  1. Well, so far I have no rear seat, nor carpet/padding in it for weight loss.
  2. Yes ATF in the T-case, just keep filling it untill it comes out the fill hole. Where is it leaking; the connection to the transmission, at the rear output, at the front output, where the linkage is, at the center seam of the case?
  3. Yeah the bulge difference is one reason I shied away from the glass ones myself, for the same reason you brought up, nothing available for the rear. I'm thinking about doing the fiberglass on the front of my 88 anyway, if for nothing else to further lighten it.
  4. I have a Thule clamp-on style rack similar to the Yakima, but the cross bars are rectangular. One nice thing about it is it can be removed quickly and easily if need be leaving no sign it was even there.
  5. Some clunking when the suspension moves....My 93 had a set that looked fine, till I pulled out of my driveway one day and the thing broke in half with a bang and my driver's side dropped 4".
  6. Both of mine have enough get up and go (granted the 93 with it's mods has more), my only complaint is the trottle responce. The seasons change between the time I step on the peddle and when the engine goes, "HOLLY CRAP I'M SUPPOSED TO REV UP!"
  7. Yep, 87s (unless a late build) had the 3 speed autos. 88-90 had the 4 speed non OD autos.
  8. Yes they can be a PITA, since you can't get an impact or even a socket on the nut easily, it's a lot of hand wrenching. On the good side, helps build some pectoral muscles....
  9. Yeah, check the drive train for any drag, what size tires are you running? Might want to drain an refill your diffs with fresh fluid too. On my last trip (400 round trip) I got 16mpg in my 88 (also the V6 auto) and it is overdue for a tune up, has 31MTs, and I was driving on some hilly windy country roads (lots of speed up, slow down stuff). My engine is also unadultered. I took a trip in early summer, strictly highway and at that point I was actually getting 20mpg. I know when I drive it as a DD carrying about 500lbs+ of tools I got about 16mpg also.
  10. Yeah, they can carbon up a good bit. I think it was 88 one time posted a pic of either his, or one he was working on that was clogged almost solid.
  11. I run Valvoline Max Life in all of my "fleet". My newest vehicle is 14 years old.
  12. One of mine was built before I was in high school, the other was built after I graduated high school.
  13. Pull the lever up, then crawl under the truck and see which cable has play in it. If you snapped one side or the other it should feel really loose.
  14. Supposed to increase performance with it removed, it restricts the air flow and fuel mixture ability (at least that is what Lee, from the former L&P, told me once). I think it is purely for emissions purposes when cold, not for helping start up when cold.
  15. Did you just glance at them, or give them a once over? Take the wire from the coil to the distributor off at the distributor side and let it arc to a ground while someone turns the starter, arc should be blue, if it is white/yellow/orange your coil is bad.
  16. As for the heater, it can be done away with entirely.
  17. Just hope they are full of fuel, not vapors and that you don't arc it.
  18. While I agree the standard white PVC is a bad choice (it will shatter easily), the black ABS plastic pipe doesn't shatter when it breaks and takes a lot of force to break.
  19. IIRC the main failure point on the MMs is the outer part (with the lock knob) sheering the little screws that hold it on. Not overly common, but the only complaint I can recall about them.
  20. Yeah the only difference with the years/injection types is the emissions plumbing on the headers. I have the Pacesetters on my 93, went in nicely.
  21. At least they knew to wave goodbye.....
