And to jack my own thread ..

For those of you who don't know, I work in the lab for a custom rubber mixer. One of our biggest clients is a global safety equipment supplier that uses our material to manufacture line worker gloves all over the world. In fact, your local power company employees are probably using our material (I QC'd that @!*% !). Any way, thought this video was pretty cool.

*edit ..

I just realized I should put my future vid posts in the proper pics and vids forum. I have made a mental note. :togo:

That was pretty cool. Love seeing video and pictures of back then.

I don't think that was all that long ago. It looks like the line workers were wearing our white Hypalon based gloves. While that technology has been around for a while, I don't think this could be that old?

** The 1939 vid. I get it.

I like the old vid and would kill for most of those cars! Can I add this I just ran across as it is in the same theme, sort of??

As for the high voltage stuff, that is plain insane!! I honestly can't believe they sit there and play with it and giggle!

Good job on the gloves. What are they rated to and where can I get some? I know someone who might need a pair...

The porn music is pretty terrible. I discovered that Eduard Khil makes a perfect stand-in. Cool footage though!

Also cool with the construction pics and the guys zapping their gloves... I'm just noticing a theme here of guys being higher-than-a-survivable-fall and acting like it's nothing.

Nothing to see here, just chilling with my buddies, my dress shirt, and an axe. No possible way this could go wrong. Too bad the missus made me leave the baby at home, he'd love it up here.

:hide: wait for the vertigo to pass...

I don't know where to get them. I think they are sold in bulk to power companies. I'll have to check on that. I do know that they make them from 500v (look just like orange dishwashing gloves) all the way up to 20,000v that resemble black astronaut gloves. Those are the big users which are made out of our Natural rubber compounds. We make a lead version for them that go into nuclear power stations where the workers stand behind a leaded glass window and reach in through the walls to do what they do. We don't like making that compound for obvious reasons. Thankfully, we only dabble with the lead cured material on small production runs twice a year.

Hey, would you look at that? I found a vendor for our customer. Man they charge a lot for these things (I know the raw material cost vs. volume they buy) ..

That's pretty cheap considering the difference of blowing your awm off or burning you to a crisp...

Honeywell, no wonder, that'll add to the price as well!

Check this out, it is a pretty good read and absolutely true. The Mohawk Indians built most of the tall stuff and were so opposed to fear as a culture, they just acted like they didn't give a sheit!
