95 Pathy Can't drop the tranny pan

In the haynes repair manual it says unbolt and it should drop, but I am not so lucky. It is caught towards the front of the vehicle and I can't get it down and out. I could take off the exhaust, but I do not really know what I am doing. I am trying to replace the filter and just clean her up. Any help appreciated.

Isent there a seal on the tranny pan? Dont you have to gently pry it off? I may be wrong...

really if ure mechanically inclined...if not find a buddy that is get him to help and teach u...i've done this with many friends of mine and now they'll tackle almost anything

 

just see whats hanging up and remove it get new gaskets and put it back on...i dont know much about automatics never had 1...but is it just the gasket heated up and melted on and is stuck...you could possibly run a razor knife around it to break it loose...

Yes you have to drop the exhaust in order to drop the pan. That's why I took mine to the dealership to have the trans serviced.

When I serviced mine it was hung up on the exhaust, but my seal was fine, so I pulled the magnet and cleaned it, then with pan hengin out I could reach all the bolts in the filter. Put the new filter in, replaced the magnet and bolted it back up.

Usually you have to drop the exhaust to get the pan off, yes.

Thanks all. I am going to try and get the filter out without getting the pan all the way out. I can see them I just don't know if I will be able to get to them all. I am heading down there now, wish me luck.
