  1. Past hour
  2. Finally got some time to go check out the condition of the trails. Hoping for a fun summer!
  3. Today
  4. That's why a replacement like a a/c condenser or starter is really nice lmao
  5. Yesterday
  6. I want to test the spare amp vs the one that's in mine to make sure it's good before I box it up. But, yeah, it's not doing me any good gathering dust on the bench. PM me and we'll sort it out. Might be worth checking the diodes on yours, if your meter has a test mode for that. They can fail open or closed (or fail closed and then burn open), and I imagine either condition would play hell on whatever logic circuit they were part of.
  7. I had a look on nissanpartsdeal. 55130-4W000 is listed for '00-'04, 4WD/AWD. 55130-2W100 is listed for '98-'04, 2WD and P/4WD (which I assume means part-time 4WD, not the AWD/all-mode). I suspect someone screwed up the data entry, and the 2Wxxx part number is for 2WD, and the 4Wxxx part number is for 4x, because why the hell would the panhard bar care which transfer case you have? Then again, why would it care if if it's got a transfer case at all, unless they did some weight savings on the 2WD variant, assuming it wouldn't be beat on as hard. I found one other part number, 55130-0W000, for the VG33 trucks and some VQs. The site says it's incompatible with yours, assuming you've got the AWD/all-mode transfer. Pictures of the three variants show different whatsits along the bar (which I assume are vibration dampers). I don't know that this is the only difference between them, but I also don't know that it isn't. Listed weights and dimensions vary a little, but there's no indication of what exactly they were measuring, so I'm not sure how far to trust those numbers. Could be one guy measured between centers, another measured overall, and the third measured the box the part came in. Could be they're all slightly different lengths and widths, just to be that way, but then they'd also have three different axle housings and/or three different panhard brackets, and I have no idea what slight changes to the dimensions of the panhard would've accomplished anyway. That said, Nissan does do stupid things sometimes. I'd be hesitant to put $200+ on my hunch that it's all the same part but with different unimportant dangly bits tacked on. +1 for checking the wreckers. Even if you don't find the right one, the wrong one from a wrecker should be a much cheaper experiment than the wrong one brand new from Nissan.
  8. It's amazing how much room a parts car takes up once it's taken apart.
  9. Well in this case the only other thing I could recommend if your local junkyard allows it is to bring your old panhard bar to the junkyard with you and try to match it up or test fit it on one of those R50s that's there. My R50 has been a bit of a work in progress, it's come a long way and it's also been built and maintained with junkyard parts lol Chris.
  10. I did some more inspection and poking around on my board tonight, but failed to uncover anything. I think I'll have better success putting my effort into finding another amp unit, unless you want to part with yours? From your post above, I do believe that I should be ok with Pathfinder models from '87-'95.
  11. Last week
  12. Looks good. Any more updates? I'm getting ready to possibly do this on my xterra but will mean I lose it for this wheeling season.
  13. Lol. I've had a few parts trucks! Guess I kept some things. I'll go out to the X now.
  14. Thanks..yes that has been part of the search. The bars themselves don't have part numbers on them that I can see. Your Pathy looks amazing
  15. Your best bet is to try sourcing a replacement from a junkyard if you have access to one around you. Chris.
  16. I've just got back into looking at this KA conversion. I have tried an early Z24 distributor and oil pump shaft and it fits! The Z24 oil pan also fits! In theory alI would need to run this NA would be a custom intake manifold. It looks like my prayers have been answered: KA24DE Billet intake flange (xcessivemanufacturing.com) These guys make the flanges, DCOE carb flanges and the intake runners. I am pricing it all up and also need to do some measurements to ensure it will clear the (RH Drive) Brake booster. The other option is to spec up either an NA TBI combo, or a mild turbo and aftermarket ECU combo, but I really like the idea of keeping it analogue. See how we go! FGF
  17. I have a broken panhard on my 2004 Pathfinder 4WD 3.5 Automatic R50 -Made 01/04 . The exact one is not made anymore ,the part# is 55130-4W000..easily find the other 55130-2W100 but i don't know if that one will work. I think there is length and bushing shroud size difference although if you run my vehicle in parts search it pops up that the 2W100 will work but my mechanic isn't sure. Any one have a clue as to some options I can pursue? Thanks,
  18. Spare compressor? How does that happen? lol No worries, when you go the energy and time i'll be around. I am still waiting to hear back from both places.
  19. I agree. I'm going to take a closer look at the board when I have some time to see if I can find anything defective that I can fix myself. I'm not real hopeful on that, but I figure it's worth a shot.
  20. I'm seriously considering rebuilding mine. I found a shaft seal kit, and I'm sure the bearings can be sourced by my local bearing house. https://donbrownbusparts.com/products/compressor-shaft-seal-kit-dkv14c-d-mt2060 Found a spare compressor in a box of old parts at my grandmother's house. Too wiped to go back out now, I'll snap a pic of the Xterra compressor plug tomorrow.
  21. Interesting! I wonder as well. I had one place, PartsHawk, claim they can get their warehouse to get me a picture. I am waiting for that picture. I also hoping Four Seasons will get back to me. I wonder if I should just spend the $600+ on the Nissan compressor (if they truly have it in stock). This economy is absolute rubbish!
  22. The connector on my Xterra (first gen) is one wire. I wonder if that connector is the same as these new aftermarket compressors? I can take a pic later to verify. The compressor style is the same as the wd21.
  23. If you can work out what kind of plug it is, you may be able to find a pigtail for it, and make up a patch harness to avoid modifying either the truck harness or the compressor. Sometimes the pins in the plug will accept a standard size of spade terminal, but of course you want to make sure it's a tight fit that won't overheat or rattle loose.
  24. Wow! That hose sounded like a massive headache!! If these oddities keep happening, I am either going to sink or swim as a person who just plays mechanic. I truly appreciate your insight and time you put into opening my eyes and your step by step instructions to help me escape this road block!
  25. Yeah, the aftermarket parts market is kind of a double-edge sword. On the one hand, they try and maximize compatibility across makes/models in order to maximize market size. This allows us to still buy parts for older cars which we wouldn't be able to do otherwise as the market would be too small and they just wouldn't make them. On the other hand - 'some modification/assembly may be required'. I was just dealing with this replacing the high pressure power steering line. I took pics, etc. beforehand, yet I simply couldn't get the new hose to fit (rubber portion too long). Made no sense. Everything else looked correct. One oddity about the new hose was it had a plastic protector wrapped around the rubber hose portion which is definitely not OEM nor nothing like anything I've seen on any google images/videos for a Pathfinder. After screwing around with it for a while I realized - install the metal portions of the hose onto the frame/clamps as normal - which causes the rubber portion of the hose to bow out (not normal) and consequently rest on the frame of the car (not good) - hence the plastic hose protector. There were no instructions...
