joseph
Anyone have any experience with this product or any other type of fuel saver mod.??? Is this one of those too good to be things ??
88pathoffroad
Of course they are. Most of those things actually make your vehicle use more fuel and don't provide any noticeable gains on power. Just like the Tornado, the Helix, throttlebody spacers, etc.
vengeful
Complete rip-off. It's a 5 cent resistor. It tricks your ECM into thinking you're getting less airflow so it cuts the fuel down...basically just leaning out your engine and making your truck run like crap, which is then read by the O2 sensors, and the ECM compensates by triggering a check engine light saying that your MAF is malfunctioning, then runs you in closed loop, which uses more fuel. XPLORx4
...runs you in closed loop, which uses more fuel. Correction: open loop. Closed-loop uses the O2 sensors to calculate A/F ratio. Open-loop uses the preset computer A/F maps, which is usually much richer than needed.

tekazgtr1984
...throttlebody spacers, etc. Throttle body spacers are a waste...? Edited March 4, 2009 by tekazgtr1984
bitemedoughboy.com
Throttle body spacers are a waste...? not on a TBI unit, on MPI yes...
silver97ex
Throttle body spacers are a waste...? They kinda worked on carbs (better venturi effect?) but not so much on throttle bodies. IIRC
tekazgtr1984
In other words, don't waste money on a throttle body spacer for my VG33E...

88pathoffroad
I did some research a while back on TB spacers. The reported gains versus the actual gains have not been proven in any way shape or form EXCEPT by the manufacturer, and what would they have to gain by falsifying dyno sheets or power increases? Any time I saw a dyno before/after test they always did it with several mods, not JUST the addition of a spacer. Like, "Oh, we added a NEW EXHAUST and a TB spacer and gained 14 HP!!!" RIIIIIGHT.
