Gas Smell

Check the hoses going to and coming from the filter for leaks at the connections as well as breaks in the hose. Two of mine were cracked so badly that they leaked as soon as fuel pressure came up.

Another place to look, pull your cargo carpet up and remove the fuel pump access panel in the floor and look at where the pump goes into the tank, te seal can go bad allowing fumes out as well as liquid gas when the tank is full.

So under moderate acceleration and revving the engine, i can smell gasoline inside and outside of the pathy

Only due to you mentioning revving, could it be gas rich exhaust? What is your mileage like?

Well its been a while since it was a daily driver, and we don't drive it much since...but id say less than 14, and not too great on highway either

I also thought it may be a richness issue, it idles rather high and I could smell it around the tailpipe, but im not to sure (i was outside when looking for it, so the smell could be from anywhere on the truck)

Ill try the stuff you guys suggested this weekend :)

the MPFI engines are bad about leaking around the fuel rails...tighten up those clams and that should fix it...i had to do it almost every winter on my 95

what he said worked for me.
