94 Pathy

Ok, here's the problem.......I was bidding on some coils springs....jeep zj grand cherokee rear coil springs 4wd v8 1996 I got them for $20.00 plus shipping. Do I keep them for the future of a SAS, or use them? I guess I can sell them also, or swap with somebody the has a XJ & wanting ZJ coils to lift their XJ? I was really hoping I could use them...CHeap cheap cheap! I think I might be able to swap with XJ coils. Same guy has XJ coils for the same price. Just curious, how much lift will these coils give me?

I'll have to do some looking. Just wanting to keep things cheap & lift it 3"-4". I might just have to buy another lift kit or just awap out the Calmini from my other. Was hoping to get some cheap UCA's & rear coils & crank the torsion bars & be done. Will keep everyone posted on what I do. Thanks for all your input!

That's wierd. I just had my '98 XJ totalled & it didn't sit up as high as most Grande Cherokees.....Why do u say those would be better? I still don't get how Cherokees have to have such a larger lift to fit 31's on, which come stock on Pathys... How much of a difference is there between the XJ's & the Grande?

Hey all, I'm thinking about leaving my Calmini lift on my other Pathy & this newer one, custom build it. For the rear coils, does it matter if the coils from a JEEP Grande Cherokee are from the front or rear? I might be getting some rears for $20-$30 for the pair. Thanks for the info!

Thanks everyone! Yeah the boys & I are alright. Was a block away from dropping them off @ school. The old SOB didn't have insurance. I just wanted to beat him! I'll be picking up the Pathy up in a few hours. Will be taking & posting pics ofthe new buy as soon as I can. Busy getting insurance issues taken care of, getting the title switched over, & oh yeah, studying for my RX test & have a study session to get to. Will try & get some pics soon. Later All!

Just wanting to let a few people/members know, I'm back after having my 94 Pathy stored due to rusting frame. I Picked up a JEEP XJ a few years ago and last friday had it slammed into & totalled out. Went out looking for another vehicle & guess what I found? Yep, a 94 Pathy. Same as what I have sitting in storage, but the Pathy is an Arizona Pathy, so not a speck of rust! The frame is completely solid & has been sprayed with undercoating for preventing rust. I'll take some pics once I get it home & cleaned up. I really couldn't pass up the deal for $2200.00 150,000 miles I believe. Everything is sound & in working condition. Glad to be back everyone! Chat with ya soon. Travis 94 Pathy

Ok, I've been trying to do a little research, but not having too much luck. I'm thinking about looking into a 94 Pathy, but the top half of the engine is in the process of having a Super Charger from an Exterra put on. The guy can't finish it, it's had a performance shop do some of the blueprinting and work, but still needs to be completed. Not too sure on what all still needs to be done since I haven't seen it or talked to the owner yet. Just trying to get an idea on what I'm looking at... Any concerns, experiences, ideas, knowledge, thoughts would be appreciated! Thanks everyone!

Thanks for all the info. RedPath found a cheaper price for the pivoting brackets, which is what I'm needing. Not too sure if I'm even gunna worry about it if I'm not gunna have the truck for very long.

Ok all you fellow gear gurus! I have a '91 Ford Ranger I'm getting fixed up. Only paid $150 for it and trying to get it up and running to turn a profit so I can get my Pathy going again. I'm putting F150 coils in the front for a 2" lift and add-a-leafs in the rear. I've been recommended on getting alignment brackets to correct the front. The only one's I can find are through JCWhitney for $218.00. Curious to know if anyone out there knows of some I can get out of a salvage yard? Like ones from a F150 or something? I'm really not wanting to put to much money into the truck since I need to put more into the Pathy. Thanks again as always for all your help and knowledge!

Ok everyone.....I'm in the process of researching, but just wanted to throw this out and see if I can get some answers quicker then all the research... I'm looking into a '94 2WD Pathy. If I swap my components from my frame decaying '94 4WD Pathy to this, what & how difficult is the conversion? I'm thinking that your just adding the transfer case? Like I mentioned before, I'm just starting the research on the transferring 2WD to 4WD. Thanks in advance for all your help & input!

OK all.... After taking a long time looking over my rusted frame, my baby will need to be trailered home. I just noticed that where the rear spring mounts to the frame is cracked and rusted through on the passengers side. Not gunna take the chance driving it and having the rear drop out from underneath me while driving down the road. I'm looking into a few other Pathy's. Either for a body swap, or just taking my components off my Pathy and transferring them over to one of the others. Once that is done, I'll be parting out my Pathy and saving some parts for extras to have while on the trails. Until then, I'll be trying to hunt these owners down and taking a look at the Pathys. Will keep ya posted!

