  1. What is the "right tool" to use for this dude? haha I don't wanna spend 8 hours taking it apart and trying to get the thing back together and find out it was a half hour job with a $20 tool from Princess Auto hahaha (stupid Mazda Brakes)
  2. There is literally no difference with the springs.. the ONLY difference is the top of the strut tube (threaded portion) is longer to fit the longer mounting point on the strut mount of the 99.5-04. For some reason the later models (like Dudu's) have a long collar on the strut mount
  3. Hey Sonyslave! lemme know if that works... I had a fresh set of eyes look at it and they seem to think its the tie rod end as well. I'm going to grab some next week before I take it in for the alignment. Hopefully all is tight after that!
  4. I'll come up another time though! If Dave doesn't make it on the 22nd, I'll talk him and Sandor into doing a weekend. AS for the gearing, I'm looking around the scrap yards here for 4.6's... If I can find a 4.9 frontier rear end (and front), is that a viable option or no?
  5. I have no idea? Like I said in a previous post... Everything I know about gearing is from either fleurys or tmorgan. And believe me, I didn't get a weekend seminar on the topic. (so, I don't know too much as of yet) I guess what I'm trying to say is, fleurys... you gonna have a weekend seminar on gearing? Host it at your place in lovely Quebec? :-D
  6. tmorgan said the 4.6's work fine with the 35's... He's the man to ask
  7. I'm actually getting the second of the two BFG KM's... So I'll let you know what you need to cut to fit them in. Its just a matter of gearing once you get them to stop rubbing. Thats next on my list! Yeah the Wire idea worked well, the problem was, that was a loose fitment. So I had to weld a piece of bar inside to tighten it up on the bushing. But the shape was bang on!
  8. 4" SFD, 2" AC coils (front) and those are Mickey Thompson's best attempt at a 31 (29.5" actual). I'm going to 35's as soon as I can! Good on ya getting the kit from him! He's the one I took all the info from, so he knows what he's doing.. and if he doesn't, he fakes it really well.
  9. No I haven't really tried much to fix it... had a look inside the little panels to see if I pulled a connector off, but no dice. They're on there pretty well. I'm pretty sure I broke the coil wire. If thats the case, I'll just leave it for now. The flashing red light can(and has) been covered quite easily :-D
  10. Oh ok awesome! I'll give that a try tonight! Any other things I should know? Like tie the steering wheel when Ichange the steering link ;-D
  11. Thanks for all the help guys! Anyone know how to get the wheel off?
  12. Ok, well I'm pretty sure I've ruined some connections in the steering wheel while installing the steering extension. Because it seems my horn, cruise control controls, and the airbag are all unhooked hahaa Dammit.. anyone know how to take the wheel (or airbag)off?
  13. Well, non of those tips helped... I tried those steps about 5 times and nothing shut off the light and the airbag hasn't taken my head off yet so I'm not too worried. Anyone else have any idear's before I give it the tape solution? hahaha
  14. Yeah I had to grind and hammer the thing into submission. I'll take some pics of the rack. Its really easy to do. Just remove the stock carriers or brackets, rotate it to where you want it, Use a piece of stiff (but flexible) wire to get the inside shape of the angles you want, then cut the original bracket, weld a piece and grind...
  15. So here it is in most of its glory(minus the bigger tires)! It doesn't look as big anymore to me. The front end is a bit low. I have to put the new struts in with the insulators/bushings on top. I just threw the old ones in to get it out of the garage. The steering. I had to use the Ujoint method to get it linked up. I just bought a 3/4" Ujoint and welded it up to the factory one. Panhard Drop. 2x4" tube with 3/8" plate. dropped 4"
  16. Oh yeah! I probably spun the thing 50 times trying to get the Rubber puck to come off! hahha
  17. Anyone know what the flashing Airbag light means? I ran the code reader on it and nothing came up
  18. I'll put them in the Subframe Drop thread
  19. I effin hope not! I just finished mine this evening and haven't had a chance to try it out! Not much to really go wrong if you ask me... Chances of breaking/bending a block is pretty slim. Its just the steering you really have to worry about. I did 4" SFD with the AC 2" (or 3") lift in the front and coilsprings.com custom coils in the back. It LOOKS badassed, will most likely fit 35's but still hasn't been tested offroad, or on for that matter :-D
  20. YES! Thats EXACTLY what I have!!! I Flippin' Love you guys!!! Can't wait to try this bad boy out!!!
  21. What were the specs on those wheels and tires? Backspacing, widths, etc.
  22. Thanks for the confidence Andrew! I was feeling pretty down on the SFD hahaha
  23. F&@CK!!! I just want bigger tires!!! Why does this have to happen!? Thats it, I'm buying an Xterra! See you guys later :-D
