wolkersdorfer2
Hey guys I have a '95 Path XE and the day after i bought it the tach stayed at 0 when i started it, then commenced "flipping-the-crap-out" for a few seconds then will be accurate again, then it goes crazy again... whats the cause of this? ps. are these OBD0 or 1? thanks, josh
Precise1
OBD1, you can read the codes from the ECU; there is a write up in the Garage/How To section. The 94-95 dash is electronic and prone to funkiness. I had a tach fail in my fiirst pathy, I drove without for 3 years, removed it, reinstalled it and it came back to life. Do this, remove the gauge cluster, retighten all the brass screws (loosen then retighten) as they are the ground for all the components (the rear membrane is a circuit 'board' so just be gentle. Also check the connectors for engagement, corrosion, etc. This works about 1/2 of the time... B
Alkorahil
crazy tach problem! If precise's solution doesnt work you will have to replace the tach. Check fleabay and salvage yards. Some folks on here might have one as well.
AzZo
What they said. I also have a 1995 with the same problem. But have yet to pull instrument cluster.I am just living with it at the moment. At least the speedometer work's.Right?
adamzan
Pull the cluster apart and clean the contacts for the tach with some electronics cleaner (deoxit). I was able to fix a dead/wild tach this way couple years ago.
