I'd plan for a full day if not the whole weekend. You never know what problems you might run into.

The rear springs can be done without a coil spring compressor, but it would be a lot easier if you had one. The UCA spindle to frame bolts were shot on one side of mine, so you might want to get a set of those in case yours are too. Pick up a 14x1.5 tap to clean the threads if you need to replace the bolts.

The UCA bushings are a pain to remove. You can burn them out with a torh or click here for info on what I did.

Suspension components are under a lot of stress as you drive. Take your time on the project. Be safe and do it right, don't rush it.

Good luck.

Yeah, I was just agreeing with you, statikuz. :aok: Seems like any time I want to whip something out quick, that's when a bolt or a stud snaps on me or something... Probably just get into too big of a hurry ~ "this'll be easy" mentality at work. Or Murphy's Law, maybe... P...

It took 25 minutes to change all 4 shocks last summer on my 4 door...then yesterday we did the JGC coils and Rancho shocks...that job took 1.5 hours as we had to cut the coils, and the driver side coil didn't wanna play nice. We had a spring compressor.... allow a day for any hiccups..my Pathy was nice....everything came paprt as desired. -bounce-

Ahem....

Shock trouble for canuklehead

It's the "10 minute" jobs that end up taking 2 days & countless trips for parts, etc. in my experience... P...

get a good penetrating oil like PB blaster and spray the parts thr day before, its amazing what penetrant will do in 24 hours, as opposed to 10 minutes

Its even more amazing what it'll do over the course of of couple days if you spray it each day. I had a problem one on a weekend project, so I left it during the week and soaked it several times with PB Blaster, and it came right off. That's gonna be standard operating procedures for any new project I come across. ;)

That's one reason I'm considering buying lift coils from AC or Calmini. Here it is being very difficult to find a JGC coil in a junkyard, and probably they will ask much $$$$ for them, and how could I be sure they were from a V8 if they're shiiping that to me? So it will be better to import and pay the darn import taxes.

after i cut off the pig tail i pulled out the old ones. They new coils were 3 inches shorter and it looked like if my rear wheels ever articulated to much they would fall out. how much shorter than the stock springs are the jgc's supposed to be?

I paid $70 for a brand new set of JGC coils from Kragen. They were worth it as local JY's wanted $40 for used..... that, and I couldn't find any to snag at the JY....
