OldSlowReliable
So ive spent a good hour using the search function, and ive learned a bit- Mostly, i will probably be sending the parts, along with my pathy down the road the the car&truck modification shop, and having them do the labor..so im mostly looking for a specific list of everything i would need, right? so far, i have found its like with jeeps, that over a certain lift height, you need to start doing other stuff like steering adjustments and such, so i compiled a wishlist of sorts in preparation, the actual project won't be for quite a bit, but i like having a game plan 3" BL- https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...products_id=277 3" SL- http://www.purenissan.com/wd21_3_kit.htm Idler Arm Brace- http://www.purenissan.com/idler_arm_brace3.htm OR https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...?products_id=58 Steering- http://www.purenissan.com/wd21_steering.htm So, from what ive read, having a 3"BL and 3"SL will result in 33" tires? But 1 or 2 people said that this would result in rubbing, and i would need to trim my fenders (i cannot legally do that though) Suggestions/fixes? edit- just found this package, and it looks like it could save me some serious cash, but is it of lesser quality? https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=1952 Edited February 18, 2009 by OldSlowReliable
edicer2
you could probably get jeep cherroke springs and crank the torsion bars to ge ta cheap 3" suspention lift. and i bet you can find some of that other stuff used some where.
Kingman
^^ and if you do, be sure to get it properly aligned to prolong the life of the ball joints and what not.
MY1PATH
I would not do more than 2" w/o UCA's but yes there are cheaper ways than the calmini kit. new t-bars are not required(I don't reccomend them)and used JGC springs are dirt cheap. JGC is also good for stiffer ride/ load capacity. I'll be going for the (NOT grand) JC i6/v6 3" coils from rough country as they are a little bit softer(closer to stock ride)
OldSlowReliable
im kinda of weary of getting parts off an different vehicle and modifying it to work (mostly because i have no idea how, or the tools to do it) And what about the steering? edicer2
well its up to you i was just thinking you can get the springs for like 50 bucks if that at a junk yard and dont need to spend 1000k bucks on it. pretty sure u just chop a couple of the coils off of the jeep spring. idk what else you need to lift it that way i havent done it yet i just know thats the cheapest way to do it
OldSlowReliable
okie dokie! so, heres a revised shopping list of sorts :S (more for a 'these are the part classifications i need' than 'exact parts' SL / UCA / Idler Brace https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...roducts_id=1952 BL https://www.4x4parts.com/catalog/product_in...products_id=277 Steering http://grassroots4x4.com/index.php?page=sh...rt&Itemid=1 After some consideration, Im going to look into having the garage crank up my tortion bars, and spend some money on the steering fixes (steering system, UAC, idler brace, shocks, and some 3" lift rear coils)
Precise1
That sounds like the most cost effective and effective outline. It's pretty close to what the majority of the people here do... B

Precise1
I got 4 Pro Comp ES3000 shocks for $99 and they threw in a steering stabilizer. Slick bought some new jeep cherokee lift springs for something like $85 IIRC. Some people claim the AC UCAs do not correct the upper ball joint angle after the lift (the whole point) Read this to know more than you ever wanted to about springs. http://npora.ipbhost.com//index.php?showto...;hl=lift+spring Now here is the real info. PM Slick with questions or search for pictures. HAD a tire carrier. took it off. used brand new JGC coils, got 3 & 3/4" of lift on Mini Me..... after 2 years they are still excellent, even after wheelin, and LOTS of miles.we did find for some reason my coils were a slightly different design to the average JGC coil..... that may have had something to do with why i got so much lift, when the average is 2-3" FYI, i paid $30 more for NEW coils than the JY's were askin. kragen P/N: PA 8360513 (FCS782V) i paid $70 for em This post has been edited by Slick: Jan 19 2008, 09:59 PM Save $ where you can!! OldSlowReliable
Wow! I looked up that part and its less than half the price of the new ones but im looking now, and people say that i will only gain about 2 inches of lift from those, cause i have a tire carrier & 4 door model
Simon
FYI, I bought some grand cherokee 3.5" lift coils for my truck, for $170CDN,(spendy, but you can probably get them cheaper) as I had the regular JGC coils, but with my heavy custom bumper, they weren't doing it anymore. You could do the same and just cut off what you don't need. Also, I run the grassroots4x4 CL (formerly Hoohaa) and 33's and haven't had an issue. The only steering components I've had to change were the idler arm bushings.
OldSlowReliable
so then after i put 3" BL, 3" JGC/Torsion bar lift, UCA, Track bar Bracket, Calmini shocks, Grassparts CL.. Ive heard that it is very managable to fit 33's, but im a little split on rim/tire size I have heard that 15" wheels will rub on brakes, but 16" do not... And from what ive heard, 10" wide tires are basically a minimum, but can you put these on a 16"x8"? (i want cragars, and they do not sell 16"x10") So with a 33"x10" tire, and 16"x 8" (5" bs), will I need anything else to protect against rubbing? I was kind of aiming to keep my stock rims, to save the 300+ bucks (atleast until i can buy soft 8s) BUT, my current tires say 235/75/R15...but no matter how hard i look, i cannot find a single tire available with 33" diameter, that will fit on the stock rims, anyone have success? Edited February 20, 2009 by OldSlowReliable
Precise1
15' rims are stock and with 3.75-4" backspacing, they won't rub on inside components. 10.5" wide is the minimum you will find with 33" rims (metric tire sizes alter that a bit, but I recommend 'standard' sizes) and no, they usually go by 15 or 16.5" rims. 8" wide will work fine and give your pathy a wider stance. I think you should decide on the rims first, then worry about the tires... (5" bs), will I need anything else to protect against rubbing? Yes, a crow bar... Go to a tire site and read up on rims, back spacing and tire fitment. That should help with most of your questions... B
OldSlowReliable
one last Q Has anyone bought the entire kit off http://www.rockymountainsusp.com/nissan_early.htm kit # 805H and if so, did all four shocks work? cause that would end up saving me $$ Edited February 26, 2009 by OldSlowReliable
beastpath
someone in this post just bought a rough country kit from somewhere. No More Rough Country's thread

beastpath
the shocks should probably fit, but the shackles are only for hardbodies not pathfinders
Precise1
Hey OSR, there are many posts about what is needed for rear shock travel. I'll try to remember to search for them tomorrow. I'm about to drop now... B
OldSlowReliable
Found it! So the rears DO fit , so when the time comes ill probably buy the entire kit, cause the lowest i could find for a full set of shocks was 160 (calmini), and that would make the UCA's on this one come out to less than 200 simon, what are the bushing issues that you speak of? are you talking about the squeeking? or the premature wearing out of said, bushings? Oh, just to answer my previous question regarding the shocks that came with the kit for the hardbody. YES, the rear shocks went in, without a hitch. jitterymonkey
Can't find the link (this forums search sucks) but AC's UCA's are questionable. They have the same dimensions as stock so they don't do any better than stock UCA's Keep an eye out on all the Nissan forums for somebody doing an SAS & selling they're Superlift/Rough coutry UCA's I'm going to run 33/10.5/15 BFG AT's on stock Leggo's (from what I've heard you don't need to trim using 33/10.5"s on Leggo's) But I'm willing to trim if I have to. Here's what I've gathered so far...... Warn manual hubs Calminis steering kit Ac's 3" body lift Superlift UCA's Found all that stuff used & cheap. Just takes time. just need rear springs & warmer weather Not going with JGC's because I've got a 4 door/rear tire carrier & carry a lot of extra stuff. Will probably go with either AC's or calmini's 3" springs Edited March 2, 2009 by jitterymonkey
