If you are refering to the black plug on the front/side of the distributor that is where the tachometer gets its signal from.

 

Use regular NGK plugs only. numbers BKR6EY or (BKR5EY or BKR7EY if you want)

I was talking with a tech from Nissan and he recommended not using platinum plugs. There were platinum plugs in when I did my last tune up. I didn't have any problems with them. I put regular plugs back in.

Theoretically copper will conduct better than platinum but copper will not last as long. I run platinum plugs and have no issues with them. G-powers are nice plugs. I would run V-powers if I had better means of changing the plugs every 5 oil changes.
