My truck to start funnily, in the way that when it starts, the rpms instantly drop to like 200 -400 and then slowly climb back up to normal?

In the mornings it's really bad.

Timeline of a cold morning:

Engine is cranking-3 seconds, engine catches and cuts off-1 second, engine catches again and idle raises (with obnoxious lifter clatter...)

When it's warm, the rpms still drop a bit but it doesn't completely cut off.

It's NEVER failed to start after cutting off the first start of the morning.

hey kingman, it seems you have allot of badluck with your pathy.

today I looked @ one and now I'm thinking it could be a fresh start for you if you can afford it. It may save your more trouble (and $$$)than trying to bring your current one back to speed.

Its a 1987 4x4 SE V6.

re-painted in 92 very clean black, decent interior

factory winch mount bull-bar

new engine only 40k

no exhaust leaks

no appearnat rust (can double check the frame if your interested)

no lift and treadplate running boards

the seller is asking 1,950

I considered it my self but held back If it was a 1990 (2dr vg30e MPFI) it'd prolly been in my driveway by now.

talk it over w/ your folkd if ya need to and let me know what ya think man. I just want you to have a better pathfinder experience.

Thanks man, but that's not possible ATM. I reeeeeaaaaaaalllyyyy wish it was. My mom works city corporate construction, and that's slowed down so she's laid off, my dad's a Longshoreman but because of the economy he's barely working, and I'm turning in 5-10 applications a week.

I've pretty much decided I'm just going to keep saving up and keep driving this one till it drops and buy another Pathfinder. Probably for parts for this one, or if it's nice enough visa versa.

I've already put almost 30 hours of labor in for the tranny I'm getting, so it's too late to get rid of the truck now. Well, maybe I could sell the new tranny or something, since the one that's in it now is operating perfectly fine. :rant2: That and all the other work that I've done to it, I really don't want to see it go...

I love this thing, and it's awesome when it's running right. BUT it is an aging 21 year old truck that was abused to high hell from the PO and it gets driven A LOT. I bought it at 194,050 and it now has 203,400. In 8 months.

But I have had bad luck with it, that's for sure. Stupid ricer hitting me, hitting that curb. 2 people have almost hit me in the past week, each one a near miss. I swear I have a target on my back.

If I was really motivated, there's a FULL front axle assembly for $250 on Craigslist. Diff, axles, everything. From an '88

hmm my 95 does that but its MPFI and its b/c the fuel line is loose on the fuel rails...i guess the 87 could do this but highly doubt it...do you smell raw fuel and i'm assuming its on cold mornings...that doesnt really help but i mean you could start checking things like fuel pressure, change the fuel filter and start going through the ignition system or pulling codes from the ECU to see if it gives you an idea of what's going on

That's all the first thing I did over a month ago.

It would be nice if it went away, but it isn't hurting anything...it just raises my curiosity sometimes

Mine does something similar. It will fire up right away but stumbles up to idle. Also when I first got it, and it was sitting at the shop for inspection I wanted to try it out. And when I did, it took like 3 attempts to get it to go.

It won't run unless the vacuum lines are plugged, as with most vacuum lines.

I put my AB valve back on

And with most vacuum valves, the vehicle won't run the same with plugged lines as opposed to the valve connected and functioning...

I don't really see much point of the thing in the first place. My truck barely even backfired with it off (and that was with no muffler, or anything cat-back). All it seems to do is whistle a lot and make the motor rev up when it starts...yay! :jig: NOT.

Whichhhh reminds me, I need to fix my vacuum line for the cruise control...
