More mock up. I’m thinking 1” or 1.5” steel bar for a mini fairing up front. I have a coworker who can weld this all together for me. Dimensions are 60x45.

I just wanted to add to what @hawairish stated and fill you all in on some details. We want to provide comprehensive R50 specific aftermarket support. Aside from SFD's and trailing arms we've been developing accessories and solutions to other areas of the truck like modular rooftop and interior storage, rooftop access, front and rear bumpers, driveline upgrades and much more. Like @hawairish mentioned we have been very fortunate to have the support of some willing members of this community who are using our initial products and we encourage those folks to review them here. We both are working fulltime jobs so the process has been slow but steadily ramping up. 2019 is going to be packed so stay tuned for more updates! One quick note- We recently acquired @ferrariowner123 2003 LE and will be using that in the development of our products. Big thanks to him for adding a crucial element to this equation!

Afternoon Project: Started on the rear bumper this afternoon. Got the main frame of it fabricated and mocked up. Deciding if I will continue with my initial plan to add the sides that will cover where the OEM bumper bends around towards the rear wheel well. I’m by no means a master fabricator....but I love tinkering and I’m super pumped to see some cool things come out for our pathys. If you guys ever need help with anything at all, I literally live a block from hawairish and would be happy to assist. Do you guys plan to do mostly frame and suspension related parts...or are any other items in the works? It’d be great to see some things like cold air boxes, snorkels and snorkel mounts, pre dabbed trans cooler brackets. I’m hoping to get some cardboard and some plastic or aluminum sheeting pretty soon here to mock up a cold air box and I’d like to do a trans cooler soon too.

I guess we're due for an update, right @TowndawgR50? Things are moving along! Albeit, a little slower than we anticipated perhaps, but we're still at it. SFD designs and costs have been our primary focus, but we've not limited ourselves to discussions about other great ideas. We're making some initial hardware and material purchases over the next few days, as we're both anxious to get some prototypes made now that designs and numbers on paper (er, digital paper). We've given a significant amount of thought to the strut spacers in particular; I was tweaking the CADs for them tonight, actually. They're definitely a departure from what many are expecting. Behind the scenes, we've been in contact with several members who've expressed interest in kits already, and we're stoked about that and absolutely appreciate the support! We've also added a new tool to our arsenal (it arrived today actually!): a finger brake press. This will allow us to put some structural bends into plate, which opens the doors to a few additional design and product options. Lastly, we've been mulling over a company name since the end of December, but one particular name has grown on us and we've been informally using it. Can't share it yet, but I can tell you it's not HawDawgs.

Alright so after 3 years and 55,000 miles later I decided to make a build thread of what I have done to my rig. Coming very soon (hopefully if the weather doesn't derail my plans) I should be adding and modifying my rig more and more. Since a lot has happened I'm just gonna do a real quick run through to what I have done with my truck. So to start off I got the truck my senior year of high school with 117K miles and was extremely clean. The next "mod" on the list was to murder it all black with tinted windows and plastidipping the rims black. Next thing I add was a brush guard but left the headlight wraps off just in case someone hit them in a parking lot for example and causing damage to the fenders if they were bent from the collision causing more damage. The next big thing I did was installing the OME coils, HD front and MD rear with Gabriel struts (they were on sale for a 100 bucks and I was broke but they still work lol). One week later I got my Bilstein 5125 shocks installed and the rig really remained the same for awhile. After awhile I was getting tired of the look of my rig and I wanted to make it look more unique. I put fluery's 1 inch spacer front and rear as the OME coils started to sag after lots of miles of trails and forest roads. I installed the Rola Rack with extension and attached it via electrical conduit clamps. Next I removed the brush guard because I saw it as a damage multiplier, killed my approach angle and took my tow hooks away, I then retrofitted the 30" lightbar in the bumper to make it more discreet and also it doesn't emit a whole lot of glare back to me. Next move was uping the tire size to a "32" with wheel spacers to clear the lower strut perch and give it some stance. I did the '00 grill mod with amber lights and added clear corners to make it more unique and lastly I added a side awning that I got on black Friday. Also worth noting, the worst thing I have ever experienced with this rig was replacing the coolant crossover pipe gasket on the back of the head between the firewall. It is almost impossible to get at with the little room you have in there. I luckily was able to achieve this feat probably because I have small hands and I literally crammed them in there as I wanted the leak gone and had everything off down to the block besides the heads. I'll post some pics about that mess later on. Like I said, lots of things happened to this rig so I'm just playing catch up on this thread so sorry for the scattered things. I just think the capacitor is a band aid for a larger overall problem. There’s no reason that the factory alternator shouldn’t be able to handle the draw from an electric fan. Something else is going on and a capacitor will just mask it

I'm not a fan of how narrow the upper rails are either...it looks like like a mohawk at times, but I've always loved the look of the rails from the side, which is one reason I've been hesitant to go higher than the rails. Basically, whatever rack I'd make would be flat vs. the slight arc on the rails. The reason I like the wider approach is because it provides an overhang for under-mounting light brackets, hooking tie-downs to it, having a few extra square feet, and not having to lean against the truck to bring stuff up and down from it. I want the over-rail mount because the space between rack and roof might be usable for other storage (flat water containers, folding table, etc.). All those reasons are what keep me on the bubble.

Having lived with my truck in the desert I get it but in the woods, it’s the R50’s slender profile & tapering top which are its greatest asset. Be sure to watch for those forward corners catching on branches (up here, I’m definitely considering limb risers once my rack & bumper are done). Definitely look at@hawairish recessed mesh-that was well done. I generally don’t care for those hefty SE side rails but his use of them was perfect & took advantage of those long elevated bars (something you can’t do with the adjustable LE load bars).

Exactly so! Our ‘02+ LEs mount the spoiler onto a piece that is also the glass hinge. An earlier version mount independently outboard of that location directly to the hatch metal. I would use this system, however the deflector really just gets in the way of stuff on the rack. Especially if you’re putting on a full rack.

Why not just add bars in the slots of the current side rails. It would add functionality but keep the aesthetics & still be cheap. Here is an example on 5th Gen 4Runners. I just ordered 9449 springs to replace my OME coils and 1 inch spacer, although I'll probably get a little more lift because of the higher spring rate but should be in the ball park. I should get them in the week or so and post a pic of it before and after.

9447 is the lowest amount of lift

Interesting. I'll have to take a closer look. I should probably pull the dash anyway, I think I've still got fluff in the vents from when the mice got in because it doesn't blow nearly as hard as it should.

Update: Scored a killer price on an xj bumper with pre-runner bar online so bit on it. Spent the day getting it mocked up Wasn't too bad, but did take nearly all day to do some trial and error research. I think it came out pretty good though. Will definately have to have a plate made to protect the radiator as well as reroute or build a cover for the washer fluid and radiator overflow. For the radiator overflow, I may make something for it. Now I just have to take it back off and have it sprayed. Was also planning to change out the front springs too, but time ran out. Project for another day. Next relatively big project is building a custom rear bumper with a swing arm for my spare and jerry can. Thanks for looking Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G930A using Tapatalk

Dude that headlight tint looks AMAZING but I can't imagine they light up the road very well at night. How is the light output form them?
