AC compressor?

so 2day while riding home i noticed @ random intervals a lil jerk while going down the highway but only when i had the ac off it didnt happen so i was wondering if this was a result of the comp. kicking on &off

so.. lemme understand this. it didn't jerk when the ac was OFF? well.. when the ac is ON yes, you will feel the occasional "jerk" and lack of power for a moment. that's yer ac compressor working properly.

if it jerks with the ac OFF.. then you may have a blocked injector or some crud blocking things up or timing issues or a vaccum leak.. or a few other things...

hmmm is it that noticable? My AC is lacking (not so cold anymore) but I have never noticed a jerk of any kind while driving when I have had it on

 

*What, that's not entirely true... I notice jerks all over the place.. ussually (but not always) in other cars though

lol. when i say "jerk" i mean you can feel the power being sapped then return.... never had it any other way in any of my trucks. my clue that things are working. my ac will freeze yer bits off set on #2 #4 and yer froze solid.

mine has the "old school stuff"... isn't that R-13 or something? I just had it charged and the whole system checked for $175 last summer

R-12 is the old, R-134 is the newer

Heay guys speaking of r-12 and r-134 you know that you

can retrofit your old r-12 system to accept 134 then the main exspense

is getting the old R-12 out of your system R134 is alot cheaper

and easier I got a kit at my Oriellys that came with three cans

of 134 the adapters and hoses and instructions and everytrhing

to change my 91 pathy to a 134 system For are you ready ................

....................$35.00 and you dont need a liscense or any thing

my system was already empty when i got the truck 9 months ago

i pretty much just filled her up with the instructions in the kit

and now i have ice cold AC And i mean its cold as hell

Let us know how long your compressor lasts, gillj. 90+% of folks who use those kits have the compressor burn up within 2 years due to inadequate lubrication.

yeah. i wanted to do that conversion but i would have needed to have the old system disposed of and they said my ac compressor is not "suited" to the new stuff.. all in all they quoted me $300 to change over. i said fill 'er up and see you later for $178 (with full system check as well)

Might I add that if your going to charge your system to NOT use those cheap can and hose together set ups. The fitting is plastic and is cheap.

yea u had it right...well that makes me feel better cuze i usually never run it...but w/ thebum finger i cant hang the arm out the window & i dont want it 2 sweat 2 much so i was running the ac...

 

but i was scared that full tire carcuss (not some tiny thing) that got thrown up and i ran over (no option cuze there was a concrete wall on 1 side & a semi on the other & 1 behind going about 75)

 

it wasnt a very big drop just enough 4 me to worry
