timing belt tensioner

anyone know if the stud that the tensioner bolts to is screwed in or pressed fit the one on my 88 broke.

haven't pulled the heads yet to see what damage there is to the pistons, hopefully nothing bad

Pretty sure it's screwed in.

It's screwed in. And it is a bitch to take out.

yea, broke mine off and had to drill it, tap it and used a bolt instead of a stud/washer/nut

 

it's the little bump to the right of the tensioner

yeah I was going to pull one out of a spare block and I was afraid I was going to snap it off. guess I'll pull the heads an check the pistons if theyre ok I'll go ahead and drill it out

And the valves, they took the damage when my RH cam broke, pistons were fine.

I've got a extra set of heads so I;m good there, if worse comes to worst I've a extra engine,

hopefully all I'll need is the heads
