Changing the Coolant

I am replacing the Timing Belt and will have to refill the cooling system.

The Chilton Manual shows three "bleed plugs", but I'll be damned if I can see them !

 

Do all three need to be opened when filling the system ?

 

When I drained mine prior to the Timing Belt change, I did not get much coolant out.

 

Soon I'll be refilling the coolant and I need to know.

I only know of one bleed screw. Its on the back near the AAC valve. You dont need to remove it, just undo it a bit.

Be careful, mine was very weak and when I screwed it back down it snapped.

 

Two questions -

 

1. Is the bolt or screw PLASTIC ?!

 

2. Where is the AAC Valve ?

 

I am not very up on all the "stuff" on this engine ?

Any pictures of it ?

 

The Chilton Manual shows a photo - but it is a close up photo, so one cannot tell WTF

it is on the engine...

 

IUs it easy to access ?

 

'95 Pathfinder - VG30E engine V6 - 4x4.

Nope its an aluminum screw

 

Its on the back of the intake manifold.

The AAC is actually underneath the intake, but there is a tower thing to the right of it which a wire connects to. (dont have a pic right now)

 

The plug is to the left of this. It has a sticker next to it has a warning in English, French, and I think Japanese telling not to open when hot too.

 

Yes, very easy to get to. Just need a 10mm socket. An extension is helpful too depending on how fat your ratchet head is.

you can also, with the radiator cap off and the engine idle, pump(squeze) the lower radiator hose repeatedly and then the upper with the cap on.

If you hear a "gurgle sputter" in the radiator when you do the lower you prolly got an air pocket out.

I just kinda lifted up the front, took da cap off, started it up, waited for it to go down, and kept filling it up...took the full container of coolant, and matched pretty much what I took out, little more cause I lost some to spillage while removing lower hose.....
