so sunday i went out there tryin to start it up. runs for like a few seconds and dies then has a hard time tryin to start it up all i hear is a back fire in the air box with smoke coming out of it. but when it did run wood burning coloring smoke came out of it (whitish grey) then blueish grey smoke then it went to black powder smoke coming out then stops from there. i dont know whats goin on. im thinking my next step is the fluel pump. i have a new filter in there. im thinking it maybe one of the injector to is clog cause i hear it clattering when i drive it underload. its like when i start it up seems like a clould of smoke comes out then quits after awhile and its thick too. takes a few times of tryin to start it up to keep it running when it wants too. hopefully i didnt ruin anything when i ran out of gas on it :(.

pretty sure white smoke means burning coolant, blue smoke is oil, and idk what black is. But blowing white smoke or blue smoke is normally not good. Are you sure your getting good spark? you might have flooded it out and its doing that due to poor spark. check your plugs and wires. I would also check and see if you have oil in your coolant or coolant in the oil. If so head gasket might have went. my guess is spark or fuel pump though. can you hear the pump when you turn the key to on? you should hear the pump humming.

yeah np idk if that stuff will work but thats stuff i would check. i would wait to get the pump until after you check the plugs. if the plugs are garbage then a new pump would just do the same thing. You could just be flooding your motor out. if the plugs are all white (very white and alot of it)on the end then its not enough fuel(in that case get a new pump). if they are soaked in gas then you have a spark problem. and i would look into new plus wires cap and rotar. possibly a coil?

well i would say that you are having a spark problem. I would say new plug wires cap and rotor would hep but thats just me. if you havent done that in a long time it might be a good idea anyways

thanks for all you replies. the oil is a normal color but i dont smell any gas but it looks like the oil went fuller like half inch on the cables. the plug i pulled out was totaly black and smelt like strong gas. i may have flooded it when i tried starting it after the fuel filter change. all this happened when i ran low on gas. thanks :)
