I will assume his pathfinder exploded. I would like to know tho... sounds interesting but won't work for my pathfinder considering what I use it for.

I will check exhaust leak either way. I'm thinking valve issue as well and it is intermittent. Goes away when the car is moving as well. Only when idle. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I parked at work and tried to see if I could record it but the noise stopped. Looks like it is intermittent! Makes my life so much easier... I did notice this when I was driving: when it's in drive, it will make the ticking/knocking noise but when I put it in neutral or park, the noise stops. Confused! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Went offroading (forest service road, nothing crazy other than the one tame mud hole) last weekend and on the way home I noticed a loud ticking noise. Thought it might be my engine running low on oil so I pulled over checked it. It was OK but topped it up. Fired the engine up, sounds fine then started ticking again but only at idle. I'm stumped. Yesterday, I was driving home from work and noticed it again. Thought I should try holding down my brakes while in drive and give a little gas. Ticking noise stopped completely until the engine went back to idle then started like half a second later. Any ideas? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Which oil filter do you use for your r50?

The economy super cheap frams are the one to be wary of. The higher end stuff are fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

x2. I do the EXACT same thing as ferrari. The only sucky thing is that I can't find rain-x in 11" for my rear but whateveer I got a cheap one because the previous owner put a 13" on it that kept hitting the handle.... Same oil and same filter until last oil change though. I used Castrol full synth. and Fram Ultra Synth filter. I used Mobil 1 but I REALLY hate the fact they don't have a rubberized grip on the bottom for easy removal. I get whatever oil is on sale at Canadian Tire. Mobil 1, Castrol or Pennzoil. Always 5w20, full synthetic. -
Need Some Assistance With Catalytic Converters

Emphasis on gently. That's a $300 part there. -
Just curious, if you leave your pathfinder sitting for a couple days or more, do you notice an oil leak underneath? I had my pathfinder sit in the parking spot for 4 days without moving last weekend. When I drove it on Monday, I heard a ticking sound and I was like, "wtf??" and saw that I had lost some oil. Topped it up and it was fine again. Just curious... I'm thinking it might be a seal that shrinks when it cools down enough and then leaks... somewhere...

Between air intake and throttle body on the driver side closest to fender and radiator. I would also check for vacuum leaks on that piping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk -

I would have normally agree that it couldn't be the cats but since the previous owner did disconnect the CEL (dick move), it is a pretty fair bet that the owner neglected maintenance and allowed both cats to fail over time. I still agree that you should check the air flow meter and the o2 sensors first. Then I would find the PO and express my feelings through my therapeutic baseball bat. Hey, my photo showed up! Cool! -
You can make one with a pipe from a hardware store. Just crush both ends with a press or vice then drill the hole through to bolt it to your PF. Easily a $5-10 part.
-
You can use a straight pipe. I think stioc has done this before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Would this work on R50? I haven't looked at the wiring for my PF yet but I do notice that the headlights are pretty... weak... Only asking because I noticed that the majority if not all the posts are from WD21 owners.

What did you do to your Pathfinder today?
Quaintbucket replied to RedRider3141's topic in The Garage
Hear you on clean air but I was being nice when I was saying "tree huggers." I'm talking more about environmental warriors who go way about and beyond only because of principle not by sound and realistic results. I'm calculating my numbers up right now to find out how much play money I have left after all those repairs+upgrades. I really want to buy locking hubs, trailer hitch, and the roof cargo basket. I might end up getting option 1 and 3 since they are considerably cheaper and will go a long way for me. -

Ssssh, don't tell the misguided tree huggers that. They get upset. Mounted my new skidplate from fleury. Happy as a dog in a pantry!
