Exhaust Manifold Replacement

Need some input on my dilemma. I have an 88 SE V6 path. The pass side manifold needs replacing ( its very loud and possibly cracked ). Problem is I took it to a very reputable shop and he basically said that there are so many unknowns that it's probably not worth fixing. IE: broken studs , possible head removal and all the nightmarish things you will probably run into trying to replace a manifold on a 27yr old truck with 200K plus miles. Esp since I don't have a lot of money in the truck. Any suggestions ? Thought about maybe trying to get it welded but even the best welders have trouble with cast plus you got the temp getting hot and cold. Any thoughts ? I have already purchased all the parts. Thanks

Find a mechanic who is not a retard. That or do it yourself. Take the heat shield off, you'll be able to see right away if there is broken studs.

Sounds like the mechanic doesn't want to do it LOL. Can't blame him, I've been putting mine off (not that bad yet). If the manifold is cracked you could probably get one at a wrecker or through a part-out.

I actually got a new one from stylin trucks for like $33 they were $96 in all the part stores
