I second the BFG AT KO. I just got them put on a week ago and are much better than my Coopers.

JJ Big Shoe, Thanks for the advice - no offense taken at all. I have done a fair amount of work on vehicles myself, but I'm by no means a mechanic. I haven't done much engine work since I'm worried I'll screw something up. I think it would probably be a good idea to have someone help, and hopefully this will help. I didn't get that horrible noise this morning, so I'll have to see if it happens tomorrow. If not it may have just gone away. I really do appreciate all the help. Anyone else know whether the shock sensor can be adjust by me, or whether I need to take it to the dealer? Tyler

Not sure if it's correct, but every remote turn on wire I've ever seen is royal blue.

88, Thanks for the quick reply. Is the shock sensor something I myself can adjust, or need to take it to a dealer or mechanic? I had the timing belt replaced about 2,000 miles ago and don't think they replaced any of the other belts. Will this be another $500 in labor like the timing belt, or does the entire front end not need to come off with these? Thanks a bunch. Tyler

First of all, I think something must be wrong with the alarm on my 2000 Pathfinder. It has gone off in front of my house the last two times I was mowing the lawn, and then again this morning as the neighbor across the street was. Also happened at work a few weeks ago in the middle of the parking lot. I'm thinking it might be a noise sensor (If we have them on our cars? ) considering its all happened in a "noisy" environment. If I can't fix it, whats the best way to disable the alarm all together? The next problem that just arose is another sound the engine makes when being started for the first time that day. As soon as the engine is started, it makes a LOUD shreaking noise for 1-3 seconds, then goes away and everythings perfectly fine. I know I've heard it before in parking lots, and heard it was something to due with the power steering? ANY help is greatly appreciated, I know theres a lot of knowledge on this board. Tyler

Awesome job, it looks AWESOME! I'm glad to see someone else with 32's since I'm looking at getting the same thing sometime in the future. If you have any more pictures I'd love to see them. By the way, what did the rims and tires run you? Are you using a camber correction kit? Thanks! Tyler
-
Any pictures? I'd like to put 32's on mine after getting the AC lift and think i'd end up using stock rims and 32x10.5's.

New to Pathfinder- Headlight question
tmorgan4 replied to OR99.5Speed's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
OR99.5speed, I just happen to have my fog lights off at the moment so if you need any pictures on how to do it I can send some. The back of the light has a "twist" release if you haven't gotten that far, and once that piece is off the bulb is exposed and can be removed. Tyler -
Just realized that its for an older body style.....

I can't answer the first question since I'm wondering the same thing, BUT from what I've heard 31's fit a stock Pathfinder w/ some rubbing (although they require the mudflaps and other parts to be trimmed) and I know 32's fit on the Pathfinder with the 2" lift.

I saw a bunch of Xterra guys who've done the same thing. but can you tell me what exactly it helps with? It definitely looks amazing, and ive heard you should upgrade both when getting large tires. Does it improve the steering at all? How much is the centerbrace? You should consider fabricating a bunch of idler arms and sell them since I've never seen them anywhere else Tyler

I noticed this too a few days ago while cruisig on the highway in my 3.3L 5-speed. Crusing about about 80 my RPM's were in the 4000+ range, which probably isn't great on the engine but I only get on the interstate for a few miles to get where I'm going. This brings up another question I was wondering about.....I too like to save gas when I'm cruising around town, and usually keep it in 5th when doing anything higher than 40mph. The RPM's hover around 2k.....is this too low? I know if the RPM's aren't high enough it wont burn hot enough and can blow out your spark plugs, right? Whats the lowest RPM you can cruise at while playing it safe? Thanks! Tyler

