  1. So the transmssion went this morning. I will look into swapping in a manual transmission while I'm at it because I absolutely hate driving an automatic. The only problem is that while I've heard everything is a straight swap, I haven't seen anybody do it yet. Or has somebody done it yet? I won't even get to this project until middle of January because right now I'm working on rebuilding a Pontiac Grand Am's little Twin-Cam engine and that's were my money's at right now. Then I have to turn it for a profit and every last penny from that is going into the Pathfinder and it's new transmission. So I figure I'll have enough money for the swap. Is the easiest thing to do just buy a junkyard Pathfinder w/ a manual transmission? I've heard the manual transmission was revised for '93... will an older transmission still work? Any other thoughts or recommendations would be awesome.
  2. Congratulations! Can't wait to see the pictures!
  3. Oh boy! Are we going to get an NPORA upgrade? -bounce-
  4. Yes it does. As well as a pre-cat which would be where the leak is at... right in front of the pre-cat.
  5. You have the Thorley headers? Those are supposed to turn blue after they heat up a couple of times.
  6. You can take the flaps off while leaving the flares on. Mine have the mudflaps too.
  7. But until you get one of those 3-ton jacks, it's hard to find one that goes high enough. I measured clearance a long time ago and I think it was 11 inches or something.
  8. Woah! You didn't grease your ball joints! I'm no mechanic but I'm thinking I've found your problem. A set of Energy Suspension bushings cost me just over $40. The dealor I ordered from said that they were on backorder and said they would take 3 weeks but he called me to say he had them 1 week later. I don't know? Weird.
  9. I might add that that noise also may indicate bad ball joints, or ball joints lacking grease. And I also might suggest Energy Suspension bushings if that is what the problem is. I put those on my control arms and I don't know how to describe it but it just seems like I'm more in control of the truck. And the red color looks killer.
  10. I would think the new Pathfinders are the most capable because of all the power. Sure the clearance isn't quite up to the WD21 standard and the approach and breakover angle are a little less (I think the departure angle might be better? Just a guess). But all that power has got to count for something... isn't it 270 horsepower? Just because 99% of the 2005 Pathfinder owners won't take it off-road doesn't mean it's not capable. That's where my vote is going.
  11. I forgot to mention that 2 studs were broken already and the rest broke on the way out. So they know how to do this stuff.
  12. I had mine installed in Mooresville by a performance shop. They charged me something like $240. No leaks as far as I can tell. Really nice guy to deal with. The place is called Performance Auto Care and their number is 704-660-1192. Mooresville isn't too far from you so I'd give them a call.
  13. Mod Squad Vs. Off-Road Rice Police. Clears are fine though.
  14. Yeah it stays mostly on road, and when it does go off-road its really tame. So I'm happy. It's been since August that I've had that setup so it's not exactly enough time to gauge the safety of that location yet. But my dad's Honda Accord came stock with his filter in the wheelwell so it's most likely a safe place for on-road driving.
  15. I guess I overpayed bigtime. I wish I had held off a little longer.
  16. Highly recommended. Don't mind the Fram, I currently use Napa Gold w/ Royal Purple.
  17. Just check my signature and I think you'll all agree that chrome looks way better. It's not even comparable.
  18. I am planning to get a high output alternator to accompany my new Optima yellow-top I am getting. Besides the Quest alternator, do I have any options of a high output alternator? I couldn't find anything.
  19. I think white looks good. Have you guys seen 'whitie's Pathfinder on AC? Holy @!*% that thing looks incredible!
  20. I've got a shopping cart dent, and there was a walking trail about 1/2 mile away. I guess we could call that trail damage. I've actually got plenty of scratches and a couple dings but wax will hide it very well... not as good as mud unfortunatly.
  21. You can't get to those bulbs. I've tried. The only one on the whole assembly that you can change is the A/C button that lights up green. This only pertains to a '94 or '95, but it shouldn't be much different for yours. Have you tried the dimmer switch?

    No start

Mine too. Almost time for a Quest alternator and Optima yellow-top. What year is your Pathfinder?
  23. Unless you have resized your image, I can guarantee it's too big. No camera takes a picture small enough to be an avatar, even crappy camera phones. Resize the image in a photo editer... the most common and basic is Microsoft Paint.
