  1. For some reason I thought everyone knew what I was up to. I didn't really make a build thread since it would be full of people saying "No, that won't work. It's a unibody!" It's running very good right now but the oil pan is still leaking a lot of oil. I welded a good section of it and the flange warped. Long story short: I put a VH45 (now a 4.6 liter and 10.6:1 compression) and full hydro in and R50.
  2. From what I've heard, there's no way you'd get a swap like that to be CARB legal. If you're looking into this for the gas mileage aspects, you'd be much better off saving your money for more gas. I'm not one to be opposed to engine swaps, but I am speaking from my personal experiences. When I decided to do the VH45 swap on mine, I thought....hell this engine is ONLY $500! More than $11k later it's drivable and almost done.
  3. I didn't mean to say I wasn't happy with my IPFs as they always worked very well for their intended purpose. I never expected some 55 watt fogs to be blinding but they did give some extra lighting. The only issue I've had is the lights are filled with water. Fortunately wiring up the winch is probably the simplest thing you will ever do.
  4. PDCCD...I'm sorry that I backed out of selling my ARB to you. I hope this one works out great for you. I don't think that the IPF lights this same wiring loom that I've got but I would think they will come with some sort of wiring kit. Here's the one that I used to install my IPFs. It's a very nice loom from ARB. I know you're trying to avoid doing a bunch of wiring. I can't remember how many watts the stock foglights are. Are the new ones your ordered 55 watts?
  5. Yep, mines got 4.6s and it's a 2000. Don't think the VQ Pathfinders ever got 4.6s so you'd be stuck looking at 99.5s and 2000s.
  6. To rule out the relay just switch it with another.
  7. Sounds kind of odd, but they should know what they're doing if it's a dedicated shop that does this kind of install every day. When I pulled one out of Pathfinder in the junkyard a couple of the nuts were seized onto the studs but it just backed the studs out of the housing. I don't really see how the studs would get stripped. If anything it seems like they'd break off. It took me about an hour to get it out of the rear housing but this was in a gravel lot with some basic tools and some sketchy situations. Did they give you a hard time about the install or just commented that it was difficult?
  8. http://www.courtesyparts.com/betasite/5432...4-p-203546.html http://www.courtesyparts.com/betasite/5432..._4800_4802& You'll find that the OEM Nissan parts really are of better quality than the KYBs. I linked parts above but double check before you order them.
  9. Nissan knock sensors are NOTORIOUS for going out. Most people don't bother replacing them since it apparently doesn't affect engine performance on the VGs.
  10. Wow, this should be cool. Is the R50 yours? If it is, why'd you decide to SAS an R50 instead of a WD21? How are you going to gear a front 60 to 5.89s? Are you not using a Ford HP axle?
  11. Please don't take what I said the wrong way. I wasn't meaning to call you out or say that you're wrong. I really do believe it was a mistake by the junkyard. I'll see if I can find a picture of an Xterra R200 and I know Dean has some pictures of an R50 R200.
  12. You guys are pretty harsh. At least he's trying something new.
  13. If in fact RWC5S2 managed to fit an Xterra R200 under his Pathfinder then 4.90s would be a direct bolt in. I still have my doubts though since the two are substantially different.
  14. Could you PLEASE get some pictures? I remember you saying your front diff was out of an Xterra and if it did indeed work it would prove a lot of people (myself included) wrong. I really think the yard mixed them up and they came off a Pathfinder, but I'm willing to admit I may be wrong.
  15. Were the drawings you have made with real dimensions?
  16. I've got the IPFs in mine. I used to think they were the greatest, but now they're both half full of water. I don't even have them wired up anymore. Really just there to fill the space.
  17. Yep, the Xterras are 33 spline. All of the "newer" generation Nissan 4x4s use the 33-spline axles. Of course you could convert to 31 spline but it's really a step in the wrong direction. The 4.6 gear ratios are 4.625s, the axles are weaker, the axles are a couple inches narrower (with one minor exception). So it's just easier to stay with the 33 spline setup. Hopefully if you find a Pathfinder with the 4.6 front gears the rear 3rd will still be there. Good to hear you're going with the ARB too.
  18. You can get a 4.6 R200 from a 96-2000 Pathfinder. The 4.6 rear 3rd can be taken from any 00-04 Xterra, same gen Frontier, or 96-2000 Pathfinder.
  19. I could have used a snorkel...or a cover for my ricer intake.
  20. Pulling the rear axle shafts are much easier than you're making it out to be. Once the wheel is removed, just undo the 4 bolts per side and the axle should slide out easily. Just pull it out a couple inches on each side and you don't even have to disconnect the parking break. No slide hammer is needed, and to reassemble the shafts just slide back in and the 4 bolts need to be tightened back up, preferably to factory torque specs.
  21. Not that I know of anyone that has tried to bolt an Xterra front diff into a Pathfinder...but who knows..it might bolt up? Any chance you could get a picture of it? If the Xterra front diff bolted in, the R50 guys could regear too.

  23. Hopefully it isn't one of the features where it blanks out everything so you can't mess with the navigation while you're going more than a few miles an hour. In that case, I'd bypass it!
  24. Trying to adjust the TPS doesn't sound like a bad idea, but if that doesn't work there are several other things you can do. Report back if that doesn't help.