Questions about adding an upgraded bumper
tmorgan4 replied to tmorgan4's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
DJ Dank, I should have phrased that better It ended up completely smashing the TJM bumper, broke some lights and not sure what else. When I said there didn't appear to be any damage, I meant to refer to the frame. I'm just trying to avoid bending or cracking my frame if I ever get in a small fender bender..... Tyler -
Questions about adding an upgraded bumper
tmorgan4 replied to tmorgan4's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Thanks for all the replies. If anyone sees one for sale and your not planning on buying it PLEASE let me know as I'm in search for one. Does anyone have any information regarding the frame being damaged in an accident by adding a solid, steel bumper? I just looked on TJM's site at a guy who hit a deer doing 75 and didn't say it did any damage, but hitting something more solid could do some damage. Thanks, Tyler -
I just got back from a collision repair shop, and they told me getting a tough metal bumper that bolts directly to the frame is a horrible idea. They said that in a crash as slow as 5mph you can tweak or crack the frame since the bumper doesnt give whatsoever. I was originally going to order a shrockworks Xterra bumper and make it fit, but after seeing Pezzy's T15 I may go that route. I know on the Xterra you can crank the torsion bars if the front end sags, but can you do this on our cars? I have no idea whether or not the pathfinders have torsion bars I have just over 106k on my 2000 and I'm hoping the front end wont sag too much with 150 pounds added to it. Also, why can't I find a TJM T15 bumper in black? It seems like all there is available is chrome? Thanks a bunch for any help. Tyler

They said it couldn't be done... TJM Bumper
tmorgan4 replied to Pezzy's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Pezzy, I'm glad that someone else decided to try, and it ended up working. If it fits your 99.5, then it should fit my 2000, correct? I think this route may be easier than the shrockworks, and cheaper as well. Was everything else totally bolt on, or did anything need to be modified? I'd enjoy some pictures from other angles, and even where it bolts on if you have a chance. So you got the bumper used I take it, and if you don't mind, how much did you pick it up for? Thanks a bunch! Tyler -
Pezzy, Im also interested in doing basically the same package that you put on yours, but im worried about the CV's and ball joints wearing out prematurely like everyone says is a problem in the pathfinders. When you installed the lift do the CV's appear to be at too much of an angle and straining? I know a lot of the guys in Australia were getting about 1" lifts saying thats the maximum you should go without causing damage, only an inch wouldnt be worth it. I'd love to hear your opinion on the whole kit, even though you've only had it for a month. How much did your gas mileage go down with the roof rack and lift + bigger tires. Those tires even out to be about a 33" right? Thanks a bunch. Tyler
-
I agree, if it all turns out well I'd love to see some for the newer pathfinders. Please post or email any pics to show whats done so far if you have any. Tyler

I'm very interested in any skidplate I can get my hands on (If I ever get around to mounting the shrockworks bumper, of course). The only downside that I can see to this new material is the price. A 24"x36" sheet was about $240, not including any machine work. I can't wait to see some pictures
-
Thanks for all the replies. I was feeling pretty good about ordering the Shrockworks bumper today after holding up my Pathfinder bumper to my friends Xterra, and finding out their basically the same size. I was planning on having a shop rig some mounts up, but I didn't think it would be anything even close to $500 CND. I may want to go talk to a couple machine shops before I spend $700 on a bumper that's going to cost another $400 at least to mount. I'll let you know what I find out if it won't be to difficult to setup. Tyler

Pezzy, Thanks a ton for all the information. I was also looking at the shrockworks sliders, and on their site it says they'll fit, but they must be welded on. I don't think this would be a huge deal unless they began to rust and must be cut off. I'll be waiting to see if the TJM bumper fits, and if it does I may just have to get one of those instead. I need to get a new bumper as soon as possible now that I crushed the stock one after rolling into a ditch and bending the front left control arm too

Hey Everyone, I'm new to this forum, mainly since I never knew this site even existed until a few minutes ago. My main question is, I just got in a slightly front-end accident, and it ruined the front bumper. I can get a factory one for about $675 (from a body shop) or probably cheaper at a junkyard. But, If im spending this much money, I might as well just buy a whole new upgraded bumper. I REALLY like the shrockworks bumpers for the Xterra, and I was thinking of ordering one and having a fabrication shop make some brackets to fit it onto my car. I'm not sure about size difference from a Pathfinder to xterra bumper....anyone know if it would fit the body very well? The other question is if a bumper made for the older body styles (early 90's) will fit our cars? Please let me know, I cant seem to find information anywhere! Thanks! Tyler Morgan
