"

I am looking to convert over the mechanical speed sensor from my 87 to an electrical one out of a 95 (or whatever ones have electrical speedo/odo's) ...I've searched and couldn't find any information on it...I'm pretty sure I've read somewhere previously where people have done tranny swaps from other make/models and swapped the internals as well as the sensor... If someone could point me to a topic on this or a how to I'd really appreciate it...I haven't pulled a tranny/tcase apart so this is going to be new territory for me... could this be completed in a JY with basic hand tools bc while I'm home I may hit the u pull it yard... Thanks in advance

pull the axle shaft and count? its about a 10-15 min job I believe...

Theres a post of mine out there with a "quick fix" its not necessarily the correct way to fix it but eventually the cruise will stop working too b/c of this...I just shimmed the plate so it made contact with the 2 copper fittings again... to find it, its under one of the cruise control problem threads...

I wouldnt try to use the rattle can chrome...its not very good stuff...the best option I think would be to let a pro rechrome them or leave them how they are...

yep 2 10mm nuts...pull the inside door panel and you can access it through there...the PITA is getting the stupid lil lever to go back in place for the lock actuator...not a difficult job if you have small hands...bigger hands its a bit of a task...it took me longer than it should have to get it completed... but yea that was a bad went to open it and was left standing there with the handle in my hand....doh

I've actually painted mine 2 times...1st time was a semi-gloss gray and over about 3 years the tire shine turned it so it was gray in areas where there wasnt over spray and like dirty dark gray where over spray built up...I opted to do the 2nd go round just prior to having my tires swapped out so I didnt have to worry about masking off the rubber but I think if you put tire shine on them the overspray will wipe off pretty easily... the 2nd time I did them I went with a lighter "hammered" gray...i'll see if I cant dig up some pix... Ok here are my pix...What I did was took a wire brush and some dawn and cleaned them up really good and then rattle canned them...I have a couple chips but nothing major...mostly the chips were from impact loads from the tire iron being dropped or whatever...The first time I did mine they looked worse than yours...I had to do a good bit of sanding to knock the rust off but it wasn't too much hassle...

I've got some CC parts for a 3.0 L I think...if your interested, I'm not sure what it takes to send it your way but I can dig through my boxes and see what parts I have...I will also send you another email with the 94 FSM so you have all of the wiring schematics and you can go through and find the difference between teh ASCD and one without

y not just buy the plate and complementary "radius" bkt since that matters

are you stopped when going to 4L? my 87 has never liked shifting on the fly unless it was from 2H to 4H...but Ialways stop anyways b/c I think its better for it and plus I have to lock the hubs now too unless I did it B4 getting to the trail so that was how I fixed it for me... just try it idling at a stop with the truck in N and you shouldnt get any grinding

it'll work until it gets back to that spot...unless maybe you just accidentally jiggled the 2 wires and it fixed it for now...but usually then you have to start banging on them they go out the window at the most inopportune time...maybe put the tools and a spare starter in the back of the truck in case you have to change it in a parking lot

hope that helps... did you check for codes...you may have a bad Crank angle sensor (i've got one of those too I can sell...well the whole dizzy)

Could someone host a .pdf...I just took an excerpt from the 94/95 (they're the same) FSM of how to trouble shoot the system if anyone is interested...I finally lost my UNCC account and haven't gotten another place setup yet to host files

you'd have to get all the parts...and then figure out how to wire it up...I doubt you have it prewired...I would think without looking at it that it could be rigged up fairly easily...a relay to a solenoid for the vaccum and then a cancel switch on the brakes but with that "rigged system" I dont think the resume and coast wold work you could also get an adjustable curtain rod and use that jk dont do that... I'll see what I can dig up...you got an email address I can send a PDF to? I think I can get my hands on the 94 wiring schematic and all the information for the CC section...
