I had a shop replace my speed sensor for the same reason, check engine light was on, had bought a new one from dealer, and had them install, but to no fix, it still doesn't work......Can I only assume that they did not install properly or broke the new one??? Or is there a remote possibility that something else is the cause...could there be a bad speedo cable??? Keep in mind that mine is a 96. I ask only because you say there is only 1 reason to buy a speed sensor.

Are those a stand alone unit, is wiring involved? How do they compare to the more expensive ones I've seen? I belive I saw one at 4x4parts.com?

Hi - Lift Jack Question
OfftourRoadie96 replied to OfftourRoadie96's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
Thanks for the info.....what do you guys think of lifting from one or both of the front tow hooks? Would that be a good idea? -
I was considering getting a Hi-Lift Jack but on our R-50's, where would your lift points be? Does the Hi-Lift reach where the bottle jack would be placed??? I know I've seen those "Lift-Mates" that attach to your tire, but don't really want to carry around jack stands in the back either!

I'm going to be in Australia / New Zealand in December....do they sell any SFD parts over there I could possibly look into? I also remember awhile back people talking about the "PRADO" sub frame drop....are those still around?

A little help would be greatly appreciated.

From inside the truck there is switch (usually there were 4) rear defog, suspension adj., seat heaters, etc.) The switch had two positions, Sport & Comfort! That's it! You could adjust your ride depending on your situation. I bought my PF new in 1996! I prefer the way it is now! -
White Out for me...at least on the higher end stuff! IMO

I was in your EXACT same situation..... I was quoted ALOT for replacing one electronic adjustable strut. With the money they were gonna charge me, I put towards an AC springs and new struts and shocks....luckily for me this was not my daily driver, and I put very low milage on this vehicle since I tour for a living (so I'm not home much)....slowly but surely I'm getting my truck to how I want it to be! -
I bought the front and rear springs from AC, I pieced out everything else individually as I could afford...but I replaced pretty much everything!

Max tire size VS Lift Kit Used VS Custom or OE Wheels
OfftourRoadie96 replied to fleurys's topic in R50 FAQ's & Pinned Topics
Year: 1996 SE 4x4 Lift : AC 2" coils w/ Warn Manual Hubs Wheels : ProComp Rockcrawlers 15 x 8 BS 3.75" Tires : BFG Mud Terrain T/A. 32x11.5x15 Notes: rubbing on full lock on inner plastic wheel well, door side. -
Also, can anyone post pics of their inner fender plastic trimming? I have 32's and getting a fair amount of rubbing. Should I just remove all the inner plastic or is trimming the best option?
-
Has anyone have rust problems in the radiator support area? I noticed alot of rust in this area and also around where the front tow hooks are! Just curious if installing a custom front bumper will be affected?
-
I had a question burried in my original post. Can anyone go into detail how to install the camber alignment bolts? My guy that helped install, did not want to install because there were no original notches in the bolt holes. Do you have to drill the holes bigger to install the alignment bolts? I currently did not instal, but just used the original bolts.

From craigslist. I paid $200. I then got a brand new one for $75.00 which I sold for $300 which paid for my shocks and struts . Got really lucky on that one. It's the Yakima loadwarrior with the extension btw.

Just the lowers....I had the death wobble really bad! I read on the forum here that replacing the lowers would fix it.

http://i660.photobucket.com/albums/uu324/O...er/96lift32.jpg Finally got my lift installed.....AC Lift with 32" BFG Mud Tires ( 2 New and 2 Used)..... 2 new lower link arms too, NO MORE DEATH WOBBLE! I'm very pleased with the results! Had some questions with the camber alignment bolts.....I bought them, but not sure how to install, so I skipped......How do you install the damn things anyway.....do you drill the holes? Also, my NX4 1" spacers took a little longer to arrive than I expected so those did not make it on either....Bummer. Warn Manual Hubs are newly installed as well. Slight rubbing ofcourse up front, will be trimming some plastic soon. Custom Front and Rear Bumpers are next on my list of things to get, Skid Plate and Sliders Too! Thanks to all who have answered ALL my questions in the forum, without you guys, I could not have gotten this done! THANKS! Jose Baraquio

OfftourRoadie96 replied to OfftourRoadie96's topic in 96-2004 R50 Pathfinders
I TRUST YOU!!!!!!! I glad you're here! Thanks! and thanks to all in the forum! Lift going on today.....hope all goes well! -
I'm in the process of installing the rear shocks on my 96....I using the Rancho RS999010 for a Dodge Durango.....None of the inner metal sleeves (that slide into the bushings) that came with the shocks fit over the metal stud that the shock is suppose to attach to. What happens if you don't use the sleeve?

I have a 96....are you saying an Alternator from a 96-99 Nissan Quest will work better?? I plan to add off-road lighting to my rig and also plan to add power to a pull along camper to run electricity through the trailer wiring harness to possibly charge a Optima Marine Battery.

slightly off topic but.......since they don't make TJM anymore and/or ARBs for 96-98??.....can an ARB for 99-up be modified in the same manner to fit 96-98's ? -
I know I've stated in this forum that I'm gonna go with "Black Steel Wheels" for my truck.....I still haven't quite decided which ones thou. I've priced the Cragar, ProComp, & American Racing Are ALL Black Steelies Created Equal? I decided on the Round Circle Style 15 x 8.....Backspacing is a little different throghout....Some Have 3.75" and some have 4". Cragars seem to be the lowest in price @ $39.00 Then the Pro-comp @$65 and AR @ around $80-$90. I plan to put 32's on would the 3.75" BS help or hurt me in the rubbing department? Or would the 4" B.S. Be Better?
