  1. Are those rusty break lines behind that rubber hose? That would have me concerned too. In the mean time, I hope nobody stops by your rig in some parking lot and lights up a smoke!
  2. Well keep us posted if you do it. After I water cooled my computer I'm kinda obsessed with cooling EVERYTHING that produces and kind of heat.
  3. Is it break fluid? How's you slave cylinder look?
  4. Phase one: Steal underpants Phase two: ???? Phase three: Profit Hey chrisgerman1983, are you looking for a stock replacement or off road replacement? Oops, re-read, you want aftermarket.
  5. Nice, did they do the timing belt tensioner? My old one is sitting in the garage and I picked it up the other day, the bearings are seized up. I know it spun when I took it out. Seems it locked up just sitting there! What about the little macaroni noodle coolant hose deep in there?
  6. Interesting, but what's the pressure on the low pressure side of the p/s system? Is it low enough for the trany cooler to handle? Is the tranny cooler designed to handle any significant pressure? Or dose tranny fluid just sort of cycle through? The hoses for my AT fluid cooler don't look like they can withstand any pressure at all, (just soft rubber) which leads me to believe the cooler can't withstand much pressure either.
  7. Did you replace the water pump too? I replaced mine when I did my TB and it made a funny whine even when spinning it by hand. It has gotten louder now (15,000 miles later) and I think I got a crummy one. Also mine made a disturbing whine which was because the TB was a little too tight. Sounds like you're gonna get real good at tearing the front of the motor off.
  8. It would not hurt to do so I don't think, if your wheeling spots get dusty like mine, I would be concerned about dust getting in that way. But on the other hand, if you silicone it, every time you need it off you will have to rip the MAF off, then scrape off the old sealant before installing with new silicone.
  9. DIY: Depends on what all you do, I did the belt, tensioner, water pump, all coolant hoses less the heater hoses, and coolant for $250 perhaps $300 IIRC. SHOP: Seems the going rate around my area was about $750-$800 bucks.
  10. How many miles on it? I was sweating it last year because I was at 127,000 on the factory t-belt, then my water pump started to leak real bad and I got off my butt and did it. Looking back, the t-belt was in good shape for the miles on it, no fraying cracks or anything, but it was stretched a little loose. I sure felt better after the new t-belt and water pump went in though.
  11. Cool, one question though. Why did you do that? Is that bumper not for your vehicle?
  12. Ah yes, you are right, derp! Late night math, even simple math is not to be trusted from me.
  13. DENVARRR! Not to far from me. My 98 with the VG33E got about 21MPG highway 18MPG city before my 31 inch tires. Now I get about 16MPG city and I don't know about highway because I don't drive I-25 much anymore. Enclosed is a pic to help you choose.
  14. So it seems that those BART wheels will be closer in, (like towards the engine bay) than the wheels you have now by about a quarter inch.
  15. Welcome! I don't know if the stock wheels for your 97 are the same as the stock wheels for my 98, but my stockers had 5.75 inches of backspace. I now run some pro comp steel wheels with 3.75 inches of backspace. 31/1050/15 Goodyears and my spring perch has plenty of room.
  16. I need to find me an A-gunner, anyone who comes with me right now is in another vehicle.
  17. Haha, we'll see about pics, it's hard to stop and take pics when you are having that much fun. That's why I have almost none.
  18. Good to hear I'm not the only one who did that.
  19. Yep, happened to me too. After I installed my new head unit, tail lamp fuse blew. But mine would NOT stop popping them. Put in new fuse, turn key, nothing, check fuse, toast. Turns out that I had the Acc. power wire hangin out behind the dash, because the new head unit was always illuminated and did not use this wire to light it up when you turn on the lights. It had gotten up against the frame and was shorting that circuit (dash lights, tail lights and front marker lights) to ground. It was a foolish oversight on my part to leave that wire flopping around back there. Had to go back in and account for that wire.
  20. My water pump started to leak pretty bad at about 127,000 miles. As far as a timing kit, what else is there to replace than the belt and tension pulley? I just replaced the belt and tension pulley and water pump. Cam sprockets? Crank sprocket? Cam seals? Do the kits come with those?
  21. Ah, well I just took a look under my hood and now I think removing the rad and shroud will make it a lot easier. I still think it can be done without doing so, but the times I have done it the rad was out. If you have never taken the rad out, just know the upper shroud (which is the majority of the shroud anyway) comes out attached to the rad. I have tried getting the rad in and then the shroud after. I fought it for a good 30 minutes until I tried with the rad and shroud together and it dropped right in. Have fun!
  22. Hello and welcome! I'm sort of new to the forum myself, but I have had these belts off a few times. Just to be sure, this is for a 3.3L VG33? Your thing says you have a 99 or something. Different vehicle? Anyway, you should not have to remove the rad shroud or fan, you can if you want to though as it would make things easier by just a tad. The only belt that needs to be looped around the fan is the belt that turns the fan/water pump and alty IIRC. It's plenty long enough to get over the fan. The third belt you speak of I presume is the power steering belt, it's a "V" belt and the way it is tensioned is different than the other two. The whole p/s pump can be adjusted back and forth to tension or loosen the belt. It functions in a similar way as the tension pulleys for the other two belts, but it's the p/s pump that moves, not an idler pulley. The p/s pump adjustment has to be accessed from underneath. I hope this helps, and if you have any more questions just post em' up. Oh wait, the MY 99's have the VG33 right? After that went the VQ35?
  23. Sure, how about 4 and one of those free hugs? JK JK I already picked some up, but thanks again.
