Alberta. I'll take you fishing, and hell, come up for our annual nissan and import jamboree.
-
I'm not even dignifying this with a response. There's a reason mine's listed $1500 cheaper than any other 4 door in the trader. Aaron, you're absolutely right. I just can't bear the thought of working on that truck one more time. I've spent a fortune keeping the thing alive, and it won't stop breaking (even though i had to stop wheeling). I'd rather work on something else, just not do alternator no. 6, etc.
-
why? i should keep putting all my time, money, and frustration into that pile of sh!t truck? The truck was fine till i starting wheeling the hell out of it. and i will never take a nissan down anything harder than an easy run ever again...this coming from the VP of the calgary nissan and import 4x4 club

Swapped the tranny fluid friday night, some stuff fell out. I just put an ad in the autotrader.
-
if i was you, i'd fix the pathfinder, try and get top dollar for it, and buy what you'd like. Keep in mind a SAS'ed S10 is one SH!tty daily driver compared to your pathfinder.

I have the mystery machine. So, my tranny’s been sounding like a bag of rocks for a while, t/o bearing screeching like a banshee, and overall the driving experience in the potato has left a lot to be desired. I go over to Visions NE after work yesterday to fix my parking light harness (don’t ask) and on the way home, get to the lights by the airport on Barlow. Pull away in first --- noisy as hell Quickly shift into second – oh your god its loud Shift into third and let go of the clutch ------ BAAAAAAANNNNGGGGGG!!!!!! CRASH!!!!!! THRASH!!!!! POP!!! And no forward momentum anymore Pull over, shut it down. JAM it into first and pull away, still loud nasty noises coming from the tranny, but its moving. About 5 mins later, a quiet pop and all the noise is gone. All of it. The truck has never been better. I think this crew is who needs to solve this one:

i hear that. I wish i owned any of the other options over the pissfinder. Though i suppose that's why mines getting traded in on a TJ after winter.

1990 2 door terranos with the vg30 are pretty easy to find in my neck of the woods if you really want one.
-
That's not a pathfinder. It's a terrano.
-
4.375 manual 4.625 automatic someone's likely to beak off about using the search function. I guess keep that in mind for next time.
-
Jay, I have one in calgary i'd be willing to let go. pm me if you're interested.
-
It's getting bad. Like really bad. Anyone swapped a tranny themselves? I think i'm up for the task once i locate one (and a new clutch)
-
Aaron, you took all the fun out of my rant....... i just felt like bringing up the love/hate i have with the potato.
-
ummm....i was being sarcastic. That retarded alternator spot is begging to be full of mud.
-
i almost forgot.....the lowest part of the engine is the alternator. pure genius.

I like how the thermostat is mounted upside down, and the front end has no flex. I also enjoy how the stock bumpers can be crushed like a tin can. Oh, and the marvelous engineer that decided the north american trucks spare tire carrier should open the same direction as the JDM ones. It's great when you're parked against the curb and loading/unloading things out of the back and you get to walk around it 100 times. How can we forget the steering wheel that looks like it belongs in the millenium falcon? Or the interference head design? The vertical bushing in the centerlink? the point where the body seams meet under the back seat and eventually leads to a hole? How the cast part of the exhaust under the drivers side floor that leads to a another hole? Non-standard pitch on the wheel studs? Ohhh, tiny bolts that hold the stock skid plate on! The way the starter has to come out in between the centerlink and frame to get it out quick? Brittle exhaust manifold studs? A whiz-bang coil/link setup that has no flex? The way the front bumper mounts inside the body instead of on frame horns, making winch mounting an exciting adventure? I love how any tire bigger than a 235 on the spare tire rack will eventually twist the studs out from smacking it on the ground coming off obstacles. Oh yeah, and how the spacious back seat is eclipsed by the narrower-than-all-hell door openings. I still love my truck, even though its been known to bug me

i had serious cooling issues after the rebuild. New coolant, new fan clutch, new thermostat, and new waterpump were done. But not the rad. New rad = cool truck

I've run my truck out of fuel at least three times and i've never been able to squeeze more than about 72L into mine. My fuel tank is 'clearanced' from alot of off roading, but even when i got the truck, 70L was the most it would take. My last fuel receipt (from dead empty to full) was 71.05 liters. I got 550 Km's on that tank. So, that's 342 miles driven 18.79 gallons of fuel purchased (1 liter = 0.264172051 gallons) 18.2 MPG and i was getting 12.4 MPG before the rebuild. At current gas prices, and the amount i drive, i'm saving something like $30 per week! -bounce-
-
Before the rebuild, i was getting 375 kms at the most. Now i'm back up to 550! on 31's and i drive on the highway everyday at around 130 kmh.

balljoints and cv boot. not a big deal to diy.
-
fan clutch? spin the fan by hand with the engine off. If it's got serious resistance, that's your problem.
-
Not even close buddy. MSRP for the lockright, for instance - $350 CND ($318 US) plus $20 duty (that's right, on a part you buy in Canada) plus $30 shipping (this is from a store remember) plus $28 GST (goods and services sales tax) = $428. To buy it yourself and pay duty, shipping, VAT, and brokerage from the US is about the same. We get f*cked living here when it comes to buying anything. What do you pay for gas right now?? We pay $1.04 per liter * 3.8 liters per gallon = $3.95 per gallon, yes that's in CND dollars, but last i checked, i get paid in CND not USD.
