alpinefrontier
My truck is 2000 4x4, v6 crewcab, frontier, 86kmiles. I think its a 3.3l v6. I did the search function and found some great pictures with great advise but more i can understand tools, reasons why marks are made the better. Ok im assuming the reason you want left and right sprocket to line up on top so you can mark them and see what your doing? If you just slipped a belt off and put the new one on same way it would work but no way to double check to make sure you missed tooth. Where is the mark on lower crank i cant see it in pics. How do you get sprockets to line up above put the truck in gear with 5sp and push it until its right then back in neutral, then proceed to take the old belt off. I think i can do this job with some help more help the better so i can quickly do the job. My wheel bearings took day and half lol running back to the store swap out timken bearing seals for Orielys taiwan ones. Now i could do each side in less than hour including new pads and rotors, wow the pads are easy to change on these nissan cool. Where should i order my parts from would rockauto.com be a good idea or can i get a lifetime made gatorback timing belt?

MY1PATH
you can align the crank by using an appropriate sixed wrench on the snout. and the cam gears should turn by hand if you need to move them w/ the belt off.

unccpathfinder
the FSM for a 2001 2wd fronty was pretty much the exact same as my 87 and 95 FSMs for the timing belt change (b/c they're pretty much the same installation) I always just put a socket on the crank bolt and turn it to get everything lined up after i have the TB cover off...one thing is to make sure the case has the mark for the crank...almost every single nissan truck i've seen doent have it marked on the case so line up the cam gears and mark the crank for insurance....then you can count teeth on the belts i used to know it off the top of my head but dont now other than that i'll suggest cam seals and a waterpump...my buddy was glad he bought the cam seals b/c 1 was starting to leak and the other not so much but we changed both
5523Pathfinder
Yep, the replacement is pretty much the same. But here are the teeth numbers you wanted....
GrimGreg
The #1 TDC crank position "should" be with the gear mark at about 5 o'clock IIRC.
