gas mileage

I usually get about 290kms to what the gauge says is half. On the highway I've been able to hit well over 300kms before the needle hits half. But I know for a fact that the pathfinder fuel gauge reads lower than it is. Last weekend on my trip I got 500kms and I had a 1/4 tank left according to the gauge, and that was before I corrected for having 31's on the truck. So it was more like 550.

Since I got my new tires I been gettin bout 120 when I get to 1/2 . Usually I fill @ 1/4 empty which is 65-70miles.

B4 the heavy tires 140 @ half, or even 160 on alot of hwy driving was not uncommon.

Like I suggested on AIM, maybe your over-cooling with that 170 deg thermo.

I'm pretty sure 175 was the standard for the VG w/ 180 as a heater booster option for cold climates.

i agree with you on the 175 i thought the was good mileage from 3/4 to 1/2 for 104 miles. autozone only has the 170 and 180.

so i fixed my thermo and i put gas in. is 3/4 to 1/2 tank good for 104 miles?

Are you saying you used 1/2-3/4 tank or 1/4 tank (from 3/4 to 1/2)??

Calculate your mileage by how many gallons you used. 15-18mpg seems standard in city/congested driving and 18-21+ for steady highway driving depending on how your truck is set up and what your driving habits are like...

1/4 of a 21 gallon tank is roughly 5.2 gallons. So 104/5.2 would = around 20mpg

x2

I know when I fill @ 3/4 full its always 5 gallons

when I fill @ 1/2 its usually 9.5-11@ the pump

1/4 full= 16-17

E = 19-21 (only had 21 once when driving arround @ 4 am in oregon looking 4 open gas pump)

I feel lucky that my 20 year old fuel gage is that accurate.

I have never put more than 17.5 gallons in a WD21, but then I fill up when I hit the E line at the lowest. I have no desire to see how far it will go past that. My first 1/4 tank drops quickly so I'm guessing my fuel gauges simply read a bit low... (both 95 XEs)
