Sounds like fun! You can host pics on Photobucket or another hosting service, click the 'insert image' icon (below the smiley icon above the reply box) and then paste a direct link to the pic in there. Can't wait to see what this beast looks like.

1) I would assume the exhaust manifold bolt issue would have been dealt with already when the for sure put in new exhaust to race it. Just double check/ask.

2) Looks to me based on the pictures it is still running stock size tires on basically stock sized suspension (i.e. no extra travel)? I could be wrong, but just from the looks of it doesn't seem like much has been changed there.

3) My biggest concern, personally, would be the stock steering set-up. I won't say that it is weak per se, but it does develop some slop/looseness in the steering box with age. it's not terrible but something to be aware. Maybe it has already been upgraded.

Well, that's my 2cents. Love the roll cage. Wish I had one. Not that i race, but I do sometimes get myself in hairy situations.

yea i have already been looking it the calmini steering hopefully will be able to make my own setup. yea not sure on the suspension set up yet as its a bit had to tell the key is to get as much travel as possible but without the lift as the higher you go the more likely you will roll when trying to drive fast and being a production class you are limited on what you can change. but i will no more in two days time. plan to give it a overhaul its half way threw a season at the moment and would like to start fresh and ready next year but will have it out doing a fair bit of testing.

You might want to look into the HooHaa centerlink option available at gressroots4x4,com coupled with the manual D21 steering box replacement for the idler arm. That would make the front end as bullet proof as possible with the tie rods being the weak link (the best as far as I'm concerned). Easily done for under $500 as well. All the info is here...

Calmini is somewhat of a crap shoot for quality and often you can't get replacement parts without buying an entire new set up. Some people have had good luck/like the products while others have really bad stories. Click on the link in my sig for a brief example...

is there any common faults/weak pionts that i should look for before buying

I spy a 5 speed tranny! There is a TSB on 'overfilling' for proper lubricatiion in all situations, the gist of it is to put in 5.1liters through the shifter hole, Redline MT-90 is highly recommended if it is available to you.

The auto locking hubs can be problematic, but it looks like there are manual hubs on already?

Yes, it is, but go to the Garage/Technical Service Bullitin section to read up on it. The 96+ manual trannys had the filler hole relocated up higher to compensate...

Sorry, I didn't proofread, pretty sloppy when trying to provide a link!

www.grassroots4x4.com is the site I meant to say...