That's Funny Sheot! I can laugh about it cause it happened to me many times! I've been locked in and locked out. Thank goodness when I was locked out, it was in the Summer and I had the sun roof out of the Pathy. I bet it was funny watching a grown man crawling up onto his 4X4 and dropping down the sun roof to get into the vehicle. Electrical units on these vehicles are iffy! The only thing I could suggest is to clean the connections really good. Good luck!

I'll try to find some pics.....I painted all my interior trim and exterior trim, including mirrors, center caps, tire carrier, etc. with that rustolium Hammered looking paint. Looks pretty tight.

I know I have 31X11.5X15's on my Legos. It all depends on what size of rim you have....Some of the steel rims are smaller, so 31X10.5's might be pushing it. Just call and ask a tire shop. I called and talked to someone @ 4Wheel Parts.

So, if the rear is banging/knocking when I hit bumps, could it be a bad shock? When I put my CALMINI 3" lift on years ago, I really enjoyed the CALMINI shocks. Snapped one and the shop replaced all the shocks with Rancho 5000's all around. I don't like them! I think one is bad now and there is a banging. I'll be taking a look this next week. Any suggestions? Wasn't too sure about the bump stops or not? Thanks all!

Alright, Spring Break is here & I have it off with my boys. Time to take inventory on what I need for the Pathy & taking some pics for a buddy of mine that's gunna help me get the frame welded up. I can't wait to get my baby out and about again! I'll get some pics taken during the welding and after and post for all to see! Enjoy all!

I've always ran my 31's @ 32psi. When I got the tires mounted originally, the shop had the pressure @ 26psi. Yes, too squishy! That's usually what I ran the tires @ while off-roading. Didn't want to go too much lower without having beadlocks. By the time you're on the road for awhile, you check the psi & I bet you'd be up around 35-37psi due to the heat.

Sorry, I'm not selling any of the parts I have until I know for sure on the whole law BS. I've known many guys pulling bodies and frames from yards for vehicles/hot rods. I'm thinking the guy was a POS and a lazy MF that didn't want to mess with it. F 'em! Will keep everyone posted. I did go out and drive the XJ....Best darn condition I've seen in a loooooong time. Older gentleman owns it. Every service slip and looks like it rolled off the lot. He's the original owner also. $3000! Can't go wrong with that. Hopefully have it in a few weeks. Will post a few pic's for you supporters. I KNOW, I KNOW, it's a JEEP! Will take my Pathy over it anyday! Even with the rusted out frame! Trust me! I'm a Pathy lover at heart and always will be. Can't afford to pass up the deal. After I get my Pathy done, I'll be selling or trading the JEEP in for something else. Thinking about a newer Pathy or an Xterra. TITAN if gas prices ever drop!

Pathy hands down! The JEEP will just be an everyday driver for now. Might try trading it in for an Exterra or a newer Pathy. Still gunna mod the '94. I'll watch it rote away before I give it away.

I'm very depressed! The frame is swiss cheese. Beginning to crack. Looking into a JEEP Cherokee for mean time. Planning on keeping the Pathy. Hoping someday to find a solid frame for it. I found one, but the salvage yard won't sell it too me. They say, "The vehicle/chassis can't be registered or on the street after being in the yard." WTF kind of BullSh!t is that? I'm tempted to talk to someone and see if they would sell the whole darn Pathy too me. Maybe I can get it that way. If not, my baby will be sitting for awhile. Sucks after putting the lift, tires, new tranny, radiator, manual hubs, cargo rack, etc in it. Still have my headers, dual exhaust, tranny cooler, and BL to put on. The only thing I'm looking forward to is.......once I get the frame, I'll be rebuilding the engine, doing a SAS, lockers, BL, etc. over time. Sucks not having a garage to store it in and begin the work. I need lots of land and a HUGE Morton Building. Later all! Just had to vent!

In need of new tires. Was thinking about just getting the 33's so I'm done with the tires. But the way things are going, I'm gunna have to buy 31X11.5X15's through 4WheelParts. Best deal I can find. Really didn't want to spend the money for the 31's and then go out and spend more for the 33's. Guess I'll just run the 31's until they die!

Quick question for all you tire guru's! Getting ready to purchase tire for my 94 Pathy. Wanting to purchase 33's, but I only have my 3" SL and planning on the 3"BL in the Spring/Summer. If I'm not doing any off-roading, can I squeeze the 33's on without any trouble? Thanks for all your input!

You all have NO IDEA on how happy I am finding this darn site again! :tonguefinger: It was on my favorites, but for some odd reason, I wasn't able to get onto the site. I tried everything imaginable. I just happen to be F'ing around and stumbled across it again. I hope to spend a lot of time catching up. Getting ready to do a body off frame restoration this next Spring/Summer with my Pathy since the rear frame is shot! Will be taking pic's and keeping everyone posted on the progress. Later ALL!

Yeah, I'm not gettithe whole vlave cover issue either. I didn't take mine off. I hope all went well for those of you who had to replace your knock sensors. So far, my Pathy has been running good.
