3rd Annual MrJim run

Recommended Posts

I am knocking myself to a maybe. My front end is in such bad shape, worn out bushings all over, bad struts and bearings. The fundage I dropped into my clutch and school starting back up has made me poor again. I will see if I can get anything done before Oct.

Rig is in bad shape and so are my finances. I can't risk the 9 hour drive plus beating on it in the rocks. Hopefully next year things will pick up...

Have fun!

I can only go if I leave Saturday at the end of the day or camp and then bail early Sunday morning. Is anyone else on that schedule that we can head out together? Or, if I camp, is it a bad idea to head out on my own? Me = 2nd timer, stock truck with 31" MTs. I suppose I only plan on making it on the easy trails anyway, so it's probably OK. Let me know if this sounds like a bad idea and I'll catch everyone next time.

I had a bad week.  The sump pump failed in my apt building, causing 3 floors of sewage to back-flow into my apt through my shower.  I called my landlord for hours and she was taking her time getting me help and all the time I was fighting this flow with all my towels, clothes, blankets, etc. trying to keep it out of as much of my apt as I could.  I kept it isolated to basically half my apt and I was literally covered with other people's sewage for hours.  I basically ended up getting so sick that I wound up in the  hospital from Tuesday morning until Friday.  Its was really crappy and that is no pun intended.  In that time, I missed a couple of deadlines on going to meet with mechanics about Pathfinder, so now I may have to have them just put the engine back to a running state and to make it past next week's run.  They did some initial things to it while trying to see where biggest issues where in engine, like tighten down everything, change oil, run it a few times, etc. and they were asking for input from me, but I was laid up in hospital without my phone.  It might be smoking a little at the run, but its still kicking.  I will just get rebuild done afterwards.  I will just trailer it up there with my F250.  No Hummer escort this year.  The F250 will tow it better than the Hummer did anyway.  It has a 460 in it that was just rebuilt.  Hey maybe we can pull the 460 and transmission, to pry into the Pathfinder.  p>

Well add another to the no go list this year.

Combination of the truck not really being ready or up to the task and work over running everything for the past few months... oddly though, the money flow has not kept up with work flow (oh wait that was at least partly due too two kids birthdays followed immediately by the new school year kicking in )

And given the fact that I will be working in Montana for half of October, I can't really chance something happening to the truck just before I go.

I do however hope that everyone who does make it to this years event has a great time and takes lots of pictures. You know, to make me and all others who will miss this years event, regret not being able to go even more than we already will.

Jim: Dude, that sucks bad! What a freaking mess.

I have to machine valve reliefs into my pistons and then I'm ready to assemble the new VG34 for my Pathy. In theory the motor will be together this weekend and I'll get it installed Mon-Tues as Dennis and I plan to leave Thursday morning to run the Naches Pass trail on the way over from Enumclaw. We'll see if it all comes together in time. I've been thrashing full time for a week to get the engine together so I can go on this run. I'm expecting somewhere in the 215-225hp range so it should be moderately entertaining and will probably get better mileage due to the higher compression ratio of 10.5:1. Time will tell...

As long as you dont have any step rails, you should be fine ;) And one of us could escort you out, so that's not a big deal, i wheeled my truck a bunch when it was stock on 31's and they do surprisingly well!

This run seems to be turning out to be super low-key. Since the run is only a week out, let's see if we can get these "Maybe's" figured out, I'm just going to assume "not going" otherwise.

Let's go ahead and make the meet up time 9:30am at the Safeway in Cle Elum on Saturday. Derek, if you could, copy some of the more informative posts in to the OP.

That is much like my situation. I am doing all I can to get things together to be at the run. The worse case scenario for the Pathfinder is that it might just be a little better off mechanically than it was a few weeks ago, but smoking and valve noise still there, since they hadn't yet started the actual rebuild, though I thought it was underway for weeks. Frustrating, but could be worse. I feel as though I personally have like 5% of my energy back so far. The Doctor told me I would be fine, and that it would just take a little time to get my strength back.

Its disappointing to see all of the people dropping out this year. I know first hand how obstacles can keep popping up that could cause participants to fall the wayside. I am determined to make it and hope to see lots of NPORA members there. :)

Good luck Mr 510. Hope to see you there.

Jim

With this just being a few days away.... skulptr, hurry up and get your name off the maybe list!

And just posting again, meeting at the Safeway in Cle Elum at 9:30... we'll probably hang out for an hour before heading out on the trail. Here is my cell phone number in case you're running late. 206.359.2506

That's a fine question! We'll probably be camping somewhere, but we aren't even sure if we'll make our little "before the run" run now, we should be there saturday though, at least, WE BETTER!

It only takes two to wheel! We'll have more fun with just the three trucks anyway, takes less time to wheel through obstacles. But it looks like it'll be MrJim, Enginerd, and myself.

I'll see you guys at the Issaquah Fred Meyer @ 8:30! I plan to be there a tad early to do some junk food shopping.

Loaded up and ready to go!

Finally wrapped everything up at 3:30am. Trying to get off the computer and get a little sleep. Need to get up at 6:50 to be able to meet the others in Issaquah by 8:30. I got a month's worth of projects done in last 24 hours. Gonna sleep good Sat night... :)
